Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX poses no threat as long as the object is not connected to internet. As such, it is stored at Site-███ in a five (5) meter square containment cell, on a one (1) meter high pedestal and connected to a mobile power outlet. Personal of all clearance levels are permitted to enter scp-XXXX’s containment cell during breaks. Scp-XXXX is not to be connected to any power outlets or connected to any form of internet. In the event scp-XXXX is connected to an internet source, all devices connected to the same internet are to be immediately destroyed and incinerated. Dr. ██████ must approve any any testing involving installing software to scp-XXXX

Description: Scp-XXXX is a standard Wacom DTK1660K0A Cintiq 16 Drawing Tablet. Scp-XXXX shows no abnormal behaviors other than containing instances of scp-XXXX-A. Scp-XXXX-A is a group designation referring to different 2-dimensional stick figures that materialize in scp-XXXX’s screen. As of █████, four (4) instances (scp-XXXX-A1 through scp-XXXX-A4) reside inside scp-XXXX. Instances of scp-XXXX-A are proven to be sapient and communicate through unknown means between each other.

Instances of scp-XXXX-A seem to be able to “look” outside the screen as they attempt to communicate with people in front of scp-XXXX (usually seen as waving at the subject). It has been proven Instances of Scp-XXXX-A cannot see anything behind the screen of scp-XXXX.

Instances of Scp-XXXX-A can indirectly interact with all software installed on scp-XXXX. (For example, typing In a web browser by re-arranging letters on the screen and tapping enter) multiple tests have been conducted with different softwares.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: [7 instances of SCP XXXX are currently contained at site 77 by means of placing 50 ounces of raw sika deer venison in the containment chamber in case of a containment breach. SCP XXXX will walk towards the venison without questioning. Instances of SCP XXXX are to be fed regularly.]

Description: [SCP XXXX resembles various crocodilian species, notable differences being longer limbs, tail and neck, as well as fur covering portions of its body. It was first discovered after the foundation investigated a report of a car being lifted up by an invisible force in █████ ███████ in Italy. 5 Mobile Task Force units were sent to investigate, and upon arrival found SCP XXXX. The anomaly displayed its anomalous properties when it felt threatened, as it lifted one MTF unit into the air with what seemed like telepathy. SCP XXXX was however easily tranquilized and transported to site 77. Upon closer inspection, it was not the creature that exerted these telepathic abilities, but rather an anomalous species of fungus growing on the underside of its lower jaw. The foundation researches were not completely sure whether or not the creature itself exerted anomalous properties, so further testing had to be conducted.

Shortly after, a second instance of SCP XXXX was spotted in the same area as the first one, and was placed in the same containment chamber. The two instances of the anomaly then appeared to be communicating in clicks and low-pitched growls, further study revealed that this was in fact morse code, and transcribing the message revealed that they were speaking simplified italian in morse code, and confirmed the creature to be sapient. A D-class member, who knew morse code, was instructed to try and communicate with the creature, and the creature displayed no ill will towards the D-class, however, after the conversation, the D-class reported feelings of nausea, and seemed to have a worsened sense of direction. Following the discovery of the anomalous properties of the creature itself, the creature was dubbed SCP XXXX-1, and the species of fungus SCP XXXX-2, and due to SCP XXXX-1’s sapience, it was classified as an euclid class anomaly.

After this was revealed, one instance of SCP XXXX-1 was interviewed, which revealed interesting information. It said it did not know how it ended up in █████ ███████, but could remember that it was born somewhere in Italy. It also made random comments about its life, revealing its favorite beverage was a type of medicine called “Brad’s Drink”. Seemingly irrelevant information, but this is the old name for the soda brand Pepsi, which stopped usage in 1903 as it switched to the modern name of the brand, meaning the creature is at least 117 years old by the time of writing this entry.
Strangely enough, in the period the beverage was sold under the name “Brad’s Drink”, it was not sold in italy, which raises the question of how it even knows about its existence under that name, and why it prefers an artificial beverage over natural water.

4 more instances of SCP XXXX-1 have been contained, each of which speaking different languages in morse code, and have been found in different parts of the world. It is theorized that there are far more out there, and the foundation is trying to track most of them down.

One incident at site 77 involved one of the creatures somehow escaping, even though no sign of damage to its containment chamber was found. When questioned about how it escaped, the creature had no idea how, and mentions how he “just got lost” and how he “simply ended up there”.

