Quincy's Proposal

Location, Foundation Bunker, Code Name: Jeprody

I assigned our newest member the task of compiling an article, an agent from 'Home Improvement' was to sit with her and tell her what to write. What happened though, was something that no one was expecting, I don't know how she could have gotten in there, only I and one other knew the passcode, the containment chamber was under the strictest security. A breach should not have been possible. That isn't even the strangest part, she had only been here a day. How did she know about SCP- ████, I've been over the footage more times than I care to remember. I have not had a fuck up this bad since my tenure at the Foundation.

Everything I worked so hard towards is gone, years of my lives work and dedication, destroyed.

Everyone is dead. There is nothing left. No hope. Nothing.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5257 is to be contained in a 20x20x20 meter steel containment cube at all times within Site-55 and checked by one (1) Level 4 staff member on a bi-weekly basis via a security camera. SCP-5257's containment cube is to be heated to a temperature of 350~ Fahrenheit for no less than 3 seconds and no more than 20 seconds. Should SCP-5257's chamber be heated for greater than 3 seconds, Emergency-Protocol-5257 is to be put in effect immediately. (See Incident 5257.A for more details.)

Every 3 weeks, two (2) Level 4 personnel in hazmat suits are to replace parts of the containment area. During this process, personnel are to be extremely cautious and have emergency protocols in place in the event of a SCP-5257 containment breach.

Personnel who are infected by SCP-5257 are to be terminated on-sight by a stationed security guard stationed to monitor the cube.

In the event that SCP-5257 breaches containment, Site-55 is to be put under immediate lock-down. Personnel leaving Site-55 are to be terminated unless monitored for any evidence of SCP-XXXX. Once all unaffected personnel leave Site-55, Mobile Task Force Beta-20 ("Rocket Speed") and Mobile Task Force Beta-36 ("Germ Killers") are to be dispatched to Site-55. Mobile Task Force Beta-20 are to secure the area and re-contain any anomalies while Beta-36 will re-contain SCP-XXXX. Sterilization of the whole site is to be executed afterwards. After all anomalies are contained, Site-55 personnel are to be reassigned to normal containment tasks.

Emergency-Protocol-5257: This procedure involves a full site evacuation of all personnel. Once Site-55 is clear of all personnel, a team of Level 5 builders are to be selected. After selection, personnel are to wait until explosion. Once SCP-5257 explodes, team is to rebuild site. More builders may be required if Site-55 is completely destroyed.

Note that full rebuilding of Site-55 is not required, and some anomalies are allowed to be re-contained at other sites.

Description: SCP-5257 is an amorphous, anomalous species of mold that has currently not been identified as of yet.

SCP-5257 will constantly grow in size at a constant rate, and will continue growing indefinitely. In some cases, SCP-5257 had grown to sizes up to 300 meters in 1.2 years, causing damage to the area surrounding it including the containment chamber.

SCP-5257 is sentient, and can move around (via rolling) intelligently. In fact, it has shown impressive ability to understand it's surroundings and have a full self-awareness during containment breaches. Scanning has revealed no material within SCP-5257 that is usually crucial for intelligence at SCP-5257's level of cognition.

When SCP-5257 touches any material, SCP-5257 will shed a microscopic amount of it's mass onto the material. This mold will cause slow degeneration of the affected material over the process of several hours.

If SCP-5257 is heated at any higher than a certain temperature for a deviating amount of time, SCP-5257 will start absorbing all heat energy around it. After a certain amount of time, SCP-5257 will detonate. The power of the detonation heavily depends on it's current size and the amount of absorbed heat energy. SCP-5257 will then immediately restore back to it's form prior to absorption.

Incident 5257.A: Containment Breach

Date: February 16, 1982.
Context: Dr. Canthel attempts to neutralize SCP-5257 by heating temperature to 400~ Fahrenheit for approximately 10 minutes. This results in SCP-5257 self destructing, a blast radius of over 15 kilometers immediately destroyed all of Site-55 and killed all personnel within, along with the neutralization of several anomalies. Site-55 was successfully rebuilt in August of 1983.

Dr. Canthel's notes. Recovered within the crater of the blast, apparently readable.

I kinda wonder why no one is trying to neutralize SCP-5257, are you all scared or something?
Alright, I turned on the heat. Seems pretty normal, SCP-5257 is getting smaller.
Same thing, I think we could terminate this. I mean, I thought there was going to be some twist, but nope.
Well, there is a bit of a twist. SCP-5257 has just stopped shrinking, it's getting a bit luminous. I can see it burning but it's just there.
This has been happening for a while, SCP-5257 has gotten even more luminous. I'm calling some staff to get out.
Shit. It's like… Igniting? I can't fucking see it. It's so goddamn bright but I can see it igniting. I called security to handle it.
Oh damn it, even hotter than before. I turned this off. It'

Note: The entry ends, it is thought that at this point SCP-5257 exploded.

