Item #: SCP-4394

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4394 is contained within a Standard Secure Humanoid Containment Cell and must be warned in advance before any changes to its containment are made as well as before making transportation attempts.

SCP-4394 tends to be cooperative with most of the Foundation's personnel, unless the entity is under stress in which case, it should be accompanied by at least one armed person in precaution of a higher-state transformation as SCP-4394 has been known to become aggravated seemingly unprovoked when left alone.

Should SCP-4394 become aggressive, any unarmed personnel are to distance themselves from the entity immediately and attempt to calm it. Reassuring comments are often effective while it remains in a reactive state. Soft music has also proven effective to produce a calming effect which, if left, may lure the entity to sleep. Once calmed, it will remain compliant and often display remorse for its actions, and will allow itself to be escorted back to its containment cell with little to no resistance. SCP-4394 will often display its apology via a hand-drawn image which it will present to the person/s it wishes to make amends with. Refusal of these "gifts" is unadvised as it may anger the entity.

Description: SCP-4394 is a humanoid entity, standing at 1.6 meters in height with a slight hunch in its posture. Its appearance is anatomically consistent with that of an average human female in the early-mid teens. SCP-4394 has green irises with a slit pupil, choppily cut brown hair and anywhere between human-colored and gray skin, the latter being of varying shades which depend on its current emotion. It prefers to wear loose-fitting clothes that cover its limbs and neck, as well as having long bangs that are often covering its eyes due to its introverted nature. It displays little social behavior beyond shallow responses when interviewed, but will converse to a limited point if persistently prompted.

SCP-4394, though preferring to avoid it, communicates in English, with a slight British accent. It tends to become frustrated if conversation is forced, and often becomes restless in interviews. In the initial week of its containment, it identified itself as "Nyx", though an identification card belonging to SCP-4394 was found in the area where the entity was discovered, this card stating SCP-4394's name as Sierra Brennan, aged 15. All attempts to initiate conversation whilst referring to the entity by this name have failed.

SCP-4394 is easily provoked to its more hostile states, these, in full, being as follows:

  • SCP-4394: Normal stage. Entity appears entirely human, aside from the slit pupils, and reacts to outer stimuli in a non-hostile manner, tending to shy away from any unfamiliar objects and/or people.
  • SCP-4394-B: Second stage. Skin begins to lose its saturation and fade into a duller gray the closer to stage 3 the entity becomes. Hostile behaviors do not begin to emerge until stage 3, however the entity will begin to more actively refuse to cooperate with the staff and replies to any attempts at conversation will often be blunt.
  • SCP-4394-C: Third stage. At this level, the entity's skin will have lost all color and the slit pupils will begin to contract along with the iris itself. The canine teeth will extend slowly, which will cause the entity a large amount of pain. It will often refuse to cooperate at all, and if approached, will often lash out in an attempt to scare off anyone who comes close.
  • SCP-4394-D: Fourth, penultimate stage. Entity's irises will be fully contracted to ~50% of the original size and any outer stimuli will be actively and aggressively refused. Approaching the entity is highly discouraged as it often attacks with no motive whilst in this stage. Should observation become necessary, staff should do so via the camera system.
  • SCP-4394-E: Fifth and final stage. This has only been observed once. Entity's fingertips blacken and harden into dangerous, claw-like appendages which will often be used to swipe at anyone in sight range of the entity. It loses all ability to communicate, and does not respond to outer stimuli. Weapons do not prove effective in discouraging it from its behavior unless it is incapacitated via blood loss or the breakage of a limb. Entity should be contained at all costs due to the unrelenting and brutal nature of its attacks whilst in this final stage.

SCP-4394 will, in its first 2 stages, attempt to suppress its succession through stages, not wishing to cause harm despite having considerable difficulty with impulse control. In stage 3, the entity will not be able to do so, and will be unable to prevent its further transformation, involving its contracting irises and pupils and the extension of the upper canine teeth. X-rays on SCP-4394's skull have shown the upper canines to have the same structure and function in the same manner as a cat's retractable claws, though with greater pain. Upon reverting back to an earlier stage, the retraction of the canines may lead to SCP-4394 being unable to chew solid foods for an extended period of time. The longest this has been for is 9 days.

SCP-4394 has a volatile personality and reacts in strange ways. Simple, trivial things have been noted to set off its progression through the states, these being prolonged eye contact, flies, the color yellow, and spider's webs (though it is worth noting that she is rather fond of the spiders themselves, as they prove a decent distraction for her when in an earlier stage. On a similar note, there are things that should scare the entity but don't: fire, other dangerous SCPs (173 in particular), dead bodies and loud noises. Due to the strange and erratic way in which the entity reacts to outer stimuli, provocation is to be limited by the staff except on occasion of testing.

Addendum: SCP-4394 was first reported to the Foundation after being sighted in a back alley in ██████, ███. The entity was caught on a resident's security cameras being backed up into the dead end of the alley by an older man. SCP-4394 is shown to have become nervous extremely quickly and reached the final stage of transformation, attacking the man when he refused to back down. The body of the man was later discovered in the same alley with his arms dislocated, the majority of the skin lacerated, the eyes pushed out of their sockets and the teeth jammed into the throat. SCP-4394 has been questioned about this incident but retains no memory of the event, indicating the lack of control the entity has in this final stage of transformation.
