The Unmower Draft 1:
Outline of Basic Concept, Brainstorming for Different Sections.
Outline: What I have so far
Copy/Pasted From Idea Critique Forum Template:
Seeking Greenlights: Yes
Page Type: SCP Article
Elevator Pitch: SCP-xxxx is a standard red motorized lawnmower which, when turned on, creates a space-time anomaly that causes solid matter (touching the blades) which was in a location previously to return to that location in its prior form.
In other words, if you take this "mower" and pass it over a mowed lawn, the grass will grow back. However, if the mower is passed over an unmowed lawn, then it will instead bring back the grass that was there after the previous mowing, causing the two sets of grass to combine, occupying the same space and increasing the mass and density of the grass. The matter required for this is not being created, but rather transported from wherever it was taken after being removed from that area. If it was taken to a compost pile, the grass in that compost pile will disappear. If an animal ate the grass, the required matter will be taken from the animal.
This effect extends to materials other than grass but it would take too many words to thoroughly explain it here.
NOTE: The unmower can, to a limited extent, bring back the parts and/or body of a human, but it cannot bring a dead person back to life.
Central Narrative: The Foundation discovers the mower after a neighbour of the previous owner borrows it. This neighbour happens to be the caretaker of the local graveyard… which is what he needs the mower for. To mow grass in the graveyard.
Hook/Attention-Grabber: The concept of something being able to remove specific bits of matter from one location and transport it to another… Is just terrifying, honestly. Imagine if this mower was used on a tree which contained cinnamon that you ate! I also just like the idea of being able to unmow grass. Not sure why, but this is hilarious to me.
Additional Notes: I think this idea could be a lot of fun if I did it right, but I'm kind of worried about presentation. Admittedly, a lawn mower might not seem like the most exciting thing to read about at first glance, and I do recognize that.
Copy/Pasted From Conversation With Brother:
"so… the three things to keep in mind that you mentioned were:
1. containment procedures
2. interesting properties/cool stuff about the scp
3. story
and you asked a question about the how the mower is affecting things, whether it had some sort of field projection or whether it affected whatever the blades touched"
"I was thinking
Contact with the blades when the motor is running is what initiates the effects, but constant contact is not required.
So, sort of a mixture between the two; the time-matter-exchange effect starts upon contact with the blades, but once the anomalous effect has been activated, it remains so throughout the period during which the mower remains above that patch of ground.
There are multiple blade-height settings— including "close-cropped" in which the blades may as well be flush with the ground, which means if you have the blades low-down enough, and you keep the unmower running in one spot, you could easily have a whole bunch of grass all stuffed into that one spot, or even wind up with an entire tree sprouting in front of you. The larger the object, the longer it takes the unmower to bring it back.
The interior of the unmower is not affected by the material suddenly reappearing around it; everything within the motor compartment will pass through everything it's bringing back. Caution is advised; when testing is conducted, it is advised that personnel who are handling the unmower move backwards rather than forwards if they have left the mower running in one spot for a time period of 30 seconds or more. There has been at least one instance where a tester has found themselves catapulted into the air via a suddenly-appearing tree or bush.
The unmower only brings back organic things. it has affects on plants, animals, and humans… but is only successful in truly "bringing back" plants and animals. And even then it's down to chance, because of the matter-combining effect that occurs within the motor compartment. There have, in the process of testing, been accidental occurrences of animal-plant hybrids, and all of these ended gruesomely.
Any attempts to use the unmower for reanimating a human have been unsuccessful. Even in instances where the entire body was properly reformed, the lawn unmower is not capable of restoring the mind or soul of the person, and the body simply reanimated into a vegetative state.
However, in most instances the body was incapable of reforming completely because it was unable to fit beneath the square outline of the mower's motor-compartment. The reason it works with trees is because they stand upright, rather than lying in repose."
"Containment procedures include but may not be limited to:
-SCP Personnel must ensure that the blade is cleaned as thoroughly as possible with some form of fluid both before and after testing is performed. Solid particles with a (as yet unspecified) certain size mass may be large enough to trigger the reaction once the motor is started again. Therefore, particles of that size or larger must be removed once testing has concluded.
-Any ultra-dense matter-conglomeration that has been brought back by the unmower will be sent to the departments that deal with quantum physics and biological anomalies for further research, whatever those happen to be called in foundation records.