Addendum 5257.2: For Medical Staff

Hello, medical staff. So it appears that you are needed due to the SCP-5257 outbreak, so we filed some procedures for you to do. This will keep you and everyone else outside the site safe from the personnel infected by SCP-5257.

First and most important of all, don't go touching the victim. This should be obvious for you. Since this thing is a deadly plague.
The right thing to do is to place the person within a containment chamber, and ask a person some questions. Here is a list to help:

  • Have you felt any pain that started only a few hours/minutes back?
  • Have you visually seen mold in this facility?
  • If so, have you had any contact with this mold?
  • What does the mold look like?

After you ask an individual some of your questions, write them on a clipboard. After, thoroughly examine the individual for any sign of tiny mold, this will require the person to be looked under a microscope. After you examine this individual, you can either let the individual out or kill him.
Your killing method can be anything, but I would recommend a painless death via gunshot to the head.
If the individual is affected, incinerate the individual after he is killed. Clean up the area after, then rinse and repeat for every other individual. We luckily have about 100 of you and lots of containment chamber replacements, so don't expect it to take extremely long. There is also only about 250 individuals in this small site.
Remember, violating these rules is ground for termination.

[END LOG]

Addendum 5257.3: Recovered Document.

Shit, apart of Site-55 just exploded. I think about half of Site-55's SCPs just breached containment, and I bet that I'm apart of the last 50 people. You might be wondering how the hell this happened, apparently some jackass decided to heat the temperature up. Didn't end too well for him, or to anyone in here in general. I contacted MTF-Beta-30 and Beta-36, they'll take at least 13 hours.

I'll probably be dead by that time, if I don't die because of an anomaly or some stupid idiot shooting me for no goddamn reason, I'll probably die a more painful death. I was dangerously near to the blast, so I expect to die from a painful radiation sickness.

The Baxter Proposal

My new life at Site-0

Arrival: I received chemical burns to my eye's leaving them utterly destroyed. As soon as the Site-32 doctor acquitted me, Director Roberts informed me in person that I was being transferred to Site-0, I, of course, knew what SCP-XXXX was from the staff and the site itself, I did think of arguing this but ended up just shrugging it off and going along with it. The last person to see me off was O'Hara. She comforted me before leaving. She had taken me under her wing, saying how I reminded her of a very close friend.

My journey to Site-0 was uneventful, my escort team insisted on playing classical music from A to B, so I got pretty intimate with Beethoven's Für Elise, arriving at the site itself was interesting, my escort team stood me in a specific spot, told me to wait five minutes and then knock, during this time I knew they were driving off.

I did not know where I was but what sounded like sand and small rocks made up most of the ground. As the sound of the ATV vanished, I reached forward with my hand and jumped at the feel of flat, slightly cold metal. I assumed this was a door, I knocked a few times, perhaps a little louder than I was meant to, and a few seconds later, the door opened. My ears were overcome with the familiar sound of the hustle and bustle of a Foundation Site interior. A plume of warm air also washed over me. This was when I was startled by a voice.

Pauline: Hey sweetie, you must be Naomi, am I right.

Naomi: Uh, Yes, I'm the new transfer from Site-32, nice to see…I mean, meet you.

Pauline: Don't worry about formality, were much less uptight than other sites, please call me Pauline, but you can call me Mrs Hop-Good if you prefer, now please come in, I'll fetch you a drink.

Naomi: Thank you, Pauline and two sugars, please, do you get many transfers of this nature, you know, considering…

Pauline: We have had a few, not many, all though from what I've heard on the grapevine that your pretty brilliant Naomi, I'm sure you will fit into our family just perfectly.

After my introduction to Pauline, she gave me a tour, keeping an arm around me to stop me from walking into any walls. I was to be given a seeing-eye dog to help me navigate but was expected to learn the layout of my station. I was taught how to read brail as Site-0 had undergone modifications to supplement blind inclusion properly.

First Assignment: the resident MTF leader accompanied me. Horatio was sat beside me. I was scribing, using my brail keyboard, my skill at touch typing also came in handy. Horatio was certainly an older gentleman. He had come back from a containment mission and was filling me in on a new SCP I was writing the article for. The SCP itself is such that I'm not permitted to discuss without the proper permission. After I had finished the article Horatio brought me to the canteen. He was nice to talk to, although it sounded like he was eating a brick whenever he talked. I think he knew this, though.

