SCP-XXXX, Giardiasis Duodenalis Timor

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Foundation staff should monitor the communications of various medical organizations for outbreaks of Giardiasis or mass hysteria. Upon discovery of a Giardiasis or mass hysteria outbreak, foundation personnel will be deployed to quarantine the affected area and observe for a SCP-XXXX outbreak. If the area is determined to be affected by SCP-XXXX, the residents in the quarantined area should be evacuated to the nearest foundation site for further observation. Additionally, samples of food and water are to be collected for further research on SCP-XXXX. Lastly, any sources of water suspected as a vector for transmission should be destroyed, along with the village and any food sources that may be contaminated.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an anomalous subspecies of the parasite known as Giardia Duodenalis. Transmission occurs when a potential host comes into contact with a contaminated food or water source. SCP-XXXX feeds on the host's fear synapses by actively triggering the fear synapses of the hosts brain. Once a host is infected by SCP-XXXX, the host goes through several stages1 before the parasite fully assimilates to the body of its host:

  • Stage 1: The host exhibits symptoms consistent with an average case of Giardiasis2.
  • Stage 2: Muscle spasms and moderate to severe pain throughout the body.
  • Stage 3: Mild to moderate auditory, visual, olfactory, gustatory, and tactile hallucinations.
  • Stage 4: SCP-XXXX assumes control of the host's perception of reality.

All known anti-parasitic medicines are ineffective at treating the SCP-XXXX infection. Furthermore, all attempts to surgically remove SCP-XXXX have resulted in the brain death of the host.

Hosts that survive the SCP-XXXX infection regain control of their perception of reality. Furthermore, surviving hosts find that they no longer have the phobia that SCP-XXXX exploited. Surviving host also display the anomalous ability to control what used to fear them. As such, surviving host will be given the designation SCP-XXXX-01 and kept in a standard humanoid containment cell for observation.

Addendum XXXX.1: The following journal was recovered by a stream one kilometer north of a remote village in the Dodoma region of Tanzania by local resident:

Addendum XXXX.2: The following journal was taken from a villager moved to a local foundation site after their village was determined to be a SCP-XXXX outbreak.

Addendum XXXX.3: The following are interviews that took place between Dr. ██████ and an instance of SCP-XXXX-1.

SCP-1237654

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: this entity must never be directly interacted, due to interacting with it of triggering by this entity. causing a containment breach.

Description: SCP-1237654 has the physical appearance of a 34-year-old man, with a jacket covering their face. the hollow man stands in-between 6 foot 6 inches, and 6 foot 5 inches.

back story: one day, a strange man sat outside site ##, huddled in a ball. guards told the man that he was trespassing, and to leave the area immediately, the man didn't listen. A guard shot the man leaving a hole in his forehead, the man still just sat there. even with his forehead pouring out blood, the man just sat there. suddenly the man got up, and stared at the one who shot him, and grabbed their head. somehow when the man grabbed the guard's head, it fell off. another guard came out just in time to see what happened and subdued the strange man with a sleeping dart. That very same man has been in containment ever since

Who I Am

Hello.

My name's NagirosNagiros, although I also use Nagi for short. Pronouns are ve/ver, and I'm 19. I've got a lot to learn about this site and life in general.

I'm part of the Butterfly Squad, as well as a semi-active author — you may see me around sometimes, and I'm always happy to help if you want some eyes on a draft currently on hiatus for mental health reasons. The majority of my staff activity feels technical, however — I do a lot of tagging and CSS stuff.

I'm most well-known for making a lot of contributions to the Site-17 Deepwell Catalog and creating/maintaining the Comprehensive List of Esoteric Classes. I have aspirations of doing more — I want to be prolific and have a formidable backlog of content I can be proud of. I want to inspire others.

We'll see.

SCP-4051

Well, here we are. First SCP. The one that started the Deepwell Catalog, even if that wasn't my intent when I posted it. I'm still surprised people liked it.

4051 is… complex. It's a story about a teenage vigilante superhero who joins a task force and unlocks a hidden power by the end — and it's all played straight. I had no aspiration of commenting on well-known tropes which have been known to kill articles on this site. I just wanted to write a story despite them.

4051 was a cry for help. The Nagiros who posted it was trapped in a hostile setting, tormented by authority figures who should have been looking after her, stuck in a mindspace of passive acceptance and denial.

I've had a lot of requests to continue Rainer's story. As I've grown as a person, he's remained at the sidelines: foraying with Death, finding some friends, inspiring revolution. I'd like to continue that story.

SCP-4175

I wrote this for Pride Month of 2019 and it's currently my most popular article. Personally? I don't think it's my best work.

Then again, a lot of people liked it. I know a lot of readers were excited to see the trans pride flag on a featured article — even if it did bring a fair amount of controversy my way.

