Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX poses no immediate threat and is to be submitted to SCP Research command for analysis and further experimentation. Access to SCP-XXXX is to be restricted to personnel with a security class of level 2 or higher. When not the subject of research or experimentation, SCP-XXXX is to be sealed and stored in an air-tight container.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a package comprised of a small cardboard box approximately 10cm long x 15cm wide x 20cm high. The box contains a small tube approximately 12cm long x 3cm wide and two small jars 4cm deep with a radius of 3cm. The cardboard box is white and has an image of a blue male gender symbol, and a pink female gender symbol printed on it. The contents of the package are visible through the front of the box, with the words "Many Heads" printed at the top and "Belzecue Corporation, copyright 1989" printed on the bottom. The tube contained in the package has the words "Genetic Gel" printed on it and contains a near-translucent gel comprised of an unknown compound. One of the small jars included in the package contains an unknown blue substance that appears similar to paint, and has the word "Male" printed on it. The other jar contains a near identical substance that is coloured pink, and has the word "Female" printed on it.

On the bottom of the back of the cardboard box reads the words "AIMED AT CHILDREN 8-12 YEARS OF AGE." Above this is a blurb describing the Many Heads, which reads the following words. "The Many Heads is the social phenomenon that has been sweeping children across the nation! This kit will allow your child to create the friend they have always dreamed of having. A companion to learn, play, and bond with."
On the right side of the box reads the following series of instructions. "In 8 simple steps, your child will have the only friend they could ever need.

  1. Acquire an unfertilised chicken egg (no older than 14 days).
  2. Decide the gender of your Many Head companion by painting the egg with the provided paint! Using the blue paint will hatch a male, or the pink paint will hatch a female. It is important you make sure that the egg's shell is completely covered in paint and that no white is visible.
  3. Allow 20-30 minutes to allow for the paint to completely dry.
  4. Once the paint has dried, coat the egg in a thin layer of the provided 'Genetic Gel'.
  5. In a dark and warm location, use worn and unwashed items of clothing to create a neat 'nesting pile'.
  6. Find an item of your choosing to bind with your Many Head companion, and place it on the top of the nest. Leave enough space to place the egg next to it.
  7. Place the chicken egg next to the binding item on the top of the pile and place one of the clothing items over the top of the egg, completely covering it.
  8. Leave the egg to incubate undisturbed for between 48-72 hours.

Ensure you read and adhere to the specifications in the 'Incubation and Binding Instructions' chapter of the 'Many Head Care Guide' included with your purchase."

Addendum XXX-1: Upon concluding the initial examination of the package's contents, it is apparent that the 'Many Head Care Guide' mentioned in the description on the box is missing.

Addendum XXX-2: Upon close examination of the paint-like substance contained within each of the jars in the package, minor traces of DNA closely resembling Amphiprion ocellaris have been detected in the pink substance; and Thalassoma lunare in the blue substance.

Test A - ██/12/██

Subject: SCP-XXXX

Procedure:

  • The instructions on the side of the box are to be followed precisely as written.
  • Blue paint is to be used to cover an unfertilised chicken egg (exactly 5 days old and kept refrigerated).
  • Assumptions on the nature of appropriate binding items had to be made due to the absence of the 'Many Head Care Guide'. Dolphin plush toy deemed safe for experimentation and to be used as the binding item.
  • Incubated for between 48 and 72 hours in an incubation unit made which has been constructed to emulate the specifications recommended on the packaging.
  • Incubation unit to be recorded with a live video feed which is to be consistently monitored by research personnel.

Results:
Entry Log 01: After a 16 hour period of incubation the video feed of the incubation unit showed some curious activity. A metallic looking liquid (resembling the appearance of mercury) could be seen to be slightly oozing from underneath the shirt that was placed to cover the painted chicken egg, however it appeared not to get absorbed by any of the fabric.

Entry Log 02: After a 17 hour period of incubation the liquid could no longer be seen, but the size of the chicken egg appeared to have slightly increased underneath the shirt.