Horatio: How have you been? It's to have a new face to look at. It gets a little dull when you're looking at the same schmucks all the time, you a breath of fresh air.

Naomi: That's nice of you to say, Mr Williams, but it wasn't that bad. I had a few friends and some of my colleagues. I now wish to make friends here and try and make my own little family. It helps when I have someone to talk to and someone I can rely on.

Horatio: Well, hell Baxter, you can say that you have a friend in me, and hey, if I'm free and you bored and wan't someone to talk to, give me a ring, and I'll come a-running.

Naomi: Thank you, Horatio.

Meeting the Boss: Quincy is undoubtedly a character.

Quincy: Oh my god! About the time I get to see my new underling, haha, please have a seat.

Naomi: Hmm, thank you, Quincy, you seem to be in a good mood.

Quincy: Good mood, whatcha talking about, jokes, jokes, I'm always in a good mood and having someone new with us makes it all the better, how do you feel working here, do you enjoy it?

Naomi: Yes, I do. The people here are so friendly. It's nice being in a more relaxing environment; site-0 is so well maintained. I have met and talked with Pauline and Horatio; they're really nice too.

Quincy: That's great, I mean it, I work so hard to maintain a balance of hard work and recreation. Positivity leads to better work, I don't enjoy being strict, but sometimes you have to be "that" person.

Naomi: From what I've seen so far, you have done a remarkable job, Quincy. I never thought that I would be working for or in an SCP. It's strange but a good kind of strange.

Quincy: I understand that sentiment. It is bizarre, being an SCP whilst being a part of the Foundation, the novelty has not passed us by, but we try and ignore it, best to not think about that sort of thing.

Naomi: Quincy, if I'm now working here, does that mean I am now an instance of SCP-XXXX?

Quincy: In a way, yes, you can be counted as an instance for as long as you stay inside Site-0, but if you are talking about being fully incorporated into SCP-XXXX, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Bandaids: Zachery was head of medical he was a charmer for sure, I knew he liked me, and it was fun to flirt with someone now and then. Still, I wasn't really seeking anything romantic, and he thankfully understood that, but he did mention that he would keep himself open if I'm not dead within a year, I'll let him treat me.

Zachery: Thank you for joining me, Naomi Baxter, correct?

Naomi: Yes, Mr Lucas.

Naomi: I'm fine, eating healthy, using the on-site exercise facility once in a while. I haven't been pushing myself like at Site 32.

Zachery: Have your eye's been okay? I heard that chemicals caused your blindness. I also see you still have bandages on. Why is that?

Naomi: Apparently, the scarring around my eyes is pretty bad. I want to keep the bandages on such others don't see them, but I would like to change them to less itchy bandages.

Zachery: I do keep a supply on hand, I can apply the bandages, or I can call in one of the nurses if you prefer?

Naomi: No, no, please, it's fine, but I warn you, it's pretty gross.

Zachery: I'll be the judge of that.

Final Thoughts: It's nice here, I don't know where here is, but it's nice, the atmosphere, the people, I don't need to be able to see to know that I'm going to love it here, I've been keeping in touch with O'Hara and a few others, honestly I should thank Director Roberts for transferring me.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an invisible spherical object that with a mass of XXX. The orb measures roughly 50 cm in diameter which doesn't affect or is affected by gravity in any way and can be pushed as if it were a floating ball with the mass of XXX.
The orb emits electromagnetic radiation which mostly consists of infrared radiation and leaves SCP-XXXX with a constant temperature of XX degrees Celcius. At contact, SCP-XXXX emits other forms of electromagnetic radiation in short bursts, that vary with the energy it is hit with.
Gentle hits at around XXX Newton can cause SCP-XXXX to emit radio frequencies, even harder hits can cause the orb the emit visible light. These frequency bursts can be fatal if the collision energy exeeds XXX Newton due to a large amount of ionizing radiation.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept within a small box in which the top surface is made of transparent glass - part from which it must be opened from without changing the laterals forms - and the sides a opaque material; the measures of the box must fit the object perfectly, and leave no visible gaps on its laterals.
The SCP-XXXX is to remain inside a locked room with at least 1 armed guard designed for its inspection solely, cameras must also be placed in SCP-XXXX containment room and its footage must be under security watch at all times. In case of damages to the opaque sides of the box, personnel entering the room to replace the box are instructed to avoid both eye contact and physical contact of no more than 3 seconds with the pages and any other type of content contained within SCP-XXXX's book cover.

