Item #: SCP-6598

Object Class: Euclid

**Special Containment Procedures: SCP-6598 is to be contained in a standard humanoid cell located at site-23. Food is to be provided every day. Survalince of SCP-6598 is forbidden due to SCP-6598 not wanting its face to be seen. SCP-6598 cell must not be guarded with armed guards, because any signs of violence shown towards SCP-6598 will result in a containment breach of SCP-6598. Personnel is allowed into SCP-6598's cell only to clean or talk to SCP-6598. D-class personnel is to never come in contact with SCP-6598 due to criminal background. In case of containment, breach SCP-6598 is to be told in a calm manner to stay in their cell. Any attempts of violence toward SCP-6598 will result in death.

Description: SCP-6598 is approximately 8 meters tall and weighs 81.91 kilograms. SCP-6598 physical appearance is unknown due to hostility when the face is seen. SCP-6598 has been known to pull weapons from another dimension or universe, either is unknown. SCP-6598 is known to subdue anyone that shows any signs of aggression and takes them to what is called SCP-6598-1 aka "The room". It is unknown what SCP-6598-1 looks like due to any who enter are only seen to exit in a pickle jar. Multiple attempts have been made to see SCP-6598-1 but were unsuccessful.

Item #: SCP-5162

Object Class: Truculent

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5162 was once profiled as only an anomalous item until recently and was held in a steel box. SCP-5162 is now be held in a ten by ten concrete cell with a four and a half foot tall pedestal with a two inch thick tempered glass case with a hatch on top of it. The hatch has a key and code lock. The key is held in a [Expunged] contained in site-[Redacted]. Anyone under level two that takes the key will be shot on sight even with permission unless the permission was granted by the 05 committee directly. SCP-5162 is to be held inside the case and the hatch shall not be opened without permission of a researcher of level or four higher. Testing is only allowed to be carried out by level three or higher with signed permission or the ethics committee.

Description: SCP-5162 has the appearance to be a yellow rubber dodgeball with a white plug. On the left side if the plug there is evidence of an adhesive most likely to hold a label that has been ripped off before the foundation was able to contain it. After much testing the adhesive can not be taken off and the plug can not be manually removed by even other SCPs.
SCP-5162 will appear in a ten foot half circle on the side of roads that have traffic of at least five cars with children in them a day. SCP-5162 will not appear obstructed or behind objects. When SCP-5162 is stationed it will not move until approached by a child under the age of thirteen even when directly touched by animals, SCPs, or nature. SCP-5162 will wait until approached by a child under the age of thirteen. SCP-5162 will then move away from the road. The child seems to be either hypnotized or heavily intrigued by SCP-5162 and will not stop following it even when physically moved. The hypnosis has a range of one-hundred mile circle from SCP-5162.
Once the child is not in the sight of any and all adults SCP-5162 will pop out it’s plug and slowly open to show a gaping mouth with hard rubber teeth-like protrusions and a slimy soft rubber tongue-like appendage. When this is shown the child will either [Redacted] or [Redacted] and SCP-5162 will then close and a new plug will appear in place of the old plug. SCP-5162 then rolls away and when out of line of sight of all animals it seems to disappear completely. After being starved SCP-5162 will no longer move.

Addendum: Testing is ongoing and this document will be updated accordingly. Tests 1A - 9A have been expunged and will not be written onto this document on request of the Ethics Committee.
Test Log 9B: While [Expunged] Subject two was instructed to stop SCP-5162 from closing. Subject two refuses. Subject two is warned that not complying will led to termination. Subject two acknowledges and does not comply. Subject two is warned once again and it finally complies sticking both of it's hands into the hole. SCP-5162 opens back up and [Expunged]. Test was then ended quickly after.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures:

Due to its unpredictable pattern of manifestation and ability to materialize and dematerialize at will, SCP-XXXX is impossible to contain. Instances of SCP-XXXX are to be approached and apprehended as quickly as is safely possible not to be interacted with by any personnel, regardless of circumstances (see Incident Log I-XXXX-01). At least two members of Oceanic Task Force (OTF) Iota-13 (“Boarding Party”) are to be present on any and all possible vessels which may experience a manifestation of SCP-XXXX to initiate and assist in evacuation if necessary.

Description:

SCP-XXXX is the collective designation for a group of entities that appear to target luxury cruise liners located in the Caribbean Sea, where the average net worth of all of the passengers is in excess of $1m USD, and only on vessels in excess of 50km from shore, and 20km from any other vessel. Instances of SCP-XXXX only appear between 10 PM and 4 AM, local time. Approximately two hours after its initial appearance, SCP-XXXX will de-manifest. This marks the beginning of a series of catastrophic mechanical or navigational failures, which eventually results in the vessel sinking. This process generally takes between four to seven hours for the vessel to become completely submerged.

SCP-XXXX manifests itself in multiple instances resembling famous pirates and privateers from the Golden Age of Piracy (circa 1650-1730 AD), categorized by recorded appearance. These include, but are not limited to: Captain Edward Teach (alias Blackbeard) (SCP-XXXX-1), Captain William Kidd (SCP-XXXX-4), Captain Henry Morgan (SCP-XXXX-5), Captain Bartholomew Roberts (alias “Black Bart”) (SCP-XXXX-7), and Captain John Rackham (alias Calico Jack) (SCP-XXXX-11). All manifestations resemble their respective historical figures during the height of their careers.

