Item #: SCP-5472

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5472 is to be contained within the open space aviary in Site-██, periodic intervals of confinement to small spaces is permitted when required however these intervals should not exceed 1-3 hours. It is to be ensured that all food given to SCP-5472 is organic in nature, its consumption of synthetic or processed foods must be avoided. Instances of SCP-5472-1 are to be terminated following initial examination unless otherwise dictated by research personnel assigned to the anomaly.
No man-made food products are to enter within 20 meters of the containment chamber or otherwise risk containment breach.
Any and all living instances of SCP-5472-1 are to be contained or terminated.
All testing on SCP-5472 must be approved by at least 1 level-03 personnel and involve no researchers inside the containment space.

Description: SCP-5472 appears as a common seagull in coastal regions, otherwise the anomaly will present itself as a city-pigeon. Any time SCP-5472 is purposefully fed man-made food, SCP-5472-1 will manifest within 24 hours of initial exposure, hunting the victim over the next 72 hours of initial exposure. Unless visibly attacked by the instance, all other persons will recognize SCP-5472-1 as whatever species it initially appeared as.
SCP-5472-1 vaguely resembles a microraptor but remains with coloration resembling a seagull, along with some additional red and black regions. SCP-5472-1 has a scaled body and feathered wings. It has a small plume of feathers at the end of its tail. SCP-5472-1 had 8 eyes on either side of its head and small, sharp teeth protruding from its upper jaw.

Addendum: The initial discovery of SCP-2521 occurred after the reporting of an unusual animal attack following the █████████ family’s most recent vacation. A journal was confiscated and the family was administered amnestics. The following is a journal entry written before death.

“There’s always signs we never obey… “NO SMOKING”, “Do not feed the birds”, etc… Well, I fed the birds, and it seems to be the biggest mistake of my life. If you find this, always remember to Obey the Signs…
It’s at my window, the glass is starting to crack and I’m alone, scared—-”

The rest is illegible, with the exception of “DON’T FEED THE BIRDS” written in the victim’s blood.

After animal control was called, an MTF unit was dispatched to contain SCP-5472-1 and the civilian’s family was informed that he had died on a hiking trip to a bear attack. This is the first reported instance of SCP-5472-1.

Test log - 5472-1A
Further testing of SCP-5472 with Class-D personnel concluded that SCP-5472 was only recognized by the Class-D that fed the bird until about 42 hours after initial exposure, of which the Class-D exposed was attacked and only then did the other Class-D intervene, realizing the instance was not a regular bird, but in fact an instance of SCP-5472-1. The instance was shot by security personnel, but not before inflicting serious damage upon the two Class-D personnel.
Both Class-D were terminated after the test.
It is noted that each instance of SCP-5472-1 displays varying levels of intelligence and aggression. A few tests have shown individuals on the intelligent side have even been known to mimic human speech, almost like a parrot, and others, like the average for an avian of the species SCP-5472 had appeared as.
The varying aggression levels have proven testing difficult, as it’s nearly impossible to tell how the birds will react to our personnel.

It is unknown if there are other instances of SCP-5472, but since the containment of the anomaly in 20██, no such reports have been received.

Test Log - 5472-2
SCP-5472 was brought to the ███████████ Rainforest to test if the bird will appear as any tropical species.

SCP-5472’s temporary cage was uncovered. The anomaly appeared to personnel as a bird of the Ara Macao species.

Note: We have been unable to reproduce this effect in any other location thus far.

Picture of SCP-XXXX instance before activation, Shandong Peninsula 1943

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Presumed Neutralized

Special Containment Procedures: Note to researchers, be aware that the following containment procedures were adapted from the records of the Abnormality Institute1.

"Never allow Buddhist monks or Taoists priests to come near the children.

When the instances are born, tattoo the eight-spoked dharmachakra across its back starting from the nape down towards the lower back. At the age of three, etch the Infinite Life Sutra onto its chest.

At night, have two soldiers chant the Sutra of Transcendent Wisdom around its cage. When it is sleeping, face its head towards the Yuan Qiao Mountain and its feet towards the south star.

Feed it a diet consisting of the following medicinal herbs; red yeast rice, astragalus, ginseng, ginkgo biloba, and cinnamon. In the case of severe food shortage, soldiers may feed it normal rations.