Entry Log 03: After a 20 hour period of incubation the size of the chicken egg is estimated to have increased by at least 20 times, more resembling the size of an Ostrich's egg.

Entry Log 04: After a 30 hour period of incubation the rate at which the egg is growing has rapidly decreased, and it is now roughly about 24 times it's original size. The binding item seems unaffected in any way, at this point.

Entry Log 05: After a 40 hour period of incubation nothing has changed. The question is being raised as to whether to incubation process has been performed incorrectly, or the parameters of the incubation unit are unsatisfactory. The amount of light in the unit will be reduced, though this will make the visibility of the video feed harder to monitor.

Entry Log 06: After a 44 hour period of incubation and reducing the amount of light in the incubation unit, it is difficult to determine whether or not the size of the egg has increased any more. However the secretion of the metallic liquid from the egg is apparent once more and has spread to cover a large portion of the nest.

Entry Log 07: After a 49 hour period of incubation, the plush toy that was placed in the nest as the binding item has become completely covered by the metallic substance secreted from the egg.

Entry Log 08: After a 51 hour period of incubation it has been determined that the egg continued to increase in size, and is estimated to be approximately 30 times larger than it was originally. The binding item also seems to be dissolving.

Entry Log 09: After a 58 hour period of incubation the egg has not grown any larger in size, however the binding item has completely dissolved and the amount of the metallic liquid substance seems to be reducing.

Entry Log 10: After a 61 hour period of incubation the metallic liquid has completely dissipated, and there are no remnants of the binding item. The egg also appeared to move slightly about an hour ago, potentially demonstrating the first signs of life.

Entry Log 11: After a 63 hour period of incubation the gigantic egg hatched, with a small humanoid being approximately 30cm long emerging. The body of the being is described as a light pastel-blue colour, and looking identical to what can only be described as a 3-dimensional stick figure. The head of the being has a near-identical resemblance to the dolphin plush toy that was used as the binding item with the only differences being that the mouth is no longer stitched together and is capable of free movement, the eyes (although still comprised of fabric) are also capable of movement, and though the toy was initially lacking one - a blowhole has emerged in the anatomically correct position. This subject has been deemed as SCP-XXXX-1-A.

Analysis:
Low light levels seem to be a preferable condition for the incubation process.
Determine other appropriate binding objects, perhaps of a more rigid structure - possibly even electronic or mechanical.
The package indicates the incubation process could be as short as 48 hours, indicating that the age of the package contents could influence the length of the incubation process.

Addendum XXX-3: The being created as a result of experiment 'Test A' has been deemed as SCP-XXXX-1-A1.

Addendum XXX-4: 1 hour after the conclusion of Test A, SCP-XXXX-1-A was transferred to a containment cell for further monitoring. The cell was furnished with toys that should appeal to children around the age of 4 at the advice of the research personnel responsible for conducting Test A. SCP-XXXX-1-A is exhibiting rapid development, and was capable of walking within only 6 hours of hatching. It's behaviour mirror's that of a friendly child around the age 5, and is displaying signs of rapid cognitive and social development - it is even able to make various audible squeaks, potentially indicating some limited communication abilities. It has not however displayed any symptoms of the need to eat, drink, or dispose of waste.

Work In Progress Notes

ORIGINS
- Brought to the attention of the SCP Foundation through pure chance when a foundation employee was rummaging through the wares of a garage sale in the city of Perth, Western Australia. SCP-XXXX was found at the bottom of a cardboard box that had the name "DAVID" written on the side of it. Upon enquiry with the property owner, the employee was informed that everything for sale is the former property of the owner's recently deceased aunty who's autistic son David had died in February of 1990. SCP-XXXX was purchased from the garage sale for a price of $██.██ AUD.

TESTING & EXPERIMENTS
- Experiment conducted testing the effects of incubating Many Heads with a computer monitor as the binding item.