Further testing revealed that the creature was blind, and used smell to navigate. An instance of SCP XXXX-1 was placed in a maze where it was instructed to find meat. It could not find the mutton placed within the maze for 3 days, after which the creature was nowhere to be found. This specific instance of SCP XXXX-1 was later spotted eating sika deer venison in a house in █████, while the owner of said meat was cowering in fear. The creature was transferred back to site 77 and the man was given class B amnestics.

Further testing revealed that specifically sika deer venison was able to help the creature traverse the maze, as it was able to navigate through it without problem once the mutton was replaced with sika deer venison. It is currently unknown why it is able to smell this specific type of meat better than others.

Another incident involved a seventh instance of the anomaly which was spotted near SCP 3008-1, but before it was contained, it had already entered the building. 50 ounces of raw sika deer venison were placed at the entrance to the building, and after two weeks, the 7th known instance of SCP XXXX-1 returned. How it was able to do this is as of yet unknown.

Sika deer venison has been utilized to help the creatures return to their containment cell in cases of a security breach, and their ease of containment has resulted in them being reclassified as safe.]

GRANT REQUEST FOR NEURAL AND NECRO-NEURAL INTERROGATIVE TECHNOLOGY

PROBLEM

There currently exists no tried-and-true method of information retrieval from suspects and victims of serious criminal activity; suspects (and victims) are capable of deceiving law enforcement personnel, and the effectiveness of current interrogative methods produce variable results per individual. This unpredictability is further compounded by the advent of commercial transhumanism and augmentation - modification of self has become incredibly commonplace, to the extent that it reduces the effectiveness of physical and psychological interrogative methods by law enforcement due to the resistances these alterations create.

SOLUTION

The concept of neural implant technology is not new; many people, both in public and private sectors, are host to various technologies that enhance memory and cognitive functions already. What the proposed solution entails is the development of a secondary technology designed to interface with such devices (as well as the brain directly, should subjects lack these devices).

This technology will act as a one-way neural link between an operator, typically an investigator, and subjects; operators will have full-spectrum memory access in order to ascertain the full scope of the nature of a crime or incident from perpetrators and victims - regardless of their communicative abilities, state of consciousness or even whether or not the subjects are still alive.

The benefit in using human operators for this technology allows for a much more empathetic and nuanced approach to evidence retrieval and analysis; a degree of tact that is oftentimes needed (and underutilised) in serious cases where emotional input cannot be replicated by a machine.

Due to the invasive nature of this method, a Use Protocol will also be devised and proposed, which defines use standards that are to be enforced not only by operators but also by the hardware and software itself where applicable.

A proposition for the Use Protocol is as follows:

Full-spectrum memory access is deemed lawful and appropriate IF:

  • there is a clear indication that the person(s) is/are key suspect(s) in a serious crime and there is a refusal to cooperate with personnel,
  • the person(s) is/are unable to communicate to personnel and is/are (a) suspect(s) or (a) victim(s) of a serious crime,
  • the person(s) is/are deceased and are therefore unable to provide a statement to personnel

BUSINESS CASE

Profits from the technology would initially come from partner groups of interest; as the technology and its use protocols become more refined, it will be extended to mundane government bodies and eventually civilian law enforcement. A significant reduction in unsolved crimes will provide incentive for the purchasing of such technology, and may eventually lead to an overall dissuasion from, and reduction in, severe incidents and crime among groups of interest and civilian bodies alike.

USE OF FUNDING

Working prototypes are expected to be completed by the end of a period of 13 months; deriving this from pre-existing frameworks for neural implant technology, it is estimated this will initially cost around $300,000 USD.

A multidisciplinary team will be involve over the course of development; a group of 24 personnel consisting of neuroscientists, bio-engineers, cyberneticists and psychologists will be the primary makeup of the development team for the project. Each team member will earn a baseline salary of approximately $9,100 USD per month.

Conditioning and training of specialist personnel to operate the technology will cost an additional $8,000 per month per individual; an initial 5 personnel will be trained in the usage of the prototype technology over a period of 12 months. Should trials prove successful, further refinements may be proposed.

KNOWN ISSUES

A few issues have been identified with the current proposal, which have been addressed to the best of our ability.

Issue 1: Ethical concerns with regards to perpetrators and victims have been raised, due in large part to the nature of neural access both in living and deceased subjects. We intend to address this by not only establishing clear protocols of use, but by also imposing hardware and software limitations where applicable.

