Item #: SCP-3055

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Instances of SCP-3055 are to be stored in a secure containment chamber at Site-██. Access to SCP-3055 requires Level 3 clearance. Personnel interacting with SCP-3055 must wear protective gloves and eye protection. Any unauthorized personnel attempting to touch or alter SCP-3055 should be immediately detained for questioning. Halloween decorations or any form of carving on SCP-3055 instances are strictly prohibited. Personnel must refrain from altering the existing faces or adding any new carvings to the pumpkins. Unauthorized modifications may trigger unpredictable effects and pose a risk to both personnel and the integrity of SCP-3055.

Each SCP-3055 instance must be packed with protective wires that connect to the inside of the pumpkins.

These wires serve two purposes:

The wires prevent accidental contact with the interior of SCP-3055, reducing the risk of injury from the bitemark phenomenon.

The wires allow continuous monitoring of SCP-3055’s internal state. Any unusual activity or changes can be detected promptly.

A biweekly inspection of SCP-3055 instances is mandatory. Trained personnel should verify the integrity of the protective wiring and assess any changes in the pumpkins’ appearance. Any signs of deterioration, wire damage, or anomalous behavior must be reported immediately to the Site Director.

Description: SCP-3055 consists of 12 jack-o’-lanterns, each measuring 9.29 cm x 9.10 cm in diameter. These pumpkins were discovered in various residential houses around ██████, New York. Despite their small size, SCP-3055 exhibits several anomalous properties:

Each SCP-3055 instance bears a unique carved face. These faces range from traditional grinning expressions to more abstract designs. The carvings appear to be of professional quality, with intricate details. When a subject touches an SCP-3055 instance, the carved face undergoes a rapid transformation. The new face is different from the original carving and varies in style, emotion, and features. The process takes approximately 30 seconds.

After the face transformation, any individual who looks at the altered SCP-3055 or touches its changing face experiences a sudden, painful bite. The bite leaves a large, orange-tinted, bloody mark on the subject’s skin. The severity of the injury corresponds to the subject’s proximity to SCP-3055 during the transformation.

Dissection of SCP-3055 reveals an interior filled with a combination of black ink and nail polish. The purpose of this mixture remains unknown. Attempts to analyze the composition have been inconclusive. If the ink or nail polish inside SCP-3055 is touched, the pumpkins emit a bright light yellow flash, incinerating nearby eyes and mouths.

Addendum 3055-A: Subject D-47661 touched SCP-3055-2 during a routine inspection. Within seconds, the subject’s arm exhibited rapid swelling and severe bruising. Despite immediate medical attention, the bitemark remained unhealed, and the bleeding persisted for at least 5-10 minutes. Subject D-47661 reported intense pain and disorientation during this time.

Addendum 3055-B: Subject D-9380 intentionally touched SCP-3055-4. Surprisingly, the subject’s hand survived the bitemark phenomenon. However, shortly after contact, the subject became disoriented and fixated on SCP-3055-4. Subject D-9380 repeatedly attempted to touch the pumpkin, seemingly drawn to its changing face. The subject’s behavior required sedation and removal from SCP-3055’s vicinity.

Addendum 3055-C: Subject D-11304 decided to touch SCP-3055-9. The resulting bitemarks extended beyond the hand and arms, covering the subject’s entire upper body. Notably, the eyes were completely incinerated, leaving only charred sockets. Subject D-11304 now perceives SCP-3055-9’s lighting faces as their sole visual input. The subject’s condition is irreversible, and they require specialized containment.

Addendum 3055-D: Subject D-5491 touched SCP-3055-10. The bitemark on the subject’s hand was significant but not infectable due to SCP-3055-10’s unique transformation. However, approximately 3 minutes after contact, the bitemark turned dark red, and the subject’s eyes and mouth incinerated. Subject D-5491 succumbed to severe injuries and expired shortly afterward.

Further research is necessary to understand the mechanisms behind SCP-3055’s effects and the variations observed in different subjects.