AFTERLIFE OPHIDIAN /// The Foundation Over Heaven

A poetry-prose piece based in despair. I felt trapped in life, faced by oblivion on all sides, and channeled it into this article.

It exists, I suppose.

SCP-4755

Now then, it looks like my pet anomalous science, essophysics, has finally come into its own. The Foundation's tasted the blood in the water and they aren't backing down. If the universe rejects them, then the solution is simple: build a better universe.

Expect great things in the future.

Custodianship

In the event that I become unresponsive/unreachable for three weeks or more, VoidLadyVoidLady becomes the caretaker of all my pages, sans esoteric-classes-complete-list, which will enter staff purview. Let's hope it doesn't happen.

Item #: SCP-7502

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-7502 is to be contained in a standard humanoid containment cell. It does not appear to need food, and has never asked for substance other than coffee and tea. SCP-7502 is to be provided with any reading material it requests, with the exception of those used as bedtime stories for children. These are to be denied under all circumstances. Personnel guarding SCP-7502 must never be allowed on watch or in contact with the entity if they have not received a proper night's sleep. Only one researcher may enter the cell with SCP-7502 at any time. Any video taken of interviews with SCP-7502 may never be viewed with audio playing, they may only be viewed with automatically generated subtitles. SCP-7502 may be given any other entertainment material it wishes, and seems to particularly favor watching authorized videos from YouTube and other video hosting sites. It has attempted to wear headphones, in an attempt to listen to Audiobooks, however due to the lack of external ears and the multitude of horns and antlers such devices would not stay on it’s head. A request from the entity for an Echo device is still in the approval stages.

Description: SCP-7502 is a large beast, around 152 cm tall not including antlers. It has been observed to move bipedally or quadrupedally depending on the environment in which it is met. The entity is covered in varying lengths of shaggy, blue, black, white, and gray fur with a large mottled mane running the length of the neck. It possesses prehensile paws on it's front limbs with translucent blue claws. The hind legs terminate in cloven gray hooves. The face is furless and vaguely resembles that of a dragon with large bulbous eyes that do not bear a pupil. Two racks of antlers grow from the creature's head along with various other small horns and spikes. The tail appears to be docked. In low light, or total darkness, the creature's eyes, antlers, and some markings glow softly.

Addendum: SCP-7502 is known to inhabit the normal plane of existence only when it is unable to travel between dreamers. It has explained that the dreams of those who are asleep in close proximity are nothing more than roads for it to travel. It is known to favor the dreams of other anomalous beings over that of non-anomalous ones. This has led to the assumption that the original girl also has anomalous abilities. This is being looked into.

SCP-7502 is to never be allowed to read a bedtime story to anyone, even via a recording. The voice of the entity varies, seeming to mimic anything it has heard before. It uses this mimicry to narrate the books, however those within listening distance will fall into a deep sleep from which they will not wake until SCP-7502 has either returned to this plane of existence or moved into the dreams of another seeping entity within a 1.6km range. For this reason SCP-7502 is to be kept as far from populated areas as possible, save for research purposes.

Interviews with SCP-7502, which prefers to be called Story, have revealed that it believes itself to be a “Dream Guide”. When pressed about this it explained that sometimes beings become trapped in their own dreams and that it will help them return to their bodies in exchange for “their story”. Those who have woken from such events only recall SCP-7502 and what they were dreaming of. Frequently they cannot recall their own life prior to their encounter with the entity. SCP-7502 has only explained that it has offered an exchange.

Wow! You flipped a card and got: What the Little Bird Told Me 2!!! You ca reload the page or go to the next.
DATE: 28 Jun 2021 06:51

Who is that man?

The fact that the tiny bird in my bodice could speak in my thoughts was shocking. But he had not heard of the Tyrant? Impossible.

When was the last time you were out of that cage? I replied in my thoughts, taking care to keep a neutral look on my face as I weaved through the crowd with a tray of olives.

A very long time. The bird replied.

I took a single glance to the stage as I provided more refreshments to a lucky footsoldier. I wasn’t sure how well the bird could see through the cloth of my uniform, but it was better than nothing.

The Tyrant was not a tall man, but his muscles were certainly defined and you could see the hints of scar tissue running down his arms. His crown was a simple braid of gold and though his clothes were finely made of tightly woven fabric, they were not embroidered like the palace guards or adorned in feathers like the priests. The only thing that made him stand out was his mask. Just a simple sheet of bronze with two holes for his shaded eyes.

It was all he needed.

There's the sort of leader I'd never seek to bow to. The bird whispered in my thoughts.

My eyes flicked to the display cases behind us. Impossibly valuable things with real glass tops.

Hold up your end of the bargain, I thought, and we won’t have to worry about him much longer.

