An artificial recreation of SCP-XXXX

Item #: XXXX

Object Class: Euclid.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is kept in a 11x12x7 foot room constructed of steel-reinforced concrete with a wall thickness of 4 feet. SCP-XXXX is mounted on the wall opposite the door, and is to be covered with a black tarp at all times. Access to SCP-XXXX is limited to level 2 staff, and all foundation personnel entering SCP-XXXX’s containment are required to have a blindfold on-hand and wear rubber gloves. SCP-XXXX’s containment chamber is to be replaced on a regular basis in accordance with its testing schedule. No visual surveillance devices are to be placed in SCP-XXXX’s containment.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a 5x2 foot painting that was painted in ██████. SCP-XXXX depicts a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress taking off from an airfield, though the cockpit appears to be empty. Little is known about SCP-XXXX’s creator, but it is believed that he died in air combat approximately a month after SCP-XXXX’s creation. SCP-XXXX was retrieved in 1953 following an explosion destroying a home in ██████, Florida. After its retrieval, SCP-XXXX was brought to site-█████ where it was then contained, and has not been moved since.

The effects of SCP-XXXX do not become apparent until it is viewed by any means, including surveillance cameras. Anyone who views SCP-XXXX is to be designated SCP-XXXX-2. Upon the direct sighting of SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-2 will begin to declare that they are a crew member onboard a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, and will begin acting in a manner that would suggest that SCP-XXXX-2 believes it is participating in a bombing run on a German industrial target. During its “flight” SCP-XXXX-2 will also converse with an invisible “crew.”After the creation of an instance of SCP-XXXX-2, all personnel within SCP-XXXX’s containment and the surrounding chambers should be evacuated to a nearby secure blast-proof room. Approximately 15 minutes after initial viewing, a large explosion will occur within SCP-XXXX’s containment, killing anyone inside, including SCP-XXXX-2. Potency of explosion increases exponentially with the number of affected SCP-XXXX-2 instances. Notably, SCP-XXXX itself is not harmed in the blast.

Despite not being harmed by its own anomalous effects, it has been found that SCP-XXXX is vulnerable to attack by conventional methods, including (but not limited to) burning, corrosive substances, and physical attack. Should SCP-XXXX be destroyed during the existence of an SCP-XXXX-2 instance, they will return to normal, and no explosion will occur. However, should SCP-XXXX be damaged in any way or destroyed, personnel who participate in the destruction or damaging of SCP-XXXX become compelled to recreate the painting themselves. Materials needed to recreate or repair SCP-XXXX seem to appear from out of nowhere, and the affected personnel begin recreating the anomaly. List of items include: 5 unbranded tubs of paint, with 1 of each of the following colors: brown, white, black, mahogany, and blue, 1 small fine-detail paint brush, 1 thick-bristle coarse-detail paint brush, 1 sealed container of Ammonium Nitrate, 2 sealed 5 gram bags of tnt, an antiquated B-17 blueprint dating to 1943, an esel, a 2x5 canvas identical to the standard form of SCP-XXXX, an airman helmet dating to 1944, and a human hand. The list of materials never changes. After the procedure begins, SCP-XXXX will be recreated with perfect accuracy by affected personnel within 4 hours, at which point the provided materials vanish, and personnel who had been affected by SCP-XXXX’s destruction return to normal, with no memory of what had occured. SCP-XXXX is then recontained. Attempts to terminate affected individuals before they recreate SCP-XXXX have proven ineffective, as the desire to recreate SCP-XXXX passes on to whomever terminated those reconstructing SCP-XXXX.

Test Log XXXX-A:
Class-D subject D-4579 is led into SCP-XXXX’s containment, accompanied by Dr. █████, and a member of foundation security. Dr. ██████ and security guards put on their blindfolds, and Dr. █████ walks up to the opposite wall. He finds the location of SCP-XXXX and removes the tarp after which the security guard and Dr. █████ leave SCP-XXXX’s containment. Microphones stationed in SCP-XXXX’s containment pick up audio of SCP-XXXX-2 yelling, which can be heard in Audio Log XXXX-1-A. Exactly 14 minutes and 48 seconds later, a large explosion can be heard within SCP-XXXX’s containment. Blindfolded foundation personnel enter the chamber, and proceed to attach a replacement tarp over SCP-XXXX, as the previous tarp was left in the chamber and destroyed. The remains of SCP-XXXX-2 are found in the corner of the room and are removed for analysis.