When deploying the instances into battle, ensure the following procedures are held. Sedate the instance with valerian root powder and have one soldier (preferably a recruit or other non-essential personnel) take the child behind Japanese fortifications.

When ready, have the soldier whisper the following phrase to the instance, 'If Heaven made someone, earth can find some use for them. A whitewashed crow soon shows black again. Namu Amida Myoho Renge Butsu.'

Expect no return."

If living SCP-XXXX instances are ever secured, please contact Site-444.

Description: SCP-XXXX was a group of anomalous humanoid entities that were used in combat by the National Revolutionary Army2 during the Second Sino-Japanese War.

Approximately 150 SCP-XXXX instances were used in battle and apart from the inscriptions on their bodies, there was no particular physical commonality among them regarding weight, height, or ethnicity. The age of SCP-XXXX instances ranged from 8 to 11.

The use of SCP-XXXX instances was discontinued in 1944, partly because of the occasional mass casualty friendly fire events.

All known information regarding SCP-XXXX originates from the records of both the Abnormality Institute and the “spiritual armaments” division of the NRA.

SCP-XXXX instances were initially developed by the Chinese Soviet Republic (CSR) during the first stage of the Chinese Civil War to be offensively used against the Kuomintang-led Republic of China.

Incomplete records indicate that the project was initiated by Ma Zhihao, the vice chancellor of the CSR, who directed the Abnormality Institute in 1932 to “utilize their expertise in the mystic arts to create great weapons to liberate the homeland.”

The project was developed throughout the early 1930s and transferred to the NRA after the dissolution of the Abnormality Institute following the fire bombing of Chongqing by the Imperial Japanese Army in 1938. The destruction of Chongqing, which was the headquarters of the Abnormality Institute, allowed numerous SCPs3 and anomalous objects to escape containment.

Anomaly Case #: SCP-5XXX

Range Class: Worldwide (possible)

Disruption Class: Dark

VERDICT: Chaos - Silent Satellite

Description of Anomaly: Entity 5XXX is a catacomb that either resides in a pocket dimension that it can overlap with this reality or is a selectively intangible state in relation to the rest of all matter except for targeted corpses. Whatever the true nature of Entity 5XXX, this is known of Entity 5XXX: Entity 5XXX targets freshly buried graves, using its ability to make the targeted corpse intangible before returning tangibility to it once inside. The corpse will then be lifted and moved by telekinetic forces (presumably from Entity 5XXX) into a hole, from which the corpse will be inserted in. All this information is known due to the observation afforded to the Society for the Chartering of the Paranormal by Daisy Mortan, or DOA-UNIT-913.

Daisy Mortan (known previously as DOA-UNIT-913) is an artificial humanoid construct who resides in Entity 5XXX, exploring its insides while relaying visual and sound info to an IBM supercomputer (denoted as Mortan Receiver) dating to the 1980s. Mortan Receiver was discovered by the SCP in 2004 while investigating "disappearing corpse", found in a secret lab in an abandoned private college, with the words "DOA-Communicant-913 - Property of the Department of Abstractions" imrpinted on it.; contact with Daisy Mortan was established soon after.

Fable's Box of Bad and Naughty Drafts

rating: 0+x

meandudylah.png

Drawing of SCP-XXXX-1 by Toby McEnderson, age 6.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is currently cleared for nightly usage by Toby McEnderson between the hours of 19:00 and 21:00. One Foundation agent must be posted in his bedroom while SCP-XXXX is in use.

When not in use, SCP-XXXX is to remain stored in Site-96's high security item storage.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a children's book titled "The Friend With Many Arms" with no known author or publisher. The book is illustrated in a style similar to non-anomalous children's literature4 and written in the style of books aimed at children aged 3-5 years old. The story contents of the book contain a mild cognitohazard that results in migranes upon initial reading, but are otherwise harmless. The book depicts the story of a formless entity named Ud'itlah as they wander the cosmos searching for a friend.

uditlahspace.png

Reproduction of one of the pages found in SCP-XXXX.

SCP-XXXX's anomalous abilities manifest when the story is read by Toby McEnderson. When he opens the book, a large formless entity5 identical to the one depicted in the book6 will manifest within 10 meters of him. SCP-XXXX-1 will then proceed to engage Toby McEnderson in friendly conversation, typically finishing its interactions with him by reading him to sleep. SCP-XXXX-1 will demanifest once the Toby has fallen asleep.