Issue 2: Psychological well-being of the operator remains of concern regardless of imposed limitations. To combat this, operators will be rigorously trained to withstand significant psychological duress. Should this training prove insufficient, the hardware and software will automatically disconnect an operator from a subject under particular physical conditions - typically if the heart rate is measured in excess of 180 BPM, in conjunction with elevated stress hormone levels.

Issue 3: The hardware used by operators to interface with subjects will need to be engineered for two particular scenarios: hardware-to-hardware interfacing, and direct brain interfacing.

While pre-existing neural ports are typically standardized the existence of outliers - however rare - must be accounted for, as much as the lack thereof. The proposed solution is as follows:

Hardware-to-hardware interfacing is to be standardized to the most common form of neural access port (9AXO); a procedure not unlike a cerebral shunt will be utilized for direct access. The hardware will deliver a probe direct to the brain via sterilized shunt that will allow an operator to neurally access a subject.

Due to the nature of the probe-shunt method, subjects will need medical intervention to prevent accidental over-drainage of the cranium. Operators will need appropriate training in order to deliver the probe in the correct location non-lethally.

Special Containment Procedures

SCP-6002 is contained within an official high-value item storage facility at Site-█. Testing during SCP-6002's "active phase" must be approved only with the express permission of Dr. ████ and Researcher █████. No personnel of Level 3 or lower may submit a testing proposal, unless they are sponsored by their supervisor of Level 4 or higher.

The foundation is to be delivered 1 Litre (1000ml) of human blood from medicinal donors on a weekly basis. This delivery is to be transported directly to the containment area on Site-█.
Every 12 hours, a Class-D personnel is to be given a secure beaker of 400ml of the delivered blood, and they are to fill SCP-6002 to an appropriate level, while being observed by Dr ████, Dr ███, or Researcher █████.

In the event of an emergency regarding this object, Mobile Task Force Oscar-9B (Broken Coriolis) is to be deployed to recover the object. Each agent is to be equipped with typical MTF equipment, as well as 500ml of human blood apiece.

Description

SCP-6002 is a transparent glass jar, with an approximate capacity of 350 millilitres. It is devoid of any known markings. There are 2 eyeballs within the jar itself, designated SCP-6002-A. Tissue sample analysis have shown them to belong to an unknown human, and are approximately 450 years old. SCP-6002-A are completely immovable by any known means attempted by Foundation staff. SCP-6002 itself is of unknown origin and unknown age. SCP-6002 also contains a folded gauze, designated SCP-6002-B.

Image Unavailable
SCP-6002 in its "transitional state".
Note the small amount of blood present.

SCP-6002 seems to be completely impervious to any kind of damage or harm, including by way of damage through explosions, high impact falls, and blunt force trauma. However, due to the potential consequences of destroying SCP-6002 but not its other components, attempts to destroy the object are now strictly prohibited.

When any other liquid apart from human blood is poured into SCP-6002, the interior of SCP-6002 heats to an extremely high heat (unknown as of now), evaporating any foreign liquids immediately. Neither any human blood within SCP-6002, SCP-6002-A, nor SCP-6002-B will be affected by this heat.

When SCP-6002 is filled with human blood, the liquid will begin to drain from it at a rate of approximately 60ml every 5 hours. The liquid will drain seemingly into SCP-6002-B, despite the gauze never being coloured or stained by the blood. When there is more than 100ml of blood within SCP-6002, SCP-6002 is considered to be within its “passive state”. When there is less than 100ml of human blood between SCP-6002, but not none, SCP-6002 is considered to be within its “transitional state”. When there is no human blood in SCP-6002, it is considered to be within its “active state”.

During the “passive state”, there are no known anomalous effects caused by SCP-6002.

Any living human who looks at SCP-6002-A during the “transitional” or “active” state will become completely immobile unless forcibly removed from exposure by a different person. They will be completely unable to move, speak, or react to stimuli. There is no known limit to how long this effect can last. Subjects who are exposed to this report experiencing “Extremely intense, paralysing fear”, which prevents them from moving. There are no other known memetic or anomalous effects during this state.

During the “active state” the object will begin to exhibit three new properties.

Firstly, SCP-6002-A will begin to swivel extremely quickly and uncontrollably of their own accord. Due to this, there is no angle that is considered safe to look at the object during this phase.

