SCP-XXXX in its containment area (photograph taken by Dr.██████)

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be placed in a closed room with at least one (1) entrance door. One (1) armed guard is to be placed in front of every entrance to SCP-XXXXs containment chamber. SCP-XXXX must be attached to a concrete wall at all times. Once every twentyfour (24) hours, two (2) bowls are to be placed inside the containment room. One of them has to be filled with water, the other one has to contain any kind of cat food. Afterwards the bowls from the preceding twentyfour (24) hours cycle have to be removed from SCP-XXXXs containment area. Except for this exchange no personnell is allowed to enter the room containing SCP-XXXX, except with the direct permission of Dr.██████.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a photographic print, whose creator is unknown. The photograph depicts a long-haired male cat with white fur sitting on a blue-coloured carpet. The picture is surrounded by a thin metal frame and covered by a transparent glass pane. It is not known, whether the frame is part of the anomaly or not. All attempts to remove the print from the frame will result in the loss of both eyes (See Addendum b). SCP-XXXX was first discovered in the mansion of █████ ██ █████████ (deceased on ██.██.20██) located in [DATA EXPUNGED]. Removing the object from the wall it is currently attached to, will trigger an anomalous effect. Scratches with depths varying from 0.2cm to 3cm will spread over the body of the subject that removed SCP-XXXX until the object is attached to any wall again. In case the subject fails to re-attach the object it will continue to be wounded until it deceades due to bloodloss. The photographic print is also likely to to consume food. Observation of SCP-XXXX has shown that both bowls exposed to the object will slowly empty within twentyfour (24) hours. This process will be declared as "feeding". As long as SCP-XXXX is fed correctly, it will emit a calming sound comparable to purring. Subjects exposed to this sound for more than fourtyeight (48) hours will report an uncommon amount of happiness. Research whether this "purring" can be used to cure depression is to be carried out soon. In case no respectively the wrong food is provided for SCP-XXXX in a twentyfour (24) hours cycle, the person closest to the object will instantly [DATA EXPUNGED]. The remaining bones are then to be collected and sent immediately to Dr.██████ for further research.

Addendum a: Experiments have shown that the material which the wall the object is attached to is made of is not important. Therefore the wall in the containment zone no longer has to be made out of concrete like the wall on which SCP-XXXX was originally encountered - Dr.██████

Addendum b: The D-Class personnel D-33476 was advised to remove the photograph from the frame. Before the subject was able to remove the pane, the subject lost both its eyes as a result of a couple of scratches appearing all over its face. So the frame is now confirmed to be a part of SCP-XXXX. - Dr.██████

Addendum c: Although SCP-XXXXs purring seems to have a positive effect on humans, access to its containment chamber will be highly restricted due to the object´s other, more dangerous, effects. - Dr.██████