Instances of SCP-XXXX are observed as being exceptionally strong, fast, and resilient, making them exceedingly difficult to neutralize (see Contact Log C-XXXX-A). SCP-XXXX is never overtly hostile towards civilians or Foundation Personnel but will defend themselves when threatened.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is currently held in a secure 1x2x1 metre locker at Site-64, what should be supervised at all times. SCP-XXXX's cell is not to be opened unless permission is granted by a Level 3 clearance researcher.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a white refridgerator made by the company "Bosch." An interview with a worker of the store shows that SCP-XXXX didn't possess any anomalous effects while displayed at the store. SCP-XXXX was bought by ███ ████, who was found dead in ████████ Village. Subject had commited suicide. SCP-XXXX somehow gained it's anomalous effects in the village. When SCP-XXXX was retrieved, it had 2 sticky notes on it's door. The notes had handwritten text saying: "kill mr. carls";"be a good person for once." In the village, Jonas Carls was found dead due to a heart attack. When no notes of any kind are present on the door of SCP-XXXX, it is in a deactivated state, and will function as an ordinary refridgerator. If notes are present on the door of SCP-XXXX, it will be activated. In an activated state, SCP-XXXX may or may not obey the task written on the note. 79% of cases SCP-XXXX has obeyed the task written on the note. SCP-XXXX can teleport if needed. When the task is finished or denied, SCP-XXXX will anomalously destroy the note. When SCP-XXXX finds the task too absurd, SCP-XXXX will vanish and will shortly after appear with a new note. The new note appears eroded and has text written in cursive. The text always mocks the note with the task directly or otherwise.

Addendum-01:
Subject D-10023 placed a note saying: "do something good, okay" on SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX vanished and then appeared in Site-██, 500 kilometres away. Site-██ was currently experiencing a containment breach. On camera feed, SCP-XXXX went near the breached SCPs. Both entities then vanished and then reappeared in the breached SCPs containment cells. SCP-XXXX had recontained all of the breached SCPs. SCP-XXXX reclassified as Thaumiel

Addendum-02:
Researcher Thomas Brücke wrote a sticky note saying "kill 682."
After placing it on SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX vanished. After 43 seconds SCP-XXXX reappeared with a new note. The note said: "How about you kill god? That's the same thing IDIOT!"

Usage:
The instruction for usage of SCP-XXXX. (This is for your own good)

  • Be polite with notes.
  • Don't insult SCP-XXXX.
  • Don't write something devastating for humanity.
  • Don't anomalously write text on SCP-XXXX.

Object Class: Eucild

Level 2

Restricted

Special Containment Procedures: Subject is to be contained in a steel humanoid containment cell 10m x 10m x 10m, with a 1m layer of custom sound proofing Vinyl and Mineral Wool on each wall's exterior. The room lighting is purposely dimed to 500 lumens, per subjects request, and shouldn’t exceed 800 lumens. No electrical breakers or key wiring should run along the inner containment chamber’s walls (to prevent the removal and possible repurposing of these circuits). An one-way mirror observation room is stationed 7ms up the north wall. The entrance is situated on the south wall and uses a 3m x 2m x 2m airlock/passage before leading into ████████'s corridor. Within the airlock are 4 automated sentry turrets, equipped with the latest motion tracking software, the turrets are only active when no site personnel are present chamber.

Subject is allowed several luxuries and forms of pleasure and entertainment to allow safer and easier containment of it. Such items include but are not limited to 1-100inch TV monitor, 1-████████ Bed, several paints and canvases, ████ videogame systems, 1-████████████ couch, and 1 custom made trampoline. Any broken furniture should be replaced promptly by the on-site's clean up team. Subject is also allowed to request certain items to maintain its compliance. If the request is denied, denial should be given with appropriate and logical reasoning. (see incident report 2)

Parameters for a Request

  1. No Staff or Site personal
  2. No Object that can be converted into a weapon
  3. No 'World Event' media or non-fiction material relaying the events of the world
  4. No sentient or non-sentient SCP's
  5. Only selected D-Class to play games with
  6. One household pet or animal at at time
  7. Food from the on-site cafeteria's daily menu

In the south west corner is an iron suit, hence referred to as ‘the broker’. The broker is made with the exact dimensions of XXXX from the neck down to the subject's digits. On the outside of the broker's left arm is an electronic hinge that is remotely controlled by staff. On the opposite side is an electro-magnetic release lock that will activate upon the broker closing. The broker is to be used for transportation of the SCP and when inducting newly assigned staff. All new personnel who intended to interact or speak directly with subject must undergo the judgement procedure (as described): Staff must have a full, mandatory, background check. Any event in the person’s life that is considered as cruel or immoral are to discontinue the procedure immediately. Upon passing the background check, XXXX will be asked to wear the provided blindfold and to step into the broker. 2 security guards will escort the personal into chamber and remove the blindfold from the subject when authorized by the head researcher. A blindfold should also be used whenever transporting the subject. If SCP-XXXX’s reaction is of no threat to the staff present, they are permitted to interact with XXXX. If subject becomes agitated upon seeing the staff, they must must evacuate and be transported off-site with no knowledge of the destination reaching any researcher linked to the studing of XXXX. The researcher may return to the site after 6 months, or with the 05 Council's approval.

Researchers Note- the guards should also have completed the judgement procedure.

Should XXXX attempt to breach its containment, the fail-safe will flood the cell with a 1000kL mixture of water and liquid nitrogen. If the countermeasures are compromised on-site MTF and security guards are to quarantine the sector. Squads should also mobilize and guard all important on-site assets. Commander R. Matthews will assume tactical superiority and coordinate from ████████████. Squads are authorized to use deadly force, remain within close proximity, check in often, and cover ventilation ducts.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an unknown human male of Caucasian heritage. XXXX is 1.89ms in height and 63.27 kilograms and resembles a healthy athletic 18yr. Notable features are the following: missing irises and perfectly straight teeth. SCP is by all accounts considered a mentally deranged mastermind severely traumatized person cunning mad man an unpredictable and dangerous psychopath with several anomalous abilities (See list below). The subject has an inconsistent aptitude test record but it should be noted that the subject commonly displays a high aptitude level for both physical and mental tasks. The subject doesn't appear to have one anomalous trait but rather several. (See Additional Anomalous Properties). However the subject’s most notable anomalous property is its ability to see people’s life choices. Theory is that it can see an individual’s history/past, almost retaining everything the individual has seen through their eyes. If XXXX establishes visual contact with an immoral individual, subject will likely proceed to assault them, eliminating them in extremely grotesque methods (see interview log 1).