Don’t worry. He thought back. I wasn't a retrieval specialist for nothing. If I have my say I’ll get everyone out of here. So much lost knowledge. So many wasted minds. This place can’t go on.

For a moment I thought this was unfair to Lord Totch's fine reception hall. After all, the products of art and science were more than clear with the reception hall's fine domed ceiling and elegant frescoes in perfect mathematical proportion.

Even all around us we had poets making recitations, foods that could only be grown with careful irrigation, a thousand forms of intricately woven cloths…

But then I felt the ache of the lashes on my back twinge. You’ll hear no arguments from me.

I am no fool. I made the Wandsman prove he could uphold his promise. It was a short set of hops around the attic, but I had him show me he could traverse the space between spaces.

He told me he could do it much better with his Map and it did sound like one of the stories I’d read in Lord Hosk’s library. A bird with a Map that could travel the stars. An order of mages who knew great secrets and advised the gods of old. But Geyre did not want the star born corrupting his people, so they were stripped of power and locked away with the other monsters who defied his careful plans. The gods had never been kind to me either. So this Wandsman and I had that much in common.

As I weaved through the crowd, I could not help but thank York for one of the few advantages my bondage afforded me. I was completely invisible.

It was not long before I’d made my way to the cases. There were but three guards posted around them, and though their iron tipped spears looked fearsome, so long as they did not see me, all would be well.

All I needed was Adira. And she was more than happy to oblige.

In many useful ways Adira was an idiot. She had nearly the head for numbers I did, but she always had her head in the clouds. What’s more she had the lust of a dozen youths in their 14th year and a liking for the way fine gambeson clung to a guardsman’s chest.

In short, when I told her the newest of the guards on duty would fancy her if she gave him a drink and a kindness during her servings, she lavished me with thanks and praise. So when the guard blushed at her approach I knew I had my opening. I slipped ever so casually towards the cases and-

“STOP THAT WOMAN!”

An enormous booming voice shook the halls as the Tyrant stood from his high seat and pointed at me, his voice felt like being dunked into the river in winter and the sound was unearthly. Inhuman.

Terrible.

Time slowed. Without thinking I charged towards the case with the little silver scroll and slammed the serving tray down into it. “Now!” I shouted, and the bird flew from my bodice.

A guard grasped my collar and began yanking me back. I choked.

And then the bird flew to my outstretched hand. It had the Map in its strange wing talons. It spoke something I couldn’t hear.

There was a burst of blinding light and pain.

And it was gone.

So was my hand.

Blood poured from the wound from the ragged stump. The guard dropped me to the floor in shock, but the Tyrant was on me in moments.

As I stared up into that bronze face and the horrified looks of all the nobles of the first empire.

Only then did it hit me.

He lied.

CC-TV footage of SCP-XXXX from behind

Description: SCP-XXXX is an anomalous humanoid entity of unknown origin. Based on recovered CC-TV security footage from Site-44, SCP-XXXX is believed to be approximately 200cm tall with a rough approximate weight of 40kg and is of indeterminate sex.

SCP-XXXX possesses a slender build with developed upper arm and trapezius muscles. Despite this, SCP-XXXX appears to suffer from severe malnutrition. SCP-XXXX is bald and its skin is jaundiced with markings consistent with scarring from a lobotomy operation across its head.

Limited interaction with SCP-XXXX1 has indicated that SCP-XXXX is incapable of communication, displays intelligence similar to that of a 4 year old child, and displays a timid temperament, evading any individual within its vicinity.

Despite this, SCP-XXXX is the sole entity responsible for all Site-44 functions, such as but not limited to:

  • Regulation and ongoing maintenance of containment chambers
  • Ongoing testing of anomalies contained within Site-44
  • Ongoing upkeep of anomalies contained within Site-44
  • Ongoing maintenance of site infrastructure
  • Composition of status reports from Site-442

Accomplishment of all of the above functions require a consistently manned staff of approximately 20-30 people.3 Despite near-constant observation, how SCP-XXXX accomplishes those tasks is currently unknown, as it is not been observed to be capable of polylocation nor to be able to otherwise duplicate itself.

SCP-XXXX displays an intense desire to perform as many Site-44 functions as possible and has not been observed to eat, drink, sleep, or show any need to do any of the above. The only situation in which SCP-XXXX will cease to perform Site-44 related tasks is when Foundation personnel approach it. To date, no containment breach of any anomalies contained at Site-44 nor has any failure of site infrastructure has occurred since SCP-XXXX's emergence in the site.

