Eyeless Man

Item #: SCP-4186
Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-4186 is to be kept in a 5 m x 5 m containment cell with concrete floor. Its containment cell is equipped with laser and sound detectors at all corners of the cell, and under the bed. Due to the nature of the specimen, security cameras cannot be installed [see Description]. Security procedures for SCP-4186 include remote heartbeat and ECG monitors, inhalational anesthetic released by devices installed inside the cell, sedatives and tranquilizer guns (during breaching attempts and physical body examination), lullabies and calming music (during anxious phases; to calm the specimen). Should SCP-4186 breaches out of its containment, infrared visors and echolocation can be used to detect its presence.
The entity has asked for:
1 Twin size bed (Granted)
1 Coffee table and 1 chair (Denied)
1 Human companion (Denied)
1 Bible (DeniedGranted)
Literature books (DeniedGranted)
Encyclopedia books (Denied)
Internet access and electronics (Denied)

Description:
SCP-4186 is a humanoid entity resembling a male in early 20s, estimated to be 180cm. The entity has multiple 'blood-soaked bandages' on its body, which are actually congenital body marks with textures similar to actual wound bandages. These marks are yellowish-white in color, with red areas resembling blood stain. The 'bandages' marks are observed to be on its 'face' (covering the 'eyes' area), 'neck', 'right shoulder' 'left arm', 'groins', 'thighs' and 'left knee'. SCP-4186 has no genitals. Its appendages strongly resemble human, but lacking fingernails and fingerprints; in addition, the specimen has no earprints.
SCP-4186 appears to be semi-immortal. No aging signs have been observed in the entity. When SCP-4186 is gravely injured, it will lose consciousness and go into hibernation. The duration of its hibernation depends on how serious the injury it sustains; the longest period is recorded to be 2 months. SCP-4186 is capable of pain sensation. It has tried to manipulate personnel for its own gain by feigning pain. It is also capable of bleeding, although blood drops and stains will disappear from the surface after 2 minutes since the initial bleeding (see Addendum 4186.03). C14 and N13 radiolabeling has shown that its body is composed of the same atoms found in living organisms. However, SCP-4186's version of these atoms possesses the ability to "reconnect" with each other, which partially explains its semi-immortality.
(Updated on ██/██/██): SCP-4186 is found to have "vision" and can use this "vision" to read books, to interact with subjects or to observe its containment cell. This is a surprise discovery for the researchers since SCP-4186 is initially reported to be blind and possess no ocular organs. In some rare occasions, SCP-4186 has reported a loss of vision due to "low light" or "extreme bright light" even though its containment cell is sufficiently lighted. It is theorized that the entity's vision is a collection of processed visions taken from subjects or visual devices available around SCP-4186 in a radius of ██ m. Another theory is that the specimen develops the visual system over time as it adapts to the human world. More researches should be conducted to understand the complexity of the specimen's visual processing mechanism.

SCP-4186 can speak, write and read the various human language in addition to its native language. It is reported that its native language sounds like incoherent whispers and tree leaves rustling. SCP-4186 has given up attempts to communicate with researchers and personnel in its native language when it acknowledges that there is no translation available. Funding for researches on translating SCP-4186's native language is now ceased since they are deemed unnecessary.