SCP-XXXX-1 displays a range of anomalous abilities involving shapeshifting, teleportation, and telekinesis. Viewing SCP-XXXX-1 directly also results in a mild cognitohazardous effect, causing migraines in the viewer similar to those caused by SCP-XXXX. Both SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-1's cognitohazardous effects rapidly diminish with regular exposure.

Addendum XXXX.1: Discovery

SCP-XXXX was discovered in the possession of then 4 year old Toby McEnderson. Toby had been reported to local police by his grandmother as missing. Foundation agent Basil Sias7 became involved when reports of Toby being sighted alongside a massive unidentified entity came to the Foundation's attention. Due to initial reports from those having seen the entity claiming that it was difficult to perceive and visual contact resulted in migraines, Agent Sias were deployed with anti-cognitohazard gear. The entity was not present upon initial contact, and Toby and SCP-XXXX were retrieved without incident. The local population was successfully amnecized and there have been no reports of lasting mental, emotional, or psychological damage.

Due to initial assumptions that Toby McEnderson had anomalous capabilities, they were originally given the classification of SCP-XXXX and placed under strict containment procedures. Due to rapidly declining mental health and a lack of SCP-XXXX-1 manifestations, Toby McEnderson's containment procedures were reviewed and the anomalous capabilities of SCP-XXXX were discerned. Toby McEnderson was transferred to a low-risk humanoid containment cell and permitted nightly access to SCP-XXXX.

Addendum XXXX.2: Interview with Toby McEnderson

Interviewed: Toby McEnderson

Interviewer: Agent Basil Sias

Foreward: The following interview was conducted at the request of the Department of Sciences as part of a review of Toby McEnderson's containment procedures. As Agent Sias had conducted the past four interviews with Toby and established a positive rapport with the child, he was assigned to conduct the interview on the DoS's behalf.

<Begin Log>

Agent Sias: Hey there, Toby! How are you doing tonight buddy?

Toby: I'm ok, Mr. Sias.

Agent Sias: You don't look ok. You look kinda sad to me. Is something wrong?

[Toby looks down towards his lap and fiddles with his hands.]

Agent Sias: You can tell me anything, bud. You won't be in trouble, I promise. You know what, we can pinky promise on it!

[Agent Sias holds out his little finger to Toby. Toby seems hesitant at first, but then hooks his own finger with Agent Sias. The two shake, and Toby appears to relax somewhat.]

Toby: Umm… I'm a little sad.

Agent Sias: Why's that? Did something happen?

[Toby shakes his head.]

Toby: I haven't been able to see my friend.

Agent Sias: Really, now? Who's your friend?

Toby: Udy-Lah.

Agent Sias: And what did "Udy-Lah" look like? We might be able to find them and let them come visit.

Toby: Udy-Lah is big and… squishy. It hurts a little to look at them sometimes, but they're not scary. They have lots of arms and they're very nice. We can't find them, though. They live in my book and someone took my book away from me.

[Toby sniffles.]

Agent Sias: He does? Now you're being silly! People can't live in books!

[Toby sniffles again, then giggles.]

Toby: Yes they can! Udy-Lah lives in my book! They come out and talk to me and read me stories at night.

Agent Sias: Do they, now? What kinds of things do you two talk about.

Toby: Umm…

[Toby tenses up again and begins fiddling with his hands once again.]

Agent Sias: It's ok, Toby. We pinky promised, remember? You can tell me anything.

Toby: We talk about… my mommy and daddy. They're with the universe now.

Agent Sias: With the universe now?

Toby: That's what Udy-Lah said. They said they spoke to mommy and daddy and that's what they said.

Agent Sias: "Udy-Lah" sounds very nice. Can I meet them?

Toby: Yeah! You just gotta open the book and we can meet them!

<End Log>

Following this interview, Agent Sias and Toby McEnderson opened SCP-XXXX resulting in an SCP-XXXX-1 manifestation. Despite initial concerns, SCP-XXXX-1 was cordial and polite with Foundation personnel. Following a discussion between personnel assigned to SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-1, and the DoS, SCP-XXXX's new containment procedures were agreed upon.