Similarly the subject's psychiatric evaluation continues to be inconclusive, however MRI scans suggests 1 or multiple mental disorders. Scans show the subject possibly having the following: Bipolar disorder, Multiple Personalities, OCD, DID, Asperger syndrome, Autism, Schizophrenia, Clinical Depression, Kleptomania, “a brain tumor”, or “exposure to something anomalous”.
After XXXX had been in the MRI scanner for 20mins the MRI program crashed, engineers reported the image reader malfunctioning.

Additional anomalous properties:
  • Subject is able to control his center of gravity. This lets the subject scale walls, ceilings and move at high speeds from 36km/h – N/A
  • No sustenance or rest is required to maintain bodily functions. (However subject enjoys eating food)
  • Mimicry of voices, male and female
  • Its body is immune to pain and lacerations. Any blade or sharp object that cuts through its body will leave an outline of where the incision was made, but the skin will not separate. Healing is almost instant, depending on size, healing can take from 2.2-5sec.
    • Serious damage from firearms has shown to incapacitate the subject, but it will do whatever it can to prevent this damage.
    • Furthermore firearms are the most effective at harming the subject. This reason is yet to be understood.
  • Subject can regenerate lost body tissue and vital organs, but at rates of 2-7 weeks
  • The subject is capable of bending and contorting its body in ways which its anatomy shouldn't allow. I.e. turning its head around 270°, bending elbows and knees in their opposite direction etc.

For more details regarding subjects anomalous properties see the Testing Logs.

Researchers Note- Subject claims its body obeys its will.

XXXX displays 4 certain behavior patterns. These behaviors have been documented to reduce any concern or distress the staff may have for the subject.

  1. Common Behavior: Subject will remain passive, and will actively seek something it finds entertaining. Subject’s personality is inconsistent while like this. Staff have reported him acting polite, vulgar, respectful, intrusive, satisfied, menacing or sympathetic.
  2. Behavior A: Subject will float slowly around the cell, sometimes curled into the fetal position. It will change direction upon making contact with any of the cell’s surfaces. XXXX is considered to be docile in this state.
  3. Behavior B: Subject displays sadomasochistic behaviours. Aggression varies, i.e. smacking himself in the face or repeatedly throwing himself into the wall. XXXX doesn’t appear bothered by the pain.
  4. Behavior C: XXXX will talk very quickly to himself. Normally pacing around the cell floor, wall and ceiling. Subject tends to laugh when doing this. Though the subject often discusses other topics such as human philosophy and social issues.

Any behavior that doesn’t match these is to be reported to head researcher Dr.Coogan

SCP-XXXX-Recovery: Subject was apprehended Moscow Russia on the 15th of October ████. Several reports of a murderer with finger prints and DNA being untraceable drew foundation attention. It was later determined that these murders where linked to a string of previous murders trailing through the USA and Canada before appearing in Russia. A total of 108 victims, 65 Males and 43 Females, where linked to the unidentified killer. Foundation took exclusive interest on 7 murders in Russia being KGB agents. Russian Officials colluded with Foundation personal to identify the culprit. The KGB has allowed the foundation to document the following security records. 2 agents, whose names were withheld, were guarding ████████ at ████████████. 2 hidden cameras where watching the site. At approximately 1:35pm a hooded individual (which has now been confirmed as SCP) approached them. Agents attempted to kindly ask the individual to leave. SCP then looked directly where the hidden cameras are placed and displayed an eerily large grin. Any further information dictating the event and who they were guarding have been withheld by the KGB. Foundation began monitoring the city of Moscow were the majority of recent murders related to the SCP have occurred. On October 12th, Agent Kesha reported that an individual had walked into a police station, and opened his jacket to reveal custom-made explosives. He was then arrested on the spot and detained. 3 Days later Agent Kesha arrived at the holding cell after she heard suspicious reports of anomalous activity. Several lawmen and detainees had come within 3m of the individual suffered serious bodily harm. Agent Kesha contacted MTF-Xi-3 (Body Snatchers) for support. The suspect was found sitting cross legged on the ceiling, and proceeded to be detained with no resistance. All officers employed at the station where given Class-G amnesties.

Researchers Note- Subject remained strangely calm and docile while being moved into foundation custody. Contradictory to his supposed violent and aggressive nature.

Incident-XXXX-1
Foreword: Subject had remained motionless since day of containment. Attempts at provoking a response had begun as ‘Response Testing’, - days since containment. 3 D-class personnel were selected at random each day and tasked to invoke any form of response in subject. The containment procedure for the testing was an air tight medium steel containment unit with a plexiglass wall in the middle to prevent any D-class directly interacting.

Response Testing-7: 1st D-Class was a former musician/ convicted felon. D-class was asked to play the flute and guitar provided. D-class was asked to keep playing for 3mins. No response from SCP. 2nd D-class was a former photographer, D-class was ordered to arrange and organize the given ornaments and photograph it. Response given by SCP in the form of a single glance. D-class asked to return to his cell after 7mins as he claims he was “feeling past tendencies coming back.” Request granted. 3rd D-class was given a 9mm Smith and Weston and a 3-week-old Golden Retriever before entering room. D-class is ordered to play with the puppy. Response triggered in the subject. Subject sits up and crawls to the bottom of plexiglass and presses his hands against it, smiling. D-class is given the signal. D-class terminates the dog in 2 shots. Subject remain motionless for 8.3secs then crawls back to the previous sitting position. Subject is silent for 3 seconds before breaking out into laughter. Laughter continues for approximately the next 10hrs. Testing is postponed. D-class 2 and 3 are asked to meet together and discuss what they did in front of subject. No reaction is invoked in subject until 11mins into their discussion. SCP stands using only his legs, while his torso rolls up along his spinal vertebra to a neutral posture, before slowly advancing to the glass. Both D-class don’t notice the subject’s presence. Subject then aggressively smacks his hand against the glass startling both D-class. Subject then rapidly jerks his head between the 2 D-class for 15 seconds, camera audio faintly picked up a sound that is assumed to be the cracking of the subject’s neck vertebrae. Subject then repeatedly, and at an increasing pace, slams his cranium against the glass until it shatters. The glass causes a gash in subject’s head which sprayed blood over most of the room’s interior. Subject kills the first D-class by digging his fingers into the D-class’ facial orifices, nasal and eye sockets, subject then rips the skull apart scattering bone fragments and brain tissue all over the chamber. Subject then tears off the second D-class’s arms and forcibly shoves them down his throat, the second D-class dies of asphyxiation. Subject then dances with the headless corpse of the first D-class for 13min. Later the subject uses the second D-class’s blood to write on the wall in German “Alles hat ein Ende, nur die Wurst hat zwei.” Translated “Everything has an end, only the sausage has two.” Subject then collapses laughing. Subject was restrained after Research staff concluded the testing. Containment procedures reworked.