-After testing has concluded, an attempt must be made to account for the matter that was displaced through the unmowing process. While it is not usually a cause for concern if the unmower is used for a short-term project, such as unmowing a lawn, the longer-running research testing sessions can have drastic results if the displaced matter had been ingested or incorporated into a building.
-Because of this particular trait, researchers are required to do a check-up on the history of the patch of ground they plan to use for testing. Any plot of land which is known to have been used within the last 20 years for farming, ranching, logging, or any other profession which lends itself to the provision of essential materials for use in human enterprises is off-limits for testing. Testing is permitted with strict protocols upon any plot of land which has been knowingly used for any of the above more than 20 but fewer than 100 years ago."

A photograph of SCP-6663.
Located in:
--------------------
Sector: 6-G
Unit: 12
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-6663 resides in a 9m by 9m by 3.6m containment suite. The entity is to be brought any items requested and is not to be visited by any personnel at any time (the entity will meet with anyone it wants, any time it wants). Attempts to add further safety precautions or required clearances are unnecessary/impossible due to the nature of the entity (see description).
Description:
SCP-6663 is a spectral entity that refers to it's self as "Azrael", and claims to be the sentient manifestation of Death itself. SCP-6663 has commonly been perceived to be an animated human skeleton, draped in pitch black robes (designated SCP-6663/A) and typically carrying a scythe (designated SCP-6663/B).
Commonly perceived as standing approximately 213.36cm (7ft) tall, the entity lacks any internal organs, skin, muscle fibers, or vascular system. SCP-6663 is willingly detained in his chamber, as normal containment has proven impossible (see Addendum: 6663/1).
SCP-6663's robe possesses the anomalous ability to store objects within it's self, that would typically take up more space than robes of that size should be able to contain (such as SCP-6663/B). It is theorized that the robes contain some sort of pocket dimension within it's self. SCP-6663's scythe possesses the ability to sever the souls of the living from their mortal bodies (according to SCP-6663). SCP-6663/B does not appear to show signs of aging, such as rusting or chipping (some mild warping of the metal is visable). It is speculated by researchers, that the scythe may possibly be indestructable, however, testing does not appear to be a viable option at the present time (for tests on SCP-6663, see Addendum: 6663/2).

Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: The entrance to SCP-XXXX is blocked off by two large metal doors, acting as an airlock before entering. If SCP-XXXX-1 ever leaves the vicinity of SCP-XXXX-1, both metal doors are to be closed and the airlock is to be filled with water, to prevent SCP-XXXX-1 from leaving.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an underground burial chamber in the loading dock beneath the restaurant Blaze's Chophouse. SCP-XXXX is a spatial anomaly, allowing it to exist without other underground structures coming into contact with it. Inside SCP-XXXX exists two rooms, the entrance hall, and the coffin room. In the entrance hall, there are tapestries lining the walls depicting a winged serpent-headed deity coming through a large gate leading to a garden, whilst humans leave offerings at its feet. Above the entrance to the burial chamber are the words "Divinum Serpenti" painted in red. When entering either of the rooms and speaking of any type of religious belief, SCP-XXXX-1 will appear and murder the person talking of other gods. SCP-XXXX-1 is a large 3-meter statue with cloth covering its entire head except for its eyes. Its eyes are made out of an unknown jewel, believed to be something similar to ruby. When SCP-XXXX-1 appears, it will be holding a weapon.
Test Log:
Test A - Date
Subject: D-149, Murdered █ children "In the name of god"
Religious Belief: Christianity
Procedure: D-149 was told to walk into SCP-XXXX and preach while inside.
Results: D-149 spoke of how no matter who or what we are, God loves you. SCP-XXXX-1 then appeared and said, "Your idol is false", before slicing D-149's head clean off.
Test B - Date
Subject: D-771
Religious Belief: Atheism
Procedure: D-771 was instructed to walk into SCP-XXXX and say "There is no such thing as god".
Results: SCP-XXXX-1 appeared, stated that D-771 was incorrect, and proceeded to skin D-771 alive and [DATA EXPUNGED].

An image taken in 2004 showing soldiers investigating a cave entrance, later identified as SCP-XXXX-A-2. The soldiers and their purpose there have never been identified.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Despite the nature of SCP-XXXX, containment is not required because of it's territorial nature. Although 24 hour monitoring is required from Site-███, an outpost built into nearby mountain. If SCP-XXXX is to leave its cave, one unmanned reconnaissance drone is to be deployed and monitor SCP-XXXX's activities. An area of 20 kilometers around SCP-XXXX-A has been cordoned off.