Addendum XXXX.3: Observation Log

udylahreading.png

Drawing of SCP-XXXX-1 by Toby McEnderson, age 6. Text written on the back says "UDY-LAH READING TO ME"

Subjects: SCP-XXXX-1, Toby McEnderson

Date: January 13th, 2021

Foreward: Following revised containment procedures, Toby McEnderson was given a standard humanoid containment chamber furnished to resemble a child's bedroom. Toby was given permission to request any alterations within reason. The room was equipped to allow Foundation personnel to continue monitoring Toby and SCP-XXXX-1 as needed. The following is an observation log recording an interaction between SCP-XXXX-1 and Toby approximately two weeks following these changes.

<Begin Log>

[Agent Sias arrives at Toby's bedroom with SCP-XXXX. Toby looks up from blocks he had been playing with and runs over to Agent Sias. He takes the book and opens it, with SCP-XXXX-1 manifesting as expected. The entity glances towards Agent Sias and towards the observation window.]

Toby: Udy-Lah!

[Toby attempts to hug SCP-XXXX-1, and then proceeds to bring various toys over to the entity.]

Toby: What do you wanna play tonight? We could play… umm… Pokémon? Ooh, or maybe Spider-Man?

SCP-XXXX-1: Actually, Toby, how about we just read a story tonight?

Toby: But I'm not sleepy yet!

SCP-XXXX-1: I know, I know. Promise I'll make it extra special, ok? I finished writing that special story for you. Go get ready for bed and we can get started.

[Toby perks up and runs off to their privacy area. SCP-XXXX-1 undulates towards the bed, several eyes fixed on the observation window. Toby returns a few minutes later and climbs into the bed.]

SCP-XXXX-1: Did you brush your teeth and wash your face?

Toby: Uh-huh!

SCP-XXXX-1: Good! Now then, let's get started.

[SCP-XXXX-1 extends a tentacle towards the bedside table and picks up SCP-XXXX. It opens the book and begins reading. It waves various tentacles over the book's pages. As it does, the various glow-in-the-dark star stickers affixed to the bedroom ceiling descend and float in the air around the bed.]

SCP-XXXX-1: Once upon an eternity, there was a lonely [COGNITOHAZARD REDACTED]8named Ud'itlah.

[An image of the entity from SCP-XXXX floats from the page and hovers in the center of the room. The room goes dark, with only this figure, SCP-XXXX-1, and Toby remaining visible.]

Toby: They look lonely.

SCP-XXXX-1: That's right Toby. They were very lonely. They were born a very, very long time ago. Before even the oldest star.

[SCP-XXXX-1 waves its tentacles through the plastic star stickers. Several of them begin to glow and gather together over the figure forming a single, large star. The figure looks up towards the star.]

SCP-XXXX-1: "Will you be my friend?" Ud'itlah asked the star. "I cannot," the star replied, "for I might accidentally burn you up." Ud'itlah was sad, but they understood. "Maybe I'll never find a friend," they thought.

[The figure appears to fall over and begins to cry. Meanwhile, the star above grows larger before collapsing in on itself, forming a massive ball of darkness in the stars projected around the room. The figure appears startled and looks up at the new formation.]

SCP-XXXX-1: "Who are you?" Ud'itlah asked. "Will you be my friend?" "I cannot," the black hole replied, "for I might accidentally eat you up." Ud'itlah was sad once again.

[The figure collapses over once more. SCP-XXXX-1 begins moving its tentacles in circular motions, and the stars in the room begin to move. The room is slowly filled with what appear to be various nebulae and other cosmic bodies created by arts and crafts supplies from Toby's bedroom. Several stars blink in and out over the course of several minutes, until a blue marble appears. The figure lifts an approximation of a head, and undulates towards the marble.]

SCP-XXXX-1: Eventually, Ud'itlah came across a little blue planet.

[Several crude representations of smiling human faces manifest across SCP-XXXX-1's body.]

SCP-XXXX-1: Ud'itlah was surprised. They had never seen something like this before! It wasn't large like a star, and it wasn't hungry like a black hole. "Who are you?" they asked, "Will you be my friend?" The planet, however, didn't respond to them.

[A framed photograph of Mr. and Mrs. McEnderson floats over towards the figure. Several stars attach themselves to the frame.]

SCP-XXXX-1: The universe itself saw Ud'itlah, though, and responded.

[The figure looks towards the photo.]