Additional Note- After this Incident subject is assumed to be a sadistic and masochistic. Psychiatric staff are unable to explain why SCP laughed at the dog. Subject is henceforth classified as Euclid.

Incident-XXXX-2
Foreword: Updated containment procedures keep XXX in a heavy-duty containment cell and restrained to a steel table lifted on an angle of 70’ to assist with swallowing food. Restraints consisted of 4 stainless steel shackles 2mm x 75mm x 100mm around subject’s wrists and ankles. 1 leather strap 2mm x 75mm x 120mm around neck with padding. And 1 leather harness 3mm x 950mm x 500mm around torso.
Researcher staff agreed to monitor behavior for 30 days before any direct interaction is made. Subject had been confined for 14 days, 11hrs and 13mins, leading up to the breach. During this time subject had requested to be given some form of freedom or entertainment multiple times. These were of course denied. █/█/█ subject began acting restless, struggling against restraints and begging for release before ceasing all movement for the remaining 15days. Upon examination SCP was discovered deceased. Doctor Coogan immediately ordered SCP to be wheeled out, still in restraints, to the labs for full autopsy report. Lab C - Camera 2 recorded the following. Dr ████████ and ████████ began to examine the condition of the body, moments later, subject starts convulsing and then wakes. Subject then proceeds to dislocate his ankles and thumbs allowing him to pull his limbs out the restraints. Subject snaps off the remaining harness restraint and begins assaulting all staff present while laughing. On-site MTF were alerted and captured the subject after ██hrs. See interview log 1 with task force member Captain Robert Matthews.

Incident Report 3
Subject was being escorted for monthly pathogen testing, the normal route was under cleaning maintenance, therefore the pathing had been rerouted through Large-Heavy Containment. Unknown to the escort personnel was SCP-4715’s containment chamber. At 10m past 4715’s containment boundary all personnel (including escort personnel) in a 30m radius of 4715 began clutching at their heads while crying. 10sec later 2 staff members begun bashing their own heads at a wall, while the rest assaulted each other. This went for 15mins before all staff were dead. During this, SCP 4715 had been rapidly growing and shrinking, vocalising what is assumed as cries of pain or distress. 4715 passed out after 27mins. Camera footage showed that XXXX did not move or react while this took place. The retrieval noted that SCP-XXXX was unscathed by the escort team.

Interview Log 5
Foreword: [REDACTED]
Interviewer: Dr Bright
Interviewed: SCP-XXXX

Researchers Note- Why was he allowed to interview him?

Interview Log 6
Foreword: SCP-XXXX has been writing for that past 2 weeks in a note book and on the walls. No particular pattern was noticed during this
Interviewer: Dr Coogan
Interviewed: SCP-XXXX

Researcher Note- After watching him for this long. I believe he has gone through more than any person in the world. And he has nothing to lose. But he is content to remain contained if we provide him with means to make his life enjoyable. I’m not sure if he’s contained though. So I am considering classifying him as Keter. To reinforce my decision, after looking into his involvement in Russia more, I’ve theorised he knew the Russian’s launch codes.

Samuel was sitting in his office shared with Bentley, resting his legs on his desk, with his fedora draped partially over his face. He sighed and mumbled,

"We've certainly not done a ton in the last month, haven't we?"

Bentley was sitting at his desk across the room, facing opposite of Samuel's desk, fiddling with his thumbs as if he had nothing better to do. He responded,

"Yeah. I mean, we haven't even gotten paid yet."

They both sat in silence for a while. Bently eventually decided to switch from playing with his thumbs to solving a Rubix cube, which was sitting on his desk, gradually gaining layers of dust until then. Just as soon as Bently motioned his hand towards the cube, the daily intercom announcements came onto the loudspeakers, in a feminine voice. Before the voice could say anything other than,

"Hello! staff members!"

Bentley woke up Samuel by shouting,

"Hey! Announcements! Wake up!"

Sam woke up, startled. He moved too quickly and hit his knee on the edge of the desk. He sputtered,

"Wha- Announcement?"

Bently rolled his eyes and said,

"Yeah. Now shut up."

The voice of the announcer then broadcasted throughout the room, saying,

"Samuel Daniels and Bently Kirk, please see project director, James Thawfield, inside his office. Thank you all, for listening. Have a productive day, everyone!"

Soon after they heard the faint sound of the intercom being shut down, Sam said,

"This may be our first project here in a while… well, let's get a move on."

Sam moved to the door, holding it open and motioning Bently through. They traveled to a door at the end of the hallway. The door had a slightly blurred glass, centered on the door. There were bold, black words printed on the glass reading,

PROJECT DIRECTOR

JAMES THAWFIELD

Once the two men entered the small room only lit by a single blub at the top of the office, a stench of cigarette butts and smoke overcame their senses. The director was sitting at his desk, with his coat lazily hung over the back of his chair, revealing his black suspenders with brass buckles and a white, button-down shirt. In the corner of his mouth was a half-used cigarette, with the end of it burnt to a near crisp. He took it out of his mouth, putting it between his fingers, and lifting it upwards, leaving a small trail of smoke. He gestured at them,

"Come in, and get yourselves a chair, the both of ya."

He then let out a puff of smoke from his mouth, having it quickly fill up the room. He spun in his chair, reaching for a drawer behind his desk. Not too long later, he emerged back from behind his desk, returning with one yellow file. He threw them on his desk then said,

"We have quite an important matter to discuss."

He studied them, then exclaimed,

"Well, What are ya looking at? Sidown!"