Secondarily, in addition to the immobility effect, the brain matter of anyone who looks at SCP-6002-A will begin to deteriorate rapidly and irreparably. Within 5 seconds of exposure, the subject will begin to experience signs of confusions and memory loss. Within 10 seconds of exposure, the level of damage will be comparable to Stage 5 Alzheimer's disease, being somewhat responsive but experiencing extreme confusions. Within 15 seconds of exposure, the damage will be comparable to stage 7 Alzheimer's disease, and the subject will be completely unresponsive to any stimuli, including visual, auditory, and pain response. Within 20 seconds of exposure, the subject will go into cardiac arrest and die within the next minute. For this reason, subjects exposed to the object during the active state either die, or are affected permanently and irreversibly.

Lastly, a powerful cognitohazardous effect will begin to be exhibited. Nearly anyone within a certain range of the object will have an irrepressible desire to destroy the object. This usually involved those affected running towards it as fast as possible, and attempting to punch or kick the object. This nearly always results in the subject looking at SCP-6002-A, causing their demise. No subjects to date have been able to prevent the effects through closing their eyes. It is unknown whether this is because of inability or lack of foresight.

The range of the cognitohazard is variable. The initial range is between 5 and 10 metres radius from the original object. However, every 90 seconds, the radius of effect will double.

Image Unavailable
The estimated range of SCP-6002's cognitohazardous
effect at time of recovery, Central African Republic.
Note from Dr. ████: It would take a minimum of 33 minutes for the cognitohazard to spread to the entire known world. Due to this, the object was raised from Keneq to Ekhi disruption classification.

It has been observed that those who score extremely highly on the Cognitive Resistance Value test are able to resist the cognitohazardous effects. Thusly, Task Force Oscar-9B is comprised entirely of agents who have scored very high on those tests. However, they are in no way immune to the immobility and brain deterioration effects. This still means that recovery and recontainment is a significant challenge.

Addendum 6002-01-A - Recovery:

On February 16th, 20██, the Foundation received reports of anomalous findings regarding people being compelled to destroy an unknown object. A recovery team was dispatched to investigate. The object was traced to the town of ███. When agents arrived on the scene,

Addendum 6002-01-B - Incident Report

The object was stolen during a containment breach and then it was found but the cognitohazardous effect spread to a whole town before the foundation was alerted.

the arachnine

Object Class:

Safe

Special Containment Procedures:

Arachnine require no true containment with the majority of them simply being left where they are in the wild. Simple barbwire fences are established around the forests, old abandoned towns and hills where they are found with warning notices stating the areas are military firing ranges or nuculur testing sites to deter human intruders. The arachnine themselves are unlikely to try to leave there home sites as they are nervous of human presence due to past persecution and are not considered a flight risk

Description:

Arachnine typically stand around 5 -7 feet tall. The females appear like spiders with humanesqe feet and two arms ending in ridges of spikes. They have a human like, but nose less, head with a wide sharp teeth filled mouth and two eyes split into four apiece like the many lenses of a flies eye but each of these eight eyes has its own pupil and iris like a humans. Arachnine have been observed to wear clothing seemingly fashioned from their own silk and whatever happens to be laying around such as dead leaves, feathers, animal fur basically anything that keeps them warm and can stick to their silk.
The males have been discovered to be non anomalous humans who upon reaching their teenage years mate with the females. The children produced by such unions are either non anomalous 100% humans if they are male or 100% arachnine if they are female suggesting that whatever creates arachnine lies on the X chromosome.
Arachnine females feed on birds, rabbits and other similar small creatures that they catch in simple web traps or web snares. They don't produce milk instead feeding their babies on a regurgitated mix of meat and seeds that get blown into their webs. The males are also fed basic crop plants, wild berries and fish their mothers seemingly aware they require a more varied diet to survive than just the meat given to the women. Arachnine have shown an intellect like that of a uneducated human. The females lack the ability to talk due to a lack of tongue and vocal chords instead using a complex sign language. The males can talk but being raised in the isolated arachnine society's they usually just use the same sign language.

Addendum:

They are currently 35 known arachnine colonies ranging from between twenty individuals to one hundred scattered around the world.

The origins of the arachnine continue to remain a mystery to the foundation. The only real clue discovered was a single depiction of a female arachnine on a ancient Greek vase which also featured the greek goddess Athena and a image of a woman weaving. The arachnine themselves, during the few conversations they have had with foundation personal claim that their ancestors came from ancient Greece but they were driven out and scattered around the world by the ancient Greeks who feared their spider like appearance.