Description: SCP-XXXX is giant humanoid, appearing to be a Homo Neanderthalensis, commonly known as a Neanderthal. It is estimated to be anywhere from 32 to 41 meters tall, its weight is unidentifiable. SCP-XXXX has long, dark hair and a similarly long beard. SCP-XXXX draped in a large animal pelt appearing to be made from a mammoth. Even though mammoths during the Neanderthal period were not as large as the pelt's size, suggesting that there might have been mammoths bigger than originally thought.
SCP-XXXX seemingly has the intelligence equal to that of an early neanderthal, seen using primitive weapons and clothing as well as using large boulders to create art on the walls of SCP-XXXX-A. Several large weapons have been found near SCP-XXXX during its initial discovery. These include a spear, a weapon resembling an axe, a bow, and a club-like weapon. Other actions SCP-XXXX has been seen doing include bathing in a nearby lake, creating art on the walls of SCP-XXXX-A, climbing a nearby mountain and yelling, collecting trees (presumably for firewood), jumping around a fire and making grunt-like noises, and [data expunged].
SCP-XXXX has been seen in two states; It's active state, wheres it's awake and goes about it's normal activities, and it's sleeping state. Since it's discovery, SCP-XXXX has been recorded sleeping anywhere from 3 months to 2 years. SCP-XXXX currently lives in a cave, SCP-XXXX-A. SCP-XXXX-A has two known entrances, these are SCP-XXXX-A-1 and SCP-XXXX-A-2. For ease of reading, these entrances will be called Alpha-1 and Alpha-2. Alpha-1 is the primary entrance to the cave, where SCP-XXXX always exits and enters from. Alpha-2 is a smaller entrance, big enough for humans to enter through and small enough for SCP-XXXX to not be able to fit through.
SCP-XXXX was discovered on 5/13/20██ in ███████, Spain after supposed sightings of a "giant" in the mountains were becoming frequent in nearby towns and villages. The Foundation approved an expedition made up of 4 researchers, 2 geographers, and 5 agents from MTF Alpha-92 ("Sare Gaav") led by Captain Amy Longhan (See Addendum XXXX.1).The expedition resulted in the deaths of most of the expedition team, but put SCP-XXXX into the Foundation's knowledge.
Addendum XXXX.1: Expedition Log
Addendum XXXX.2: Recovery Operations
Addendum XXXX.3: Containment Attempts
On 5/13/20██, a distress call was received by Site-██ a storage facility located close to where the expedition was taking place.
"This is Captain Amy Longhan. We are, no, were on an expedition investigating sightings of a large creature in the [data expunged] mountains. The sightings are true! (Loud bellowing is heard through the audio) There is a large humanoid creature at least 30 meters or more in height! We need Foundation backup here now! (Loud tremors are heard and Captain Longhan begins screaming, the call subsequently ends)
Agents stationed at the storage facility forward the call to a nearby research site, Site-██. The foundation begins preparations for the containment of SCP-XXXX.

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is kept in a modified military vehicle storage unit with reinforced walls. These walls must be actively monitored for structural integrity. If the integrity of any wall is compromised, Site Director Dr. Tilda D. Moose is to be immediately notified and since SCP-XXXX invulnerable MTF Nu-7 personnel must be present to slow down SCP-XXXX if a containment breach occurs.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is a Russian T-80BV tank that is moved to Site 19, SCP-XXXX is identical to The T-80's first (and only) use in combat was in 1994 in the First Chechen War, where they suffered heavy losses in urban combat. Due to design flaws and high operating costs.
The Foundation found SCP-XXXX after receiving a call from the Federal Security Service (FSB). Law enforcement officials in the FSB has received an anonymous call reporting that a tank was driving around recklessly without any person operating it in a forest near Karyzhskiy, Kursk in 14/11/19██.
Any human entering SCP-XXXX transports them to an alternate dimension. Initial expeditions reveal that this dimension is a version of Earth in the year 2001 where Cold War tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union continued past 1991 and into the 2000's leading to United States fired their intercontinental ballistic missiles followed by Soviet Union firing their own, This battle was named “beginning of a new era” World War 3.