Sam and Bently quickly moved to the two seats in the front of the director's office.

"Took ya long enough."

Bently worriedly said,

"What did you call us here for, Sir?"

The director responded,

"Well see, I have a job for you. It involves the infiltration of a group. A group called the Serpent's Hand. I need you to stay awhile, and then strike them from the inside."

He began to open and read the document inside the file, his cigarette still between his fingers.

Sam knew that group.

"Isn't that the group that is hell-bent on setting anomalies free? From us?"

The director sighed,

"Yes."

Sam also began to grow more concerned with the topic, and finally said,

"Bently and I specialize in things like tracking down groups of interest and people of interest. What makes you think we can pull off an infiltration? We are not good long term "secret keepers" ".

He looked up from the file for a moment, only to grimace and say,

"To be honest,"

He paused for a moment to take a puff of his cigarette.

"I had a gut feeling that you two would fit the job."

Sam though,

A "gut feeling" doesn't quite cut it

But he and Bently said nothing about it. Jame Thawfield took multiple minutes to view the file in front of them, every now and then glancing up at the two associates while Sam and Bently contemplated what they were getting themselves into. Once finished reading the file, the project director cut the silence of the room and said,

"You two are going to need robes."

Bently responded, confused.

"What-"

"We understand."

Sam interrupted. Bently gave him a look that could only be described as confusion.

"Well, alright. You two are excused."

Sam responded as he rose from his seat,

"Thank you, Sir."

As soon as Bently rose to exit, the project director cut in.

"Except you, Bently. I need you yet."

Bently slowly sat back down, looking even more confused. James looked at Sam for a moment before yelling,

"Well? Go!"

Sam looked concerned and turned to Bently. Nervously but in a reassuring tone, Bently said,

"Just leave, man. I'll be fine."

Sam walked down the hall back to his office. He sat down on his chair in silent contemplation.

What could be so important?

Just as he was gathering his thoughts, he heard Bently say,

"Alright. Will do sir."

Sam scrambled to sit upright at his desk as Bently opened the door and walked into the office. He was carrying two dark green robes over his arm, their belts strung with rope.

"What did he talk to you about?"

Bently shakily responded,

"Oh-that? He gave us some robes. You know, the ones he was talking about?"

Even though Sam knew that was not the case, but he decided not to press.

"Here. Take one."

Bently threw one of the replica robes to Sam. He caught it, then he spread it out on the desk before him. What immediately caught his eye was a gold outlined insignia of a tree.

"Oh and-"

Sam raised an eyebrow.

"We leave tomorrow. Get some rest."

The next day, Sam and Bently were standing atop a hill, facing a cave entrance which was dimly lit by torches, mounted to the sides of the cave.

SCP-XXXX.jpg

SCP-XXXX prior to containment

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a containment cell furnished with a bed, a lamp, and a desk at Site-66. SCP-XXXX is allowed requested items within reason. Allowed items include a human bed, a copy of Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace, and several dog toys.

SCP-XXXX is allowed one hour of outside time accompanied by two lightly armed guards once every two days. These guards are permitted to use non-lethal force in the event of an escape attempt.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a domestic dog (Canis lupus familiaris) of the Golden Retriever breed which is capable of vocal communications in several languages. SCP-XXXX appears to vocally communicate in the same manner as humans. SCP-XXXX displays similar behaviors to those of a typical Golden Retriever.

SCP-XXXX claims to know everything, both in the past and in the present. When asked a question, SCP-XXXX will respond with the answer it believes to be correct, almost never deliberately lying. SCP-XXXX will almost invariably respond to any question it is asked. Although a large amount of SCP-XXXX's knowledge is in regards to academics, it has shown experience in survival skills.

SCP-XXXX shows a strong desire to return to its previous owner, Samuel Lane. SCP-XXXX has attempted to escape from Foundation custody in order to return to Lane. Upon recovery, the Foundation made the decision to interview SCP-XXXX in order to test its knowledge and origins.

Recovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered in the house of Samuel Lane in Seattle, Washington, after neighbors reported repeated shouting to the local police on July 8, 2004. Upon entry, police found Samuel Lane missing and his dog still there. The dog introduced itself as Winston Lane, at which point they fell back and reported the dog inside to be speaking. The Foundation became aware of this and stepped in, administering Class-A amnestics to the police officers involved with the anomaly and the neighbors. Samuel Lane was later located in a rural town in Nevada. He claims to have done this to distance himself from the anomaly's origins farther north, in hopes to completely avoid any supernatural effects as well as SCP-XXXX itself.

Addendum XXXX-1: First Interview

Purpose: A preliminary interview in order to familiarize SCP-XXXX with an interview setting.
Personnel: Interview monitored by Dr. Gonsalves in a separate room. Conducted by D-29141.

Start of interview: July 18, 2004, 2:14 PM

D-29141: So, uh, what do I say?

Dr. Gonsalves: Just ask the questions on the paper we gave you, and write down what the dog in front of you says.

D-29141: The dog? Are you fucking with me?

Dr. Gonsalves: Start asking the questions, and you’ll see.

D-29141: Weird-ass place. Uh, what is your name?

SCP-XXXX: Hi! My name is Winston! Who are you?

D-29141 stumbles back in the direction of the door.

D-29141: The hell?

Dr. Gonsalves: Keep asking the questions. The dog doesn’t want to hurt you.

D-29141: Okay, fine, I guess. Whatever gets me out of here. My name is Evan; thanks for asking. So, uh, what’s two plus two?

SCP-XXXX: That’s easy! It’s four! Next one, next one!

D-29141: What do you know?

SCP-XXXX: I know everything.

D-29141: Are you okay with your containment?

SCP-XXXX: I guess. It’s cozy here, and these people are nice to me. They even let me sleep on the real bed. I get to run around in this room, and they let me go outside. But I really just want to go back to Sam. I love him, and I know he loves me, too. I know he still loves me.

D-29141: I think we’re getting somewhere, huh? How did you become so intelligent?

SCP-XXXX stops wagging its tail. It falls silent and appears upset and sorrowful.

