Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Any instances of SCP-XXXX are to be kept in a file cabinet within a locked room. If any examples of SCP-XXXX are found outside of this room, please report immediately. On no occasion should they be allowed to be hung up or taped on to any flat vertical surface.
Description: SCP-XXXX is the collective designation for, what is currently, 856 7346 missing child posters capable of self replication (with some variation), when affixed to a flat vertical surface. Every poster is 28 x 43 cm in size, and are all written in the same bold, red, size 60 Impact font. Each poster has a different name and image on it, which when researched, were all real missing child cases.
When fixed to a wall, an instance of SCP-XXXX will1 multiply. When left for about 12 hours, one poster can make up to ██ others. Occasionally, one of the posters will crumble to dust. It is not currently known why this happens When aligned with the data we were keeping on the missing child cases, we found that the posters disappear when the cases are solved.
Addendum 1: When junior researcher ██████ mistakenly ripped an example of SCP-XXXX in half, the same poster was recreated ██ times by the other posters. Upon this discovering this, researcher Cannon conducted several tests to see what extent the sentience of the posters goes.
Test A - 03/16
Subject: SCP-XXXX #278
Procedure: #278 was burned via an electric lighter.
Results: ██ copies of #278 were found the following day. Upon further testing, they were found to be fire-proof.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX seems to adapt to hazards presented to it, almost like a biological organism.
Test B - 03/28
Subject: SCP-XXXX #542
Procedure: #542 was pined in a room with constant video surveillance for 72 hours.
Results: #542 was not found to multiply at all.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX seems to realize when it's being watched.
Test C - 04/05
Subject: SCP-XXXX #712
Procedure: #712 was covered with permanent marker.
Results: A day later, not only was the original #712 completely clean, but there was also new words on the poster, such as "Why no police action?". The same goes for the posters spawned by #712.
Analysis:SCP-XXXX has the ability to absorb ink and use it for it's own gain.
Theories as to how it does this vary.
Addendum 2: Containment of SCP-XXXX was breached on ██/██/██. Posters spread through about half of Site-28, needing a substantial clean-up. Reacting to the mass taking down of the posters, SCP-XXXX spawned a unique note directed towards foundation staff. What it says follows:
Dear you,
Could you please not take down my posters? You must understand that it took a lot of effort to create them, and it's not like they're doing any harm. I'm only trying to help wounded families find their lost children. If you think that they're taking up to much wall space, I can shrink them down a bit. Just don't take them down.
Sincerely, █████
After this, all new posters spawned were 14 x 21.5 cm.