The subject’s role within the crew could be determined on where the subject takes a seat inside the tank. Sitting inside the tank does not appear to have an effect on the subject until the hatch is fully closed and after shutting the hatch SCP-XXXX will send you to an alternate dimension in a battlefield, the vicinity of the battlefield has been conformed to be Karyzhskiy Kursk wherein SCP-XXXX was first discovered.
Whilst a person operates the tank and gets a fatal shot at some point in the battle the hatch will open and reveal the corpse on how the subject was killed. The tank will have no visible damage in our dimension.
The only way to return back to reality is via winning the war which can take up to years for the individual, in our universe it could be from multiple seconds to 36 hours. If the individual manages to be successful and win the war the hatch will open to reveal the individual having no reminiscence of what occurred and leaving subjects with post-traumatic stress disorder.
To record information, a voice recorder or a two-way radio must be used. (If a two-way radio is being used subject’s will be asked to radio in every 11 days). A journal will be more reliable since there are interruptions caused by the static on the recorders/radio.
SCP-XXXX constantly attempts to return to the initial location of discovery while not in operation through any means possible. When unsuccessful SCP-XXXX would try again every 12 hours.
THE ONLY PICTURE OF SCP-XXXX
SCP-XXXX-1 Is the only photograph found inside SCP-XXXX the least distorted image taken, There were reports of people seeing a figure in the background. When a subject is holding the photo numerous people see themselves as the figure triggering excessive amounts of anxiety and fear within the subject, if a subject stares at the photograph for a long period SCP-XXXX-1 will provokes it’s subject’s to getting into SCP-XXXX. A digital image of the photograph is safe to view and analyse. Any other photos taken of SCP-XXXX start to distorts and will become beyond recognisable, reasons are unknown.
Discovery Log:
When the Law enforcements found SCP-XXXX running on its own without anyone operating, Officer Lyosha Vasiliev entered the tank for examination and shut the hatch in the process, the officers outside reported hearing instructions/commands from the inside. Few seconds later they found the burned corpse of Lyosha Vasiliev. After that incident SCP-XXXX got towed to a isolated junkyard to be blown up. A professional demolitions expert put approximately 20kg of dynamite inside SCP-XXXX. After the explosion and when the soot was cleared no damage was found.

Item #: SCP-6301
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: All forms of communication, including social media, are to be monitored for any mentions of the 1929 market crash.
Containment will focus on detecting and terminating the Falling Event. Foundation personnel will be dispatched to the event's location and administer the affected person with any medicine-grade benzodiazepines and Class-A amnestics.
If the event has progressed for too long, and reviving the subject is not deemed possible, Foundation personnel must cover up the death and dispose of any remains by any means possible.
Description: SCP-6301 is a rare phenomenon that affects those suffering under anxiety due to financial burdens. Affected individuals will experience a higher level of stress and cannot talk about anything else other than the 1929 market crash. The financial offsets could be as low as losing their paycheck to being robbed of their fortune. Despite the market crash of 1929 having occurred well over a century ago, the afflicted individuals act and speak as if they were first-hand witnesses to the event.
Once an affected person (hereinafter "the subject") falls asleep, the Abode Event is triggered. Abode Events cause the subject to experience a "falling sensation", as if they are free falling. This continues for approximately one hour, until the subject impacts the "floor". Testing shows that even if the subject is aware of their impending crash, they cannot wake up without outside interference. These impacts have always been recorded as fatal. Although seemingly normal to an outside observer, the subject's body shows no life signs, and the entire skeletal system is mangled and crushed.
Discovery: SCP-6301 was discovered shortly after the stock market crash in 1929. Individuals reported dead all suffered from devastating financial losses and were found with their skeletons crushed in bed. The investigation led to the monitoring of any future mentions of the market crash.
Addendum 1. Recovery of Afflicted Subjects. Waking up the subject before "impact" will revive them from the event and harm is obstructed. However, subjects have shown hostility and will attempt to return to sleep. To terminate the event, Foundation Personnel are instructed to follow the Containment Procedures and administer proper medication to the subject. The subject will begin responding normally and the event will be terminated.
Addendum 2. Failure to Recovery Afflicted Subjects. If the event has progressed past any feasible point of recovery, Personnel are instead instructed to dispose the body and cover up the subject's death. Any justification for death is viable if it is preventive of further panic and subsequent event triggering. Testing on subjects by Dr. ███ has shown that subjects simply being aware of the event can trigger it, even if the subject is not suffering from any financial-related losses.