SCP-XXXX: Go away now. I don’t want to talk to you anymore.

Dr. Gonsalves: Thank you, D-29141. That will be all. You can leave the cell.

End of interview: July 18, 2004, 2:17 PM

Addendum XXXX-2: Second Interview

Purpose: An interview to build trust to discover SCP-XXXX's origins during the location process of Samuel Lane.
Personnel: Interview monitored by Dr. Gonsalves in a separate room. Conducted by D-29141.

Start of interview: July 19, 2004, 10:31 AM

D-29141: So, you wanted me back here?

Dr. Gonsalves: [sarcastically] Yes, we figured you didn’t have much to do. Do the same thing you did yesterday.

D-29141: Alright, fine. I guess it could be worse. Hello, how are you today?

SCP-XXXX faces away from D-29141 and says nothing.

D-29141: What, do you not trust me or something?

SCP-XXXX: To be perfectly frank, I don’t. I thought we were just going to have a nice conversation.

D-29141: Look, man, I don’t care that much about whatever it is I did. If you’re gonna get mad, get mad at that doctor who wrote these questions.

SCP-XXXX appears to weigh its options for about ten seconds, then turns to D-29141.

SCP-XXXX: This isn't an issue of trust. While I don't exactly trust you right now, there are… other issues I have. I'm pretty trusting. I mean, look at me. I'm a dog; we trust basically everyone. I lost my only friend pretty recently. It's not something I really think I'm ready to talk about. Give me some time, and maybe I can talk about it.

D-29141: Does that work for you?

Dr. Gonsalves: That’s fine. It’s the only deal we can take right now. Now, get to the questions.

D-29141: Great. Now, how are you today?

SCP-XXXX: Well, I’ve been better. As I’m sure you can tell, I’m trapped in a big metal box. It’s comfy, but I miss being at a house. It wasn’t as luxurious, since I didn’t get the good bed or new dog toys when I asked, but that wasn’t what mattered to me. Home is where the heart is, and my owner was my heart.

D-29141: Was?

Dr. Gonsalves: Script.

SCP-XXXX: It’s fine; our relationship is just a little… complicated.

D-29141: I’ve been there. Um, do you want to escape at all?

SCP-XXXX: That’s most of what I want to do.

D-29141: Hey, uh, I don’t really get this next question.

Dr. Gonsalves: Just try to the best of your ability.

D-29141: Uh, what is your stance on the containment of anomalies by the SCP Foundation?

SCP-XXXX: Oh, I don't think they should do it. I think that if they can destroy it, they should. They have too many dangerous things just sitting in cells. I mean, what are you going to do when a bunch of Keter-class objects break out because you wanted to do research instead of just getting rid of them?

Dr. Gonsalves: SCP-XXXX should not have this much knowledge on the Foundation. D-29141, exit the cell.

End of interview: July 19, 2004, 10:40 AM

SCP-XXXX's knowledge on the inner workings of the Foundation is currently being looked into. Any of its knowledge pertaining to containment of anomalies and personnel information is seen as a threat.

Addendum XXXX-3: Third Interview

Purpose: A general wellness check for SCP-XXXX.
Personnel: Interview monitored by Dr. Gonsalves in a separate room. Conducted by D-29141.

Start of interview, July 21, 2004, 8:18 PM

D-29141: Hey. I’m back.

SCP-XXXX: Oh, hello, Evan! I have missed you so much!

D-29141: I’ve missed you, too, Winston. I’ve got a new batch of questions. Are you ready?

SCP-XXXX: As ready as I’ll ever be.

D-29141: Good. Est-ce que vous parlez français?2

SCP-XXXX: Oui. Et ce n’est pas le seul français. Je parle espagnol, russe, chinois, italien, japonais, hébreu, coréen, arabe et toutes les autres langues auxquelles vous pouvez penser.3

D-29141: Uh, I don’t think I can write that one down.

Dr. Gonsalves: We’ll just transcribe it later.

D-29141: How old are you?

SCP-XXXX: I am currently five years old.

D-29141: How much do you weigh? It says to say in metric.

SCP-XXXX: I weigh 31 kilograms.

D-29141: It looks like this is the last one. Do you have any anomalous properties that the Foundation does not know about?

SCP-XXXX: Well, only one that I can think of. I’m supposed to live as long as a human lives.

D-29141: That was a pretty boring interview. I mean, if I'm gonna keep interviewing you, I might as well just talk to you. Right?

Dr. Gonsalves: That is not what I would advise. It is not in your best interest to get too terribly friendly with anomalies.

D-29141: Come on, man. It's a dog. A dog with a tragic backstory. You can't tell me you're not interested in that.

Dr. Gonsalves: I understand the root of your interest. I am only telling you not to because this is still something that was likely never meant to exist if there really is a god who cares about his creations. Besides, you asked all the questions we made for you. It's best for you to leave.

SCP-XXXX: I think he should stay. He's been nice to me.

Dr. Gonsalves: I'm sorry, who's the doctor, and who's the dog?

SCP-XXXX: Who's the one who knows everything?

D-29141: Ooh, he got you.

Dr. Gonsalves: Leave the cell.

End of interview: July 21, 2004, 8:25 PM

SCP-XXXX’s claim cannot yet be proven, due to the fact that, at the time of writing, SCP-XXXX has been alive for a typical amount of time for a Golden Retriever.

Addendum XXXX-4: Fourth Interview

Purpose: A test of SCP-XXXX's supposed omniscience.
Personnel: Interview monitored by Dr. Gonsalves in a separate room. Conducted by D-29141.

Start of interview, July 22, 2004, 11:56 AM

D-29141: Okay, Winston. I have more questions, but I don't really get them.
Dr. Gonsalves: It does not matter if you don't understand them. So long as we get an answer, everything is fine.

SCP-XXXX: This should be entertaining.

D-29141: Alright, uh. Awesome. At what time does the President of the United States of America scratch their nose?

SCP-XXXX: Exactly 7:53 PM, everyday. At least, they should.

Dr. Gonsalves: Incredible…

D-29141: What the f… Um, is Bigfoot real?