Experiments by the research team regarding SCP-XXXX must require clearance of level 3 or higher, being that every individual involved in the process must receive a psychological exam before and afterwards, proceeding to treatment if necessary. Experiments with SCP-XXXX must now receive direct permission from the O5 due to high threats of Foundation Exposure and unexpected chain reactions.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a large book of a thickness of 70mm, length of 231mm and width of 162mm, in which the cover has a complete black coloration. Although relatively small, it weighs approximately 12kg. Test subjects, about 60%, have also stated that the SCP-XXXX has an apparent infinite amount of pages, contradicting the approximate 1080 pages as seen and calculated by observers on the research team. The book also shows no cover information, such as author and title.

Attempts at reading or seeing through the pages of SCP-XXXX lasted a maximum of 14 seconds without receiving severe side-effects, with an average of 9 seconds. Individuals who tried to
explain and iterate on what they have read or seen failed to speak in a significant and coherent sense during the first seconds of exposure. It was also discovered that those with less aptitude in specific areas, including: physics, mathematics, psychology, philosophy and languages and codes, when asked to describe the SCP-XXXX's contents, would most of the time answer that they were simply "indescribable", and nothing more.

Further observation and any sort of exposure to the object that can result in any kind of theoretical or/and technical analysis of its contents, such as: attempts to read the pages, feel the pages by touch, or use any type of data collecting tool, will result in severe and likely permanent psychological harm. Those affected by the SCP-XXXX have shown highly unstable behaviors; agressive states, suicide attempts and "conspiracy intentions", besides gaining extreme traumas. A fifth common behavior demonstrated to have more intrinsic origins on the SCP-XXXX's pages; part of the individuals1 will attempt to demonstrate what they have seem and/or read, by drawing "physically incomprehensible" texts, symbols, images and also speaking unrecognizable words by any means necessary, a phenomenon that has been theorized to be more ideological and influenced by SCP-XXXX, rather than controlled directly by it. The physical representations and spoken words of the book's supposed content will also lead others nearby to collapse into the same mental state as the ones affected, following the same patterns of a normal analysis of SCP-XXXX's pages, and potentially resulting in threatening chain reactions.

Addendum-01a: The book was discovered buried in Providence, Rhode Island, U.S, in the ██████████, under the tombstone of Howard Phillips Lovecraft, on the date of ██/██/20██.

Addendum-01b: It appears that looking at SCP-XXXX while this one is closed can also affect the individual, more specifically the view of the edges and borders of each page, although the process is slightly slower than usual, at a difference of 7-13.5 seconds (see incident XXXX-01).

Addendum-01c: Those reading SCP-XXXX for more than 30 seconds, without exception, have manifested some sort of before nonexistent physical form, ranging from objects to living entities. All of the instances generated hold the same mental effects and properties as the products of SCP-XXXX's pages, thus making the analysis of such instances significantly difficult, and their threat even higher. Individuals with low marks on the aptitude tests have been reported to take a longer time to demonstrate any initial side-effects, and those are more likely to keep reading until the 30 seconds mark is reached, but this does not seem to apply completely to the opposite when in specific cases of fanaticism or "devotion" (see incident XXXX-07).

Addendum-02a: Below is a list of the experiment logs made on SCP-XXXX.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class:Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a sealed and locked titanium box at all times. No more than 2 armed guards are allowed near the cell of SCP-XXXX. All personnel that are within the range of 5 feet of SCP-XXXX are advised to wear earplugs, or any way to block the melody played from SCP-XXXX.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to have an appearance of a harmonica made in 1920. Yet the brand is unknown. SCP-XXXX was found in ███, Europe. When a band was playing on the streets and suddenly, people near the musicians started to attack the musician playing the harmonica.

Any human subjects that come in contact with SCP-XXXX will try to play a melody using SCP-XXXX. Though the music played is unknown or never heard by anyone. Human subjects within 5 feet of SCP-XXXX–that aren’t wearing any protection from its music—will try to fight or harm the current person playing SCP-XXXX to play it themselves. This process will repeat until the current player is dead. All personnel who were apart of the “fight” are either killed or have their memory erased about coming in contact with SCP-XXXX.

Description: SCP-049-2 instances are reanimated corpses that have been operated on by SCP-049. These instances do not seem to retain any of their prior memories or mental functions, having only basic motor skills and response mechanisms. While these instances are generally inactive, moving very little and in a generally ambulatory fashion, they can become extremely aggressive if provoked, or if directed to by SCP-049. SCP-049-2 instances express active biological functions, though these are vastly different from currently understood human physiology. Despite these alterations, SCP-049 often remarks that the subjects have been "cured".