Addendum XXXX.01 - Discovery and Relevant Documents:

Addendum XXXX.02 - Evacuation of Site-44 and Attempted Retrieval of Dir. Aaron Garth:

Mobile Task Force-Mannaz 4 "The Minotaurs"

Addendum XXXX.03 - Tissue Sample Analysis: During the failed retrieval of Dir Aaron Garth, MTF-ᛗ4 noticed a small patch of SCP-XXXX's skin torn off and lodged in site machinery. Although the patch was ground by the gears, the Task Force deemed it significant and recovered the patch as a sample. When DNA testing of the sample was executed, the DNA was an identical match to the following Foundation staff. Further research is ongoing.

Mal0 vers 2.0.0

SCP-XXXX
Clearance Level : 2
Disruption Level : Vlam
Risk level : Notice
Containment Class : Esoteric
Secondary Class : Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be held in a 10’X12’X10’ humanoid containment cell. Containment area is to be furnished with proper bedding, a bathroom, and a divider for privacy. Food should be provided three (3) times daily, however meals can be suspended or reduced as punishment.

[Update 02/15/20██]
No reflective surface are allowed within or directly outside of the containment area. A monitor displaying a live camera feed is to be utilized as a mirror.

[Update 06/30/20██]
Subject may be granted limited roaming through Site-24, only with permission from Dr. Lacemaker or Captain Shuck, under armed supervision. After which the subject is to given a pad down before entering it’s holding cell. SCP-XXXX is not allowed to leave holding cell at night unless SCP-XXXX is in need of medical attention. With exception to select personnel, contact with SCP-XXXX is permitted as long as there are no less than three (3) security personnel present at all times.

————————————————————————————————————————

Description: SCP-XXXX is a male humanoid approximately 195cm in height. Though primarily biologically non-anomalous, with the exception of the head, which is that of a face composed of just the skull of canis lupus, or wolf, and two white orbs devoid of pupils acting as eyes. SCP-XXXX has been assigned a standard issue jumpsuit to wear, along with an subdermal tracking device.

SCP-XXXX has the ability to enter a mirrored dimension through any reflective surface, however subject states that the mirrored reality is limited to what can be observed in the reflective surface, approximately 175° from the centre of reflective surfaces. Testing has been proven sceptical, as there are no ways for monitoring devices to enter with SCP-XXXX. Subject is only visible in the mirrored dimension from positions that are relative to the angle of observation. Meaning that SCP-XXXX can move out of direct observation but still be in the mirrored dimension.

[Update 04/08/20██]
SCP-XXXX’s ability has expanded to jumping between reflective surfaces that are aligned. Subject was able to move between several reflective surfaces before reaching the limit of the testing parameters. Further testing has been scheduled to ascertain the limits of SCP–XXXX’s ability to move between reflective surfaces and the type of surfaces that subject can enter.

————————————————————————————————————————

Recovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered following a containment breach at Research Site-24 orchestrated by the group of interest, the Serpents Hand. Video surveillance footage shows an altercation between Researcher Assistant ████ and members of the G.O.I. which appeared to have anomalous reality bending abilities. During the conflict Researcher Assistant ████ was thrown against the reflective portion of an observation window, upon impact he was observed melding into the mirror.

On 08/17/20██, During restoration efforts, the reflection of the observation window was noted to hold a silhouette of a humanoid individual. Research staff were notified and subject was given SCP classification. SCP-XXXX seem aware of facility personnel and acknowledged their presence, but was unable to communicate

All communication with SCP-XXXX proved useless until evidence led the attending researcher, Dr. Masters, to attempt writing backwards on the reflective surface. ( See interview log 1-3 )

On 10/06/20██, SCP-XXXX was successful in exiting the confines of the observation window and was given a proper physical examination before being moved to it’s current containment cell.

————————————————————————————————————————

Addendum 1: SCP-XXXX’s morale has been in a steady declined. When asked about the cause of the depression, subject states that they feel alone and isolated from more than the Foundation since being an anomaly. They feel that since fusing with his SCP-1471-A, that there has been an emptiness in their life.

Further studies have been scheduled with Dr. Lyons to look into SCP-XXXX’s mental health. A request has also been made to potentially supply SCP-XXXX with a secured phone containing the SCP-1471 “Mal0” app to potentially improve subject’s morale.

Dr. Lacemaker

~DECLINED~

————————————————————————————————————————

Addendum 2: In order to improve SCP-XXXX’s morale, subject has been scheduled to attend group therapy sessions with stage 6 victims of SCP-3312 though a video monitor.

Moral has improved slightly for both parties present. Sessions have been scheduled to continue on a monthly basis.

Dr. Lyons

————————————————————————————————————————

Additional Notes: SCP-XXXX has an addiction to energy drinks and can be persuaded by offering an amount to complete tasks. Additionally despite SCP-XXXX’s appearance, subject is rather timid and polite when dealing with personnel who aren’t trying to intimidate or exert dominance. ~Dr. K.Conners

————————————————————————————————————————
