Special Containment Procedures: All "calm" instances of SCP-4541 are to be kept in a plastic container with a clasping lid with dimensions of 20x20x30 cm to allow some movement. All "hostile" instances of SCP-4541 are to be kept in a steel container with dimensions of 20x20x20 cm with 2 cm thick sides. All containers must remain in SCP-4541's designated storage unit. Under no circumstances should containers leave their storage unit or be opened unless SCP-4541 is scheduled for testing. Level 2 Security Clearance or higher is required in order to interact with SCP-4541. Should SCP-4541 sustain any damage, trained staff are to restrain it and a D-class personnel is sent in to mend it.

Description: SCP-4541 is what appears to be a 153x203 cm linen bed sheet of unknown origin. When intact, it will pester the nearest human by blocking his or her vision or tapping him or her on the shoulder. Various tests have proven that SCP-4541 shows no interest in non-human organisms. After five to seven minutes, or if no human can be found, it whips around as if blown by the wind, even when there is none. SCP-4541 will only become hostile if torn. Any rips will cause it to whip around furiously and try to strangulate or suffocate the nearest human. The only known way to sedate it is to mend whatever tear has been made in it. Experiments have shown that SCP-4541 is only susceptible rips and tears; it is immune to incendiary damage, high intensity acids and bases, etc. In its aggressive state, SCP-4541 can move at up to 10 meters per second (36 kph).

Discovery: The Foundation was notified of SCP-4541 after Mrs. Cathrine ████████ and many others in her neighborhood¹ reported "loud, hammer-like noises" in their attics or basements to local exterminators. Multiple unsolved deaths by strangulation or suffocation in the same neighborhood at the same time as the calls gave the threat of a potential SCP priority. SCP Sleeper Agents were sent to investigate and were prepared to contain any anomalous objects. Thirteen damaged instances of SCP-4541 were found in multiple homes of the neighborhood's residents. Most agents were nearly killed by multiple instances of SCP-4541, but were able to restrain them in a fairly short amount of time. A secondary sweep of the neighborhood surfaced three undamaged instances of SCP-4541.

Foreword: Interview with Agent Allison after the containment and documentation of SCP-4541.

Dr. Buckler: Please state your name and position.

Agent Allison: █████ Allison, SCP Sleeper Agent stationed in █████████, Maryland.

Dr. Buckler: Thank you. Would you mind describing your interaction with SCP-4541?

Agent Allison: Sure. So I get to the lady's house, and she directs me upstairs and into the attic. Smelled putrid up there. Probably has bats. I could've checked, I'm trained to be an actual exterminator-

Dr. Buckler: Irrelevant. Please continue.

Agent Allison: Sorry, sir. Anyway, I climb up there, and I immediately hear what she'd been complaining about on the phone. Sounded like what she said, mutant squirrels or whatever. Then right where I hear it coming from comes this blurry white shape. It hits me, and it felt like I got hit by a car. Goes for my neck and tries to strangle me. I'm wrestling it off my neck, making a ruckus, and that lady is nowhere to be heard. Must've gone downstairs. Probably for the better, I hear amnestics are a hassle. I finally manage to clump it into a ball, then I run downstairs and shove it in a box in the back of the van. I call up you guys, you set up a rendezvous, the whole shebang. I go back inside and finish up with the lady, told her I contained the animal, and that I'd have to bring it to Animal Control to see what it was. She pays me, I drop off the money at the office, and book it to the rendezvous. Those guys threw it in a heavy-duty box and drove off. They're kind of jerks, you know. I mean, I know they're just doing their job, but-

Dr. Buckler: Once again, irrelevant. We can't be having the interview tape be full of fluff.

Agent Allison: Sorry, sir.

Dr. Buckler: Now, the SCP. How large was the tear in it?

Agent Allison: Oh, I forgot about that. Wasn't really paying attention. Umm, I'd say about as long as my forearm.

Dr. Buckler: How long was that compared to this photograph?

Dr. Buckler shows Agent Allison a photograph of SCP-4541 during containment procedures.

Agent Allison: Oh, yeah, that's a lot bigger. Why does it matter?

Dr. Buckler: During containment, one of the staff ripped it further, and it became more aggressive. We were wondering if there was any correlation between the ripping and its aggressive nature. I think it's a bit redundant to be asking you, but it's Foundation procedures, so I have to.

Agent Allison: I understand, sir. Actually, do you think if it got more violent when the rip got bigger, it would mellow out if you sew it back together?

Dr. Buckler: SCP-4541 is due for testing tomorrow. We're going to try exactly that.

Agent Allison: Always one step ahead, you guys are, huh?

Dr. Buckler: The Foundation needs to be, otherwise we're all dead men.

Dr. Buckler: Is that all, Agent Allison?

+ Test 4541-A

Test A - July 26, 20██

Subject: SCP-4541-1

Procedure: D-19403² enters SCP-4541-1's temporary containment. SCP-4541-1 is not intact. Staff restrain it while D-19403 mends the long tear made in SCP-4541-1 using a needle and thread.

Results: After D-19403 leaves the testing chamber, the staff release the restraints and SCP-4541-1 floats free. Behavior becomes playful and calm, occasionally tapping on the shoulders of the staff from behind or floating in front of their faces. Movement is similar to that of a sheet submerged in water.

Analysis: Instances of SCP-4541 can be sedated through mending of any tears in the fabric.

+ Test 4541-B

Test B - August 30, 20██

Subject: SCP-4541-4

Procedure: D-19403 enters the testing chamber housing SCP-4541-4. SCP-4541-4 is intact. Staff restrain it while D-19403 is instructed to cut SCP-4541-4 in half with a pair of fabric scissors.

Results: Upon being fully separated, SCP-4541-4 frees itself from the staff's restraint and acts in a chaotic manner, throwing the two halves into itself. It ignores D-19403 and staff as it appears to try to put itself back together.

Analysis: SCP-4541 cannot function without remaining as one object.

+ Test 4541-C

Test C - October 23, 20██

Subject: SCP-4541-19

Procedure: D-19403 enters the testing chamber housing SCP-4541-19. SCP-4541-19 is intact. Staff restrain it while D-19403 is instructed to sew a standard t-shirt out of SCP-4541-19 with no extra material left.

Results: SCP-4541-19 struggles against the staff for 39 seconds after D-19403 completes the shirt until it frees itself. Once free, SCP-4541-19 flies towards D-19403 at 8.7 meters per second (31.3 kph) and proceeds to put itself on her torso. SCP-4541-19 constricts itself, effectively asphyxiating D-19403 until her expiration.

Analysis: It is unknown why SCP-4541-19 continued to act aggressively after being sewn together. Staff hypothesize that instances of SCP-4541 become hostile when it has any sort of opening in its fabric.

Comments: "I'm going to miss D-19403. She was a good woman. I think her time here at the facility changed her character for the better. Never seemed like a murderer to me." - Dr. Buckler

+ Test 4541-D

Test D - November 3, 20██

Subject: SCP-4541-24

Procedure: SCP-4541-24 is placed in the presence of one canis lupis familiaris. Subject is observed for ten minutes.

Results: SCP-4541 lies at rest for the first 48 seconds, then begins to float as if being blown about by wind currents.
