Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4188 is to be removed from all GPS devices and maps posting it's location. In addition all traffic including aerial is to be diverted under guise of military operations. Specially issued ear protection is to be worn at all times by all personnel, failure to comply could result in permanent brain damage or death.
Description:SCP-4118 takes the form of a low hum that permeates over what was once the town of ████, ██████. It cycles on and off in one hour intervals making a humming noise that causes all higher brain functions to cease, and all sentient life forms to continue the last action made before exposure. Measuring from the start of the cycle the town lasted exactly 24 days before the last resident ceased to live. In some cases it seems that the last action is not specific enough and thus they continue an action that is slightly modified.(example: actions in a sequence, like in martial arts.) It is unknown if muscle memory plays into this as these effects only happened in a small and random group.
Animals of low intelligence appear to be unaffected making it likely that sentience plays a role in the effects. High intelligence animals have worse fates than the humans living in the town. Pigs seek water during the effects causing a high rate of drowning. Parrots bang their heads against walls or rub them against the floor in an attempt to rid themselves of the noise. Other animals yet to be tested.
Those that have heard the hum for two cycles or more report memory loss, and decay of higher brain functions especially motor skills, the effects worsen with each additional cycle until vegetation. All vegetated subjects die shortly after even with proper care emitting an imitation of the hum at all times in exact time with the cycles.
Recordings of the noise have a similar but much diminished effect. Copies of these files can be found at AV storage unit 36. source of hum yet unknown.
When a non vegetative subject uses SCP-4060 http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-4060 by placing a tape of the sound of the hum on the right side and any other object on the left side memory loss minimizes, and they are left with no knowledge of the anomaly. A small percentage of subjects of this treatment however suffered immediate vegetation though without the humming, it is unknown if consciousness can be recovered from this state this being our only hope for Dr. ████.