SCP-XXXX: Yes, although there are reasons we don't know that.

D-29141: Who are Marshall, Carter, and Dark?

SCP-XXXX: They're a group who likes to sell supernatural things to rich people.

D-29141: Who is the… O5 Council?

SCP-XXXX: Those in charge of this Foundation. And because of that, they're in charge of everything. They sought power that was indescribable, and now we can never be sure if humanity has been saved or doomed.

Dr. Gonsalves: Oh my God…

D-29141: You plan on telling me what this means?

Dr. Gonsalves: Exit the cell.

End of interview: July 22, 2004, 12:10 PM

SCP-XXXX has been determined to have knowledge of the SCP Foundation, the anomalies contained by it, and the O5 Council. Cause for concern has been raised about SCP-XXXX and any of its actions in regards to the Foundation.

Addendum XXXX-5: Fifth Interview

Purpose: A check of SCP-XXXX's mental health in containment.
Personnel: Interview monitored by Dr. Gonsalves in a separate room. Conducted by D-29141.

Start of interview: July 23, 2004, 12:38 PM

D-29141: Are you ready?

SCP-XXXX: I am, Evan.

D-29141: Perfect. Have you recently tried to escape?

SCP-XXXX: I have. I tried to dig as quickly as I could during my last outside time. They tranquilized me, though. Maybe they’re waiting to bring my owner up here.

D-29141: Maybe. What have you been doing with your free time?

SCP-XXXX: I’ve mostly just been reading. Nothing much to do here other than that.

D-29141: Do you like the doctors?

SCP-XXXX: Not one bit. They’re the wardens, and I’m the prisoner.

D-29141: Yeah, I don't like 'em too much either. I understand where you're coming from.

Dr. Gonsalves: Keep in mind I am listening.

D-29141: Hey, you put the question.

SCP-XXXX: Can I ask you a question, Evan?

D-29141: Uh, sure.

SCP-XXXX: How do feel about the anomalies that the SCP Foundation contains?

D-29141: Oh, jeez. Uh, I don't know that much about any of them. I guess I know you, but that's sort of it. They aren't sending me around in too many directions. They had me mop up some goop once, but other than that, I've just been with you. I mean, I like you. You're cool and all. I've heard about worse. Interviewing a dog isn't all bad compared to what I've heard about dangerous shit. So, I can't speak for other guys, but you're cool. I would consider you my friend.

SCP-XXXX begins wagging its tail.

SCP-XXXX: That's nice. Thank you. You can ask your next question now.

D-29141: Do you feel ready to discuss the origins of your intelligence?

SCP-XXXX: Give me some time. I think I need to sleep on it. Next time you come in and interview me, ask me. We'll see whether or not I'm ready yet.

Dr. Gonsalves: That will be all, D-29141. Please exit the cell.

End of interview: July 23, 2004, 12:44 PM

Addendum XXXX-6: Sixth Interview

Purpose: An interview to determine the origin's of SCP-XXXX's intelligence.
Personnel: Interview monitored by Dr. Gonsalves in a separate room. Conducted by D-29141.

Start of interview: July 25, 2004, 3:22 PM

D-29141: So this is the big moment, huh? They only gave me one question this time. How did you become so intelligent?

SCP-XXXX: I don’t think you should write this one down. It’s long, and I don’t want you to hurt your hand.

To tell you this, I’m going to go back to the beginning. I was born on April 14, 1999. I belonged to a breeder who sold purebred dogs. I was originally bought by a rich man who thought of me as a status symbol. However, he didn’t really like me. He thought I was too wild. He threw me to the streets, where I stayed for a while.

It was tough. Seattle isn’t known for its cheerful weather. I ate trash all day until someone found me. It was Samuel Lane, my owner. He brought me to his house. Once we were inside, he gave me a bath and finally fed me some real food. And I’m not talking about dog food. He gave me real carrots and ground beef. That’s better than what the rich guy fed me.

He picked me up, looked me in the eyes, and called me Winston. I knew that that was my name. We played all the time. He walked me when it wasn’t raining. He bought me toys. We watched TV together sometimes. But he never brought anybody else home. He was a lonely man, but I still don’t see why. He’s the nicest person in the entire world.

On July 1 of this year, he got sick of being lonely. I was his only friend, and he wanted to be real friends. He brought home this book that was bound in leather. It didn’t look to be in good condition. In fact, it looked ancient. There were no letters or markings on it. It was thick, too. There were a lot of pages. Sam said he was going to change our lives before he got out bags full of different things. I saw chalk, salt, hay, and a big thing of water. There was also a lot of almonds and heather, which are apparently used in witchcraft for wisdom and longevity. He drew a chalk circle around me and covered it with the salt. He sprinkled the hay all over me, and it got in the circle. I don’t think it was supposed to do that. Of course, I had no clue what was happening, and I just sat there because I thought it was a game.

He put the heather and the almonds into the water, which was now in a large glass goblet of some sort. He put a sewing needle to my forehead to get one drop of blood, which he also put into the goblet. Then, he threw a lit match into the mixture, which was extinguished the moment it touched the water. To my surprise, the mixture ignited three seconds later. When the flame stopped, the mixture now looked like one, homogeneous liquid. Sam put it to my mouth, and I drank all of it. He started chanting in a language I’m almost positive does not exist. I remember him saying the names of the knowledge gods Thoth4 and Fukurokuju5.

Next thing I knew, I could talk. I was suddenly smart. I talked to Sam, and he hugged me. I knew we were going to be even better friends now. I kept talking to him, and I noticed he looked a little sad. I wasn't quite sure why. He did the ritual to make us even better friends. We had been having long conversations. I told him all about ancient philosophies and mental health. Looking back on it now, I can see why he was bothered. I was basically analyzing him all the time. I was pointing out signs of depression and anxiety. I was even trying to educate him on stuff that Plato said about the human condition.