A number of experiments have been carried out on the female arachnine and the non anomalous males of their society's. The first involved ten foundation male D class subjects. The men were made to have sex with ten female arachnine. The products of this union produced five non anomalous males and five arachnine females. Then ten foundation female volunteers mated with the non anomalous arachnine males the result of this union was nine ordinary human children seven girls and two boys though sadly the tenth women in the experiment miscarried, examination of the corpse (male) however showed no anomalies. This confirmed the foundations belief that the anomalous element existed only within female arachnine apparently passed on from mother to daughter. further experiments of this kind have now been forbidden for the mental and physical health of both the humans and arachnine involved. Experiments are however still being done on the X chromosome of the female arachnine.

Item #: SCP-9834

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Since infection sites are spread over such a wide area, complete containment is difficult, if not impossible. Individual sites may be contained effectively by encasing them in any secure material, as long as it is not the same material the site is bonded to and doesn’t permit any sunlight inside. The site must be monitored at all times, and no organic matter, living or dead, can be allowed within 50m of the seal’s edge.

Description: SCP-9834, or the “Shift Virus” as it was originally named, is a Foundation-created bioweapon designed for use by Foundation agents and other personnel. Created by Dr. ███ at Research Site ██ as a theoretical solution to the maze-like structure of █████, SCP-9834 has since caused several incidents of varying severity both inside and outside Federation areas after the incident described below.

Description Before Incident: SCP-9834 is a microorganism capable of rapidly assimilating organic and inorganic matter. When even a single cell of it is introduced to foreign matter, SCP-9834 converts said matter into copies of itself at an alarming rate. It uses organic matter to fuel itself, and while it is capable of living without food for some time, the process of replication puts so much stress on the cells that they expire soon after they perform it. The original variant of SCP-9834 was genetically coded with several “rules” that would prevent accidents from occurring when it was used. The rules were as follows. Once a cell of SCP-9834 converts matter, it and any cells produced by the conversion process cannot convert any other types of matter. EX: A molecule that converts concrete cannot convert wood, or anything else besides concrete. The molecules also cannot convert living organic matter, besides a nutrient mix used to feed SCP-9834 when not in use.

Description After Incident: Due to the many unfortunate events described in the incident log below, SCP-9834 has gained genetically coded instincts and limited sentience, allowing it to partially overcome some of the rules that previously governed its existence. It has also gained the ability to camouflage itself as the type of matter it bonded to, the ability to consume living organic mass, and the ability to turn that living mass into new, un-bonded SCP-9834 cells. It now has the ability to control its mass. Due to these new methods of reproduction, SCP-9834 has spread infection sites all over the world, seemingly preferring abandoned areas over cities and towns. SCP-9834 also appears to sustain itself using sunlight and carbon dioxide, much like non-anomalous plants do. However, recent discoveries suggest that the conversion of carbon dioxide into oxygen may be simply a tactic to lure in potential prey, as some survivors explained their reason for being in the area as “something in the air made me feel good,” or, “I’m sick, but being there made me feel healthy.” This is further supported if you consider the fact that 70% of SCP-9834’s victims were elderly or had respiratory conditions such as severe asthma.

Behavior: An SCP-9834 infestation site always starts with a single molecule. When that molecule is introduced to a material, say stone or iron, it will rapidly convert all of that material into instances of itself. Once this is done, it cannot spread any further. SCP-9834 then waits for the arrival of it’s first victim. SCP-9834 infested areas often trap living creatures by forming a pitfall-like structure camouflaged to fit the environment. When the thin “cover” of the pit is agitated by any means, it falls away revealing the yawning mouth below, assumedly dropping the source of the disturbance directly to their doom. As mentioned before, it is believed that SCP-9834 intentionally saturates the area around it with high levels of oxygen in hopes of luring in prey. Unfortunately, there is a reason that SCP-9834 consumes organic matter: to reproduce. Because SCP-9834 infestations can only affect one type of matter per patch, their ultimate sizes are very limited. During the aforementioned incident, SCP-XXXX gained the ability to convert living cells into unconverted SCP-9834 cells, and by creating a mobile shell out of pre-converted cells, SCP-9834 can transport the unconverted cell over long distances before deciding to create a new infestation site. A common question researchers had regarding SCP-9834’s method of reproduction is, as phrased by Dr. ███, “Why don’t the little shits just expand their own sites by adding new mass types?” For a long time, this was unanswered, as it seems as though an SCP-9834 infestation site could grow infinitely by adding new matter types to itself as soon as it gets living matter. However, that question has since been answered; for some reason, SCP-9834 patches with different matter types actually consume each other, whether they like it or not. The only exception to this rule is that bonded cells will not consume un-bonded cells.