SCP-XXXX-1: The universe said, "What is wrong, Ud'itlah?" "I have no one to call my friend!" Ud'itlah responded. The universe looked at Ud'itlah with pity.

[Several more stars wrap themselves around the figure.]

SCP-XXXX-1: "No one deserves to be alone," the universe said, embracing Ud'itlah. "Down there is a planet called Earth, and on that planet is a little boy that is very dear to us. He's very lonely, just like you, and he needs a friend as well. Find him, and take care of him for us."

[Toby appears to have fallen asleep. SCP-XXXX-1 produces several tentacles and carefully tucks him in.]

SCP-XXXX-1: Ud'itlah knew what to do. He began working on a special book, and sent it down to Earth where Toby would find it. As long as Toby had that book, the two would always be together. They quickly became the best of friends, and were never lonely again. The universe itself had brought them together.

[Several of SCP-XXXX-1's eyes fixate on the observation window.]

SCP-XXXX-1: They're in a special place right now. It can be a little cold sometimes, and even a little scary, but there's lots of people there that will take care of them both and keep them safe. No matter what, Ud'itlah and Toby will always have each other, and maybe even someday they'll be able to see the world together. Together they'll live happily ever after.

SCP-XXXX-1 closes the book and places it on Toby's bedside table. A mouth appears on SCP-XXXX-1's body and gives Toby a kiss on the forehead. SCP-XXXX-1 glances towards the observation window once again before demanifesting.

<END LOG>

Request to grant Toby McEnderson permanent access to SCP-XXXX is pending approval.

6kollages:

The quality of work submitted for the 6000 Contest has been staggering - but not surprising. These collages17 are inspired by some of those works whose use of imagery caught my attention. I hope you enjoy them; whether or not you do, the articles are all worth a read!

I'm planning on doing some more while voting continues, and releasing them in batches, so if you have a suggestion feel free to mention it in the comments!1819

I had to downsize the images. Please let me know20 if you want any in their full, crisp, glossy, high-resolution glory!

scp-6000

An instance of SCP-6000

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-6000 is to be kept in a dome-shaped greenhouse fitted to the object's size at Bio Site-42. The greenhouse is fitted with automated irrigation system and fertile soil at least 7.5 meters deep. Foundation personnel are permitted access to the greenhouse with Security Clearance Level 3 or higher, and are required to wear special isolation suits before entering. Upon leaving the greenhouse, personnel must be decontaminated before removing their suits, and must be tested for any irregular brain activity before leaving the premises.

In the case Foundation staff members are infected with SCP-6000's pollen, they are to be immediately quarantined, stripped of security clearance, and treated by on-site neuropsychologists. Should any affected persons be detected outside of Foundation custody, they are to be located and treated, after which they will be administered appropriate amnestics.

Wild SCP-6000 instances are to be approached with the aforementioned safety measures and transplanted to the nearest Foundation facility. If the instance is not feasible to be transplanted without civilian exposure, the instance is must be destroyed.

Description: SCP-6000 is a species of cottonwood trees (Populus sect. Aigeiros) which grows money. The currency it grows depends on what country an SCP-6000 instance is planted in. When compared to actual banknotes, the SCP-6000 banknotes are a 1:1 match; state-of-the-art counterfeit detectors are unable to distinguish between actual bills and SCP-6000 bills. In addition, molecular analysis of the bills does not give any suggestion of anomalous properties or indication of their anomalous origin.

The anthers of an SCP-6000 instance produce pollen which contain sporozoans22 and when inhaled by a human, the sporozoans release malicious spores that attack several parts of the brain, most notably the frontal cortex. This will result in a noticeable increase in the affected person's compulsive behavior, specifically towards collecting the money growing from an SCP-6000 instance. Prolonged exposure to the pathogen causes the host to develop narcissistic and asocial behaviors and will subsequently start neglecting others in favor of his/her newly obtained wealth. The object takes this into account by letting its money grow slightly faster each time an individual removes a bill from its branches. As his/her mental state worsens, the host will also start neglecting necessary resources such as food and drinks and eventually expire due to malnutrition.

Discovery: On February 28th, ████, a team of researchers was sent out study a new anomaly after the Foundation was alerted to several missing-persons cases from Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. The first instance of SCP-6000 was subsequently discovered, but the Foundation lost contact with the research team three weeks later. MTF unit Theta-4 was sent out to investigate on March 19th.