When I asked him what was wrong, he said I was too smart. He went out with the book and came back without it. Throughout the next five days, he constantly yelled at me. Called me a freak. Said he didn't need my help being happy. Said I was all wrong. That he corrupted the only thing that loved him. I don’t know why. I still love him. At least, I think I do. I want to see him again, so I must, right? And he probably loves me. He was just a little mad. If I go back now, we’ll be best friends again. Anyway, he left on July 8 with his car. That’s when the police showed up.

D-29141: Holy shit… I’m… I’m so sorry…

Dr. Gonsalves: Thank you, D-29141. You may exit the cell.

End of interview: July 25, 2004, 3:42 PM

Addendum XXXX-7: Interview with Samuel Lane

Purpose: An interview to determine Samuel Lane's knowledge and opinion on SCP-XXXX before administering amnestics.
Personnel: Interview conducted by Researcher James.

Start of interview: July 31, 2004, 5:01 PM

Researcher James: Um, I’m supposed to ask you questions about your dog.

Samuel Lane: Fine. Go ahead.

Researcher James: Is the dog who calls himself “Winston Lane” your dog?

Samuel Lane: He was.

Researcher James: Did you do a ritual to make him smarter?

Samuel Lane: Yeah, and I fucked it up. Something about the hay or the almonds where I used too much. Now, he knows everything in the goddamn world.

Researcher James: Where is the book you found this ritual in currently?

Samuel Lane: Incinerator, if I’m lucky. Probably some dumb magic stopping that though.

Researcher James: Where did you find this book?

Samuel Lane: Some guy on the street gave it to me. Said I looked lonely. Handed me that book with a bookmark on the page pertaining to my situation.

Researcher James: Can you describe this man?

Samuel Lane: Yeah, sure. Pale guy, almost entirely white. Tall, maybe 6 foot 4 or something near there. Couldn’t really see his eyes. He looked like he might’ve been a drug dealer, but some fancy one. I mean, the guy was wearing a suit and a hat out in the rain.

Researcher James: I see. Do you still love your dog?

Samuel Lane: What? Fuck no! That thing was such a cute dog, and then it started asking where more people were, telling me I look sad, wanting to watch the news. Total nuisance.

End of interview: July 31, 2004, 5:10 PM

Samuel Lane was administered Class-C amnestics after the interview to erase memories of SCP-XXXX. Investigations continue into both who gave Samuel Lane the book, and what this book is. Currently, MTF Kappa-21 (“Dog Days of Bummer”) are locating the book and its original owner.

Addendum XXXX-8: Seventh Interview

Purpose: An interview to inform SCP-XXXX on Samuel Lane.
Personnel: Interview monitored by Dr. Gonsalves in a separate room. Conducted by D-29141.

Start of interview: August 1, 2004, 9:03 PM

Dr. Gonsalves: D-29141, this is not going to be a traditional interview. You are going to be telling SCP-XXXX about what happened yesterday. Small talk is fine, just don't completely derail this.

D-29141: Do I have to do this?

Dr. Gonsalves: [sarcastically] No. Feel free to just leave the cell.

D-29141: Fine.

D-29141 turns to face SCP-XXXX.

D-29141: Hey, Winston.

SCP-XXXX: Hello, Evan! You look sad. Why?

D-29141: Do you promise to still be my friend?

SCP-XXXX: Of course! I have no reason not to. No, wait. You're about to tell me something bad, aren't you?

D-29141: They found your owner.

SCP-XXXX becomes very excited. It wags its tail and runs around for a few seconds while barking before coming back to the front of D-29141.

SCP-XXXX: Oh, you found Sam! This is great! Did he miss me? Is he coming to see me? How much did he say he loved me? Does he remember my favorite treats? Did he say I was his best friend? Tell me, tell me, tell me!

Dr. Gonsalves: Play the recording.

D-29141 reluctantly presses play on a tape recorder.

Recording of Researcher James: I see. Do you still love your dog?

Recording of Samuel Lane: What? Fuck no! That thing was such a cute dog, and then it started asking where more people were, telling me I look sad, wanting to watch the news. Total nuisance.

SCP-XXXX stops wagging its tail. Any signs of happiness drain from its face.

D-29141: Look, buddy, I'm so, so sorry.

SCP-XXXX: I… I understand. You didn't make any of that happen. I'm just… I didn't want it to end like that. I was under the impression that he still thought we were best friends. But he hated me. I guess I have closure on that.

SCP-XXXX forces a laugh before crying.

Dr. Gonsalves: If it's any consolation, Samuel Lane no longer has any memories of you.

D-29141: What the hell, man? He's crying! Would you want someone to tell you they made your best friend forget about you to make you feel better?

SCP-XXXX: No, it's… it's fine. I would rather he not remember me at all than him hating me.

D-29141: I'm so, so sorry. I wish it went differently.

Dr. Gonsalves: That will be all, D-29141. Exit the cell.

D-29141 begins to leave.

SCP-XXXX: Evan, before you leave, can you hug me?

D-29141: Of course.

D-29141 returns to his previous place and wraps his arms around SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX puts its head on D-29141's shoulder and whimpers. This lasts for ten minutes before D-29141 leaves.

End of interview: August 1, 2004, 9:19 PM

Addendum XXXX-9

Although interviews continue with SCP-XXXX, they are mostly wellness checks, determining mental health, physical fitness, and state of knowledge. Minor escape attempts continue during SCP-XXXX’s outside time, but these are all quickly stopped.

SCP-XXXX continues to display dangerous levels of knowledge, including highly classified information about the Foundation. When D-29141 ceased conducting interviews, SCP-XXXX showed much less enthusiasm.

Progress on locating the book and the man who gave it to Samuel Lane has been stagnant. Some members of staff have suggested that the man may be "Nobody". However, there is no evidence to prove this aside from the appearance of the man given by Lane.

SCP-XXXX has remained adamant about returning to Samuel Lane, despite knowledge of his memory erasure and previous opinion. It has been doing less reading and more sitting and laying down. Due to SCP-XXXX’s highly advanced intellect, doctors assigned to it are theorizing that it is planning an escape attempt. All personnel are advised to keep a close watch on SCP-XXXX, due to its intelligence on most aspects of the facility. A successful escape attempt could cause a chain reaction, leading to a large scale containment breach of Site-66.