Audio Log XXXX-1-A:

<Begin Log>

SCP-XXXX-2: “All aboard men! Time to go blast those sons of ███████”

SCP-XXXX-2: “Weather’s clear, winds steady, we’re ready for takeoff!”

SCP-XXXX-2 remains silent for 3 minutes, occasionally moving his head left and right.

SCP-XXXX-2: “Any interceptors sighted Fitz?”

SCP-XXXX-2: “No? Alright. clear skies gentlemen. Those poor German’s won’t know what hit ‘em.”

SCP-XXXX-2 remains silent for another minute, before ending his silence. SCP-XXXX-2 becomes increasingly agitated.

SCP-XXXX-2: Fitz! I thought you said there were no fighters! Barney, get on the turrets! We’re gonna get blown out of the sky!

SCP-XXXX-2: Easy does it.. Easy does it… HA! Got the bandit! How far out are we Maxwell?

SCP-XXXX-2: about 5 minutes! Great. 5 minutes till we rain hell on that factory.

SCP-XXXX-2 begins acting as if he is looking through the floor, and appears to “survey” the ground for two minutes.

SCP-XXXX-2: We’re flying pretty low guys. Might want to go higher before their anti-aircraft weaponry notices us.

SCP-XXXX-2 appears to be rattled and drops to the floor on his side.

SCP-XXXX-2: What was that? Oh God they hit us! We’re about 2 miles out right?

SCP-XXXX-2: I don’t know if we can make it. Steady the plane Maxwell, steady…

SCP-XXXX-2 seems to survey the walls of the room for 30 seconds

SCP-XXXX-2: Seems like they hit our wing. We can still fly, but we can’t get hit agai-

SCP-XXXX-2 does a double take and falls over.

SCP-XXXX-2: They’re pounding us! Run evasive maneuvers!

SCP-XXXX-2 I don’t care if this is a B-17 Fitz! We have to do something!

SCP-XXXX-2: What did you say Maxwell?

SCP-XXXX-2: A mile away, are we? Well we better sprint because it seems like we might not cross the finish line!

SCP-XXXX-2: You say we can make it back to Britain the way our plane is? I doubt it. Our caskets will get there before this plane will.

SCP-XXXX-2: Coming up on the target now… dropping bombs in T-15 seconds.

SCP-XXXX-2: Steady…. Steady… Ok let 'em rip!

SCP-XXXX-2 once again appears to stare through the floor, seemingly in awe at what they are witnessing.

SCP-XXXX-2: Direct hit! Nice Job Me-

Explosion occurs inside of SCP-XXXX’s containment, terminating SCP-XXXX-2.

Addendum-01:(5/03/19██) Dr. █████ requests an effective repeat of the prior test in order to gain further insight into the workings of SCP-XXXX.

Incident XXXX-A:
In fulfillment of Dr. █████’s request, Class-D subject D-4596 is brought into SCP-XXXX’s containment, along with two members of Dr. █████ research staff and a member of foundation security. All foundation personnel within the chamber blindfold themselves, and one of the research staff members goes to remove the tarp covering SCP-XXXX. However, during the removal of the tarp, D-4596 becomes increasingly agitated and attempts to escape, making it into the main hall before being terminated by the foundation security agent.
During the attempted breakout, the scientist removing the tarp had become startled by the event and accidentally scraped SCP-XXXX with some force, resulting in the tearing of the canvas. Said scientist began exhibiting the need to repair SCP-XXXX. Within a few seconds, the materials needed to repair SCP-XXXX materialized. At this time, the second scientist within SCP-XXXX’s containment sights the human hand amongst the SCP-XXXX reconstruction materials and attempts to retrieve the limb for genetic testing, This is met with extreme hostility by the scientist under the effects of SCP-XXXX, who begins attacking the scientist, resulting in their death. The assailant is terminated by the foundation security personnel. Said person is then forced by SCP-XXXX to reconstruct the anomaly, a process they complete approximately 4 hours later. SCP is then promptly recontained by blind members of MTF-██████.

Addendum-02: (5/10/19██) Dr. █████ temporarily suspends testing with SCP-XXXX due to the incident and the unintentional death of two foundation research personnel.