Incident Logs:

Interviewed: (Former) Dr. ███
Interviewer: Agent ████
Foreword: This interview is with the intent to extract all possible information regarding SCP-9834 from former Foundation employee Dr. ███ because he was the lead researcher on the team that produced SCP-9834 and the only member of said team present when the incident began, his testimony to the events of █████ will be extremely useful in dealing with this new threat.

<Begin Log>

Interviewer: Good evening ███.

███: That’s Dr. ███ to you, agent.

Interviewer: Not anymore, it’s not. But that’s what we’re here to talk about.

███: Of course it is. You idiotic agents can’t just stay out of my business, can you?
Your job is to clean up messes, not to antagonize me into cleaning them up for you. I outrank > you, so why don’t you go pick on the other members of the team. You know, the ones that
actually have to care about what you say?

Interviewer: Again, you don’t outrank anyone anymore. After the incident-

███: Oh yes, the incident, don’t forget the incident-

Interviewer: -After the incident that occurred on your watch you have been removed > from your position and the Foundation as a whole. Before you interrupt me again, keep in
mind that your cooperation here decides whether you go home to your family or into 682’s
cell as a D-class. The choice is yours.

███:

Interviewer: Excellent. Now before I get to the questions, I’m going to recap my
understanding of the incident, and you’re going to tell me if I missed anything. Got it?

███: Yeah.

Interviewer: Great. According to what I’ve got here, you were working on a project called the “Shift Virus” as a theoretical way to destroy virtually any obstacle Foundation agents might encounter in the field. It says here that you documented the use of many safeguards and other preventative measures, yet the virus still managed to escape your grasp. Personally, I have no idea how that can happen, and since all the other members of your team died trying to escape their own creation, you seem to be the only one left with that knowledge. Care to enlighten us?

███: Well, it- the project I mean- started out great. We had very few problems developing it, and only one person got a finger eaten off. By Foundation standards, we had hit the jackpot of safe research. It even worked well during field testing. Ask Agent ███, he-

Interviewer: Is dead.

███: Really?

Interviewer: Yes. Killed by SCP-9834.

███: Shit.

Interviewer: Indeed. You were saying?

███: O-oh yeah. The field tests were great. They tested it during a hostage crisis by melting the entire building the hostage was in, giving the twenty-some snipers a clean shot. It was great. But the seventh mission was different.

Interviewer: How so?

███: It wasn’t some simple hostage situation. Foundation agents were infiltrating a rival organization’s base and needed to melt a wall to get in. Unfortunately, the Shift Virus didn’t work, and the mission failed. A portion of the wall was sent to us for testing, and for some reason, the virus just couldn’t melt it. It was only later when we found out it was because the wall was an organic plastic.

Interviewer: So what did you do?

███: We ‘added’ the wall’s composition into the genetic list of things the Shift Virus was allowed to bond with. Little did we know that the organic compound the wall was made of was just a bit too similar to what we made the containment tubes out of.

Interviewer: So it escaped by eating the container.

███: If you could call it that. The virus did eat the container, but we designed it to die right after it bonded, and it did. In reality, the whole incident should have ended there. We made containers out of something else, and agents started using it again two days later.

Interviewer: So how did the incident occur?

███: Honestly, I didn’t know for a while. All I knew was that some agents barged into my lab one day and arrested me for ‘creating and releasing SCP-9834’. I had no idea. But after a while, I started putting the pieces together. The Shift Virus project was obviously supposed to be secret, but if someone saw it and realized its true potential, it would become a major target. I remember the room we stored the virus in had a new janitor every week, but after the container incident, it was always the same guy. He never changed, and even started getting to be friends with some of the team. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but I’m pretty sure they switch out janitors so often as a security thing, and even if they decided to keep the same guy they would have wiped his mind of the project’s details every so often.

Interviewer: Are you suggesting that not only was there a mole at Research Site ██, but that he disguised himself as a janitor and was most interested in the least dangerous project in the building?

███: Yes, I am.

Interviewer: I would keep asking questions, but It’s clear you’re not going to tell the truth. I’m sending you to the shrinks, maybe one of them will publish your little fiction novel for you.

███: No, wait, I’m telling the tru-
