Item#: SCP-1420

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-1420 is currently being contained in a standard low level containment locker in the Sub-Level containment wing at Site-17. Any testing involving the hatching of SCP-1420-1 instances must be approved by at least 2 Level-3 researchers with written permission. All instances of SCP-1420-1 are to be contained within standard biological containment cells in the Site Biological-Wing at Site-17, and are not to exceed a population of 17 Individuals and any excess instances of SCP-1420 are to be terminated via euthanization. Any eggs produced by SCP-1420-1 are to be incinerated upon hatching. Only 1 SCP-1420-2 specimen is to be contained at any given time. Any excess specimens are to be terminated immediately after hatching and any SCP-1420-1 specimens it produced are to also be terminated and the carcasses are to be incinerated.

Description: SCP-1420 is a standard cardboard egg carton that painted with non-anomalous green and white paint. Object has the word EGG painted on the center of the carton with an anthropomorphic Domestic Chicken(Gallus gallus domesticus) and a Green Anole(Anolis carolinensis)on either side of the word. Genetic testing shows that SCP-1420 has no genetic difference than standard cardboard. Inside SCP-1420 is a total of 18 eggs that have the same size and shape as commercially available chicken eggs, however all Instances have a greyish-green coloration and the exterior is made of a combination of genetic material consistent with both Domestic Chickens(Gallus gallus domesticus) and an as of yet unidentified Reptilian genetic material and is described as “Extremely leathery and elastic” by personnel. SCP-1420 also appears to produce new Instances at a rate of 1 Instance per day in the event of any Instance removal or destruction. In the event of any Instances being cracked or damaged in any way the results in the object shattering will produce a single instance of SCP-1420-1

SCP-1420-1 are organisms that have a combination of avian and reptilian features. Organisms vary in size and morphology but the majority of instances posses the following characteristics:
Wings or forelimbs with long flight feathers allowing short distance flight and gliding
Spines along the Instances back, tail and limbs
Skin covered in feathers and or scales
Jaw morphology possessing both avian and reptilian features including a beak, teeth, venom sacs and jacobson's organs.
The presence of multiple limbs and wings
At least 2-20 eyes along the head and neck

Instances appear to rapidly mature with most reaching sexual maturity within four hours of emergence. At least 65% of all instances expire either upon hatching or shortly after birth. Cause of death typically appears to be due to either lack of or additional organs as well as multiple physical abnormalities. Testing the reproductive system of instances shows that all instances are born fertile and are able to reproduce with identical Instances of SCP-1420-1. Eggs produced by SCP-1420 instances typically have a much longer incubation period than instances produced by SCP-1420 with gestation taking between 1-4 months and are designated SCP-1420-1a. These instances are identical to the parent organism, testing shows any Organism produced from the same clutch of eggs are able to reproduce with each other and any organisms produced by these instances show no genetic abnormalities consistent with inbreeding, how exactly this process functions is as of yet unclear.

SCP-1420-2 are serpentine organisms that are covered in feathers as opposed to scales. Instances grow between 2-12 meters and weigh around 1.1 kilograms-1.5 tons, Instances have between 2-6 wing like appendages rendering them capable of flight and possess multiple arm like appendages with beak like mouth structures that are used in defense. Autopsy shows that instances have a Womb like structure inside their larynx that appears to be fully functional despite having no reproductive organs whatsoever. This structure is able to produce up to 5 Instances of SCP-1420-1 at once that are them released by SCP-1420-2 by rapidly extending its lower jaw and regurgitating any Instances that it had gestated, these instances appear to imprint on SCP-1420-2 and will aggressively defend SCP-1420-2 in the event that is physically harmed in any way.

Recovery Log: SCP-1420 first came under Foundation attention after multiple reports of an unidentified organism mauling livestock in the town of [REDACTED],Oregan. The Instance now designated SCP-1420-2a was found by foundation agents after the disappearance of a group of 7 hikers who had traveled in the area three days prior. The Instance assaulted foundation agents on sight and killed 3 and wounded another 7 before its termination. An investigation into its origin began immediately and SCP-1420 was recovered from a cabin found 1.6 kilometers away from where the instance had been encountered. SCP-1420 was founded opened with four Instances on a nearby stove. In addition, blood found on multiple knives, counters and appliances as well as several kilograms of frozen meat were identified as various instances of SCP-1420-1. A secondary instance of SCP-1420-2 was found restrained in the cabins basement with multiple scars across its larynx, the remains of numerous instances of SCP-1420-1 were found in various stages of decomposition. The identity of the owner of SCP-1420 remains unknown but is known to be a common purchaser from the GOI [REDACTED].The object was placed under Foundation custody and amnestics were given to all witnesses.

