Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be held within a locked safe room when not being used for testing. Said safe room is to be at least 5 x 5 x 5 m in volume, and contain a table and two chairs made of pine, one on either side of the table, SCP-XXXX is to be placed in the centre of the table. The room is to be lit with a 40 watt tungsten light bulb and must be changed if necessary. If the containment room does meet these requirements, anomalous properties cannot be properly observed. The containment room is only to be accessed by personnel of level-3 security clearance or higher (see incident report: XXXX-2).
Description: SCP-XXXX is a black ██████ model ██-██ radio which shows no visible age, despite being manufactured in 1939. SCP-XXXX does not require a source of power. SCP-XXXX will play static when a sentient entity capable of speech is within 3 metres of it. The object will continue to play static on all frequencies except for 81 MHz.
When an entity that meets the description above tunes the radio to 81 MHz, hereafter referred to as "user", a male voice with an English accent can be heard, this entity has been designated SCP-XXXX-A. Based on the sound of the voice, the entity is assumed to be 65-80 years old. SCP-XXXX-A will attempt to speak to the user, if the user does not respond within 30 seconds of the first question, the radio will turn off and cannot be contacted again by the same user (see addendum XXXX-3).
SCP-XXXX-A will ask for the user’s name upon tuning. After a name is given, SCP-XXXX-A will remember this name and will recognize that user when being contacted by them again (see addendum XXXX-3). After this, the user can have a normal conversation with SCP-XXXX-A. If the user asks for help with something, SCP-XXXX-A will provide an item or transport the user to a different location in order to "help".
If SCP-XXXX is not in proper containment, a user attempting to contact SCP-XXXX-A will be told by them that the containment room is unsuitable (see addendum XXXX-3).
Addendum XXXX-1: Recovery Log XXXX
SCP-XXXX was found in suburban home in ███████, England in 19██. Field Agent ██████ was called to the area after a woman called the police about a radio in her attic that belonged to her late grandfather, whom she never met, began speaking to her. Field Agent ██████ collected the object and brought it to site-20. The woman and the local police were amnesticized and a cover story about ergotism1 was created.