Interview 6301-A: Portion of recorded transcript (█-█-███).
Interviewed: Personnel D-284
Interviewer: Dr. ███
Foreword: Interview done after D-284 had triggered SCP-6301 and was interrupted halfway through the event. D-284 had to be calmed down initially due to frantic panicking over the 1929 crash.
<Begin Log, skip to 00h-13m-24s>
Dr. ███: What exactly did you feel while sleeping?
Personnel D-284: Like I was falling, falling and falling forever-
Dr. ███: Falling? Where were you falling?
Personnel D-284: I don't know, man, some white void. Or the sky? I think I remember seeing the floor, and I was moving towards-
Dr. ███: You saw the floor? And were you falling towards it?
Personnel D-284: Yeah, like I said. I was about to hit it, too, but you guys woke me up. Speaking of which, c-can I go back to sleep? This whole market crash has been worrying me to death-
Dr. ███: (To Foundation Guard) Give him the amnestics.

Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be monitored during the latitudinal line of 50 degrees during the time phrase of 12:00 AM January 1st to 12:00 AM January 13th. SCP security teams are to be on high alert at command towers all across the latitude position and must answer their radios if occurrences are in progress. SCP security is to locate the intended target and placed in a confined room with no windows until 12:00 AM January 13th. If more than one person is targeted by the instance then they are to be placed in the same room with the other targeted people as well.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a phenomenon that occurs in the northern most populated section of the Northern Hemisphere. This phenomenon only occurs during heavy snowfalls in the month of January. If there are no major snowfalls in certain areas then the phenomenon will not occur at that designation until there is snow. Instances of SCP-XXXX occur during the time that a victim sees what appears to be shark dorsal fins in the snow made out of snow that appears to follow them around everywhere they go, slowly getting closer to the victim.
During that period of stalking that SCP-XXXX does, victims start to experience horrific nightmares during the phrase, which lasts around three days. Each night the victim has been stated to experience vivid nightmares that cause the victim to be paralyzed and unable to move any muscle of their body during the nightmare until it ends where the victim is then jolted waked awake. Victims of SCP-XXXX's nightmare cognitohazard effects state that their dreams are simple and pleasant up till they enter the second stages of REM sleep where they changed drastically to be as if they are swimming underwater in a vast ocean with no signs of land in sight. As the nightmare progresses the victim will start to see a shadow approach in the distance and get bigger as it moves closer to the victim. Eventually the shadow shows up as the image of a massive Carcharodon carcharias (great white shark). The shark will approach the victim and open its massive jaws to attack and swallow the victim whole which causes them to finally jolt to an awaken state.
Despite SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects on its prey, it also does have a physical form as well that shows up as gigantic snow like version of the shark in their nightmares, which are known as SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-1 will eventually attack and consume the victim on the third day of stalking which will lead to know remains of the victim left behind except for a huge puddle of blood in the snow that appears to be too much blood for a normal human to have in their body, as bloods were measured to contain at least 6 liters of blood (1.58 gallons).
SCP scientists were alerted of the phenomenon due to a member of the 05-council tracking down the strange happenstance of one of SCP-XXXX's victims. The victim claimed that the fins would “never leave me no matter where I went, they went too.” The victim was checked out by a local doctor and psychiatrist, who found nothing wrong physically, but diagnosed him with schizophrenia and released him into the custody of the 05-council member who wanted to handle the situation. The council member contacted SCP scientists after the victim, labeled SCP-XXXX-2, went missing after walking outside to get something and was gone for longer than intended only to have blood in puddle outside where the door was. SCP personnel sent at least two doctors, a security team named Liger S-09, and two D-class personnel.
During the study of the phenomenon, both D class (D-19373 and D-92748) were hunted down for three days by the SCP, suffering from the same nightmares and were eventually killed by the SCP. Scientists set up Site-39 on location nearby to help do investigations on the phenomenon with several D-Class personnel losing their lives to the SCP-XXXX-1 instances. During these studies, it was discovered that SCP-XXXX-1's could track multiple victims and could only attack their victims if they were in an enclosed area that had any access points and windows that could be compromised *see Incident XXXX-293 and Incident XXXX-294 for details on that.*