Observation Log 1420: The following is a list of notable Instances of SCP-1420-1 and SCP-1420-2 that were produced by SCP-1420.

SCP-1420-1a
Description: A small avian-like organism similar in appearance to a Eurasian Bullfinch(Pyrrhula pyrrhula) and had brightly colored feathering consistent with newborn birds.

Behavior: Instance was observed to stumble awkwardly around its containment cell for two minutes before collapsing and ceased all movement with the exception of occasional twitching. D-1567 was sent to retrieve the specimen for dissection when its abdomen violently ruptured spraying him with a dark red caustic liquid which caused chemical burns on contact. D-1567 suffered severe burns and was terminated the following week. How the organism was able to produce this fluid and how it was able to be unaffected by it is unknown.

SCP-1420-1c
Description: A small but extremely muscular organism resembling a Sand Viper(Cerastes vipera) and possessed a prehensile clawed tail and a pair of small forelimbs, had feathering on its neck and tail.

Behavior: Crawled rapidly across its containment chamber for 3 hours and attempted to breach containment by climbing across the walls of its cell but was unsuccessful. Was shown to be and ambush predator in nature and used its forelimbs to grip prey items while it fed. Died 3 hours after birth, cause of death was determined to be a lack of a functional Vascular system.

SCP-1420-1d
Description: A slender 2.5 meter reptilian organism with small black and red feathering. Was bipedal in nature and had a large brightly colored frill that was highly reflective in nature.

Behavior: Paced its cell for 15 minutes and would repeatedly stare at the observation room outside its containment chamber. Around an hour after hatching personnel attempted to remove the organism its displayed its frill which produced an extremely bright burst of light which disoriented the surrounding personnel allowing it to breach containment. SCP-1420 was able to escape Site-17 killing 15 personnel before being terminated by foundation agents.

SCP-1420-1e
Description: Resembled a newborn chicken, lacked functioning eyes and hindlimbs. Autopsy showed its organs and skeletal system were more akin to a reptile than a bird.

Behavior: Nothing is known about the instances behavior as it died immediately upon hatching. Organism was removed without incident, incinerated after autopsy.

SCP-1420-1f
Description: A 3 meter reptilian organism. Possessed feathering on its forelimbs and tail rendering it capable of gliding. Had three rows of highly toxic spines along its back. Organism was bipedal and was able to change color via chromatophores.

Behavior: Highly aggressive and intelligent. Was observed to use its color changing ability blend into the walls of its chamber. A second instance was introduced to observe possible breeding behavior. Both breached containment during a standard guard rotation killing 7. Current whereabouts remain unknown.

SCP-1420-1g
Description: A 4 meter feathered serpentine organism resembling an adult male Eastern Green Mamba(Dendroaspis angusticeps). Possessed 18 highly flexible scales which function as large paddles. Instance

Behavior: Predominately aquatic in nature and moves extremely poorly on land. Was shown to feed on aquatic organisms such as fish and other aquatic organisms. despite its ambush predator hunting strategy it does still retains an highly potent neurotoxic venom and all personnel assigned to maintain its enclosure are to be made aware of this.

SCP-1420-1h
Description: Instance resembled a female Northern Cassowary(Casuarius unappendiculatus) although its feathers were observed to glow bright blue, this glowing effect was later determined to be caused by high amounts of gamma radiation.

Behavior: Consistent with that of female of its species and would assault any organism that entered its vicinity. Due to the instance constantly emitting radiation from its body removing it from SCP-1420s containment chamber proved to be extremely difficult. Instance was able to breach containment killing 8 personnel in the process before being terminated by onsite agents although another 15 personnel died from either cancer caused by SCP-1420-1h or from Radiation poisoning caused by interacting with its corpse.