SCP-4186 is intangible to optical instruments (e.g: camera), vision-accessible objects (e.g: windows, mirror) and living organisms with functioning visual system. Any attempts to physically harm or examine SCP-4186 with a working visual system are nullified, although visual acknowledgment by biological ocular organs is viable. In addition, it is found that visual recording devices such as cameras and video recorders are negatively affected in the presence of SCP-4186: videos and photos are glitched, pixels are scrambled and cameras can automatically shut down. Through various researches, the radius of effect is found to be within 5 meters. Due to this ability, weapons with scopes are not effective against this specimen.
Sketches and paintings cannot be generated through direct observation in the radius of 5 meters since SCP-4186 can induce temporary blindness and/or loss of consciousness to the artists. Drawings generated through descriptions given by another direct observer (indirect sketching) are feasible.
SCP-4186 is observed to have an introvert personality. It appears to be shy and easy to anxious in the presence of strangers. However, it displays intellectual capability equal to a human adult (IQ 130+- 10); additionally, SCP-4186 is curious and eager to learn about a human's world.
Anxiety, panic, anger, sadness or any form of negative emotions will trigger SCP-4186's destructive ability [in the radius of 5 meters] toward optical instruments, vision-accessible objects and visual systems of the living organisms, whether said objects and systems are functioning or not. There are reports of █ people killed due to their eyes exploded (see Addendum 4186.01) and █ people permanently blinded, one of the victims is Agent █████ from MTF-Alpha 9 (see Addendum 4186.03). This ability is not triggered at the will of SCP-4186, nor observed when the entity is calm. Constant monitor of the specimen's heartbeats and ECG waves is extremely vital so security procedures can be applied to prevent any incident beforehand since a femtosecond of anxiety can still trigger this destructive reflex. When the entity is calm, it is cooperative and docile.

Addendum:
Addendum 4186.01:
SCP-4186 was encountered in various cities (█████, █████, █████████, █████, ██████████) across Europe. It was known on the Internet as one of the urban legends, "Eyeless Man", due to witness description of its appearance resembling "a young man with eye sockets and bloody bandages". Multiple attempts to take photos and record videos the specimen failed due to its intrinsic ability.
It was noticed by the Foundation when reports of homicidal and mass injured events ██████████ surface. Victims were killed as their eyes exploded with no additional injuries. Arrest attempts of ordinary law enforcers were ineffective, resulting in mass death and permanent blindness to surviving victims. Based on evidence at crime scenes and witness's description, MTF-Alpha 9 came up with a plan to capture the entity using echolocation, infrared visors, and tranquilizer guns. It was reported that the number of sedatives needed to incapacitate SCP-4186 was 7 times the amount used in an average human.
Upon regaining consciousness, SCP-4186 was interviewed via an intercom.
Interview Log

Interviewer: Dr. ████.
Interviewee: SCP-4186

[BEGIN LOG]
Dr. ████: [Why did you kill them?]
SCP-4186: [incoherent whispers and tree rustling noises]
Dr. ████: [I can't understand what you are saying.]
SCP-4186: (in English)[I don't intend to do so. They scared me.]
Dr. ████: [What did they do to scare you?]
SCP-4186: [I was 'thrown' down here before I can realize anything. I wandered around aimlessly. Then, a bunch of masked people came. They tried to do something bad and I'm scared. I was really scared. Then, the next moment I know, they were all lying on the ground. Red fluid everywhere. One of them screamed "I can't see", I remember so.]
Dr. ████: [So, you are saying you are not from this world? And you don't realize that you are capable of harming human?]
SCP-4186: [I'm from (incoherent whispers). No, I don't know I have that ability.]
Dr. ████: [What about the police, and other innocent people?]
SCP-4186: (silence)
Dr. ████: [Were they scared you as well?]
SCP-4186: [Yes…]
Dr. ████: [So, back to the bad people. What happened to be exact?]
SCP-4186: (silence)
Dr. ████: [Your cooperation will be helpful for the organization.]
SCP-4186: [The masked people…one of them suddenly shot me in the chest. Then, they all…became bloody. Eyes were gone.]
Dr. ████: [Thank you for your information. We will be back to you soon.]
[END LOG]

Interviewer's note: [Through investigation, it turned out the "masked people" mentioned by SCP-4186 was a group of self-armed terrorists on its way to the City Hall. Despite its naive and easily anxious personality, this is indeed terrifying power.]

Addendum 4186.02: On ██/██/██, SCP-4186 suddenly ceased movements and went into a state similar to hibernation. After the 1 month-hibernation phase, SCP-4186 seems to gain some control toward its vision destructive ability. Additional training and researches are requested. If this idea is successful, SCP-4186 can be moved to Thaumiel class.

Addendum 4186.03. Incident 1: During one of the training sessions, one of the class D personnel accidentally shot SCP-4186 in the right shoulder. This put SCP-4186 into a manic phase, resulting in all personnel at the training site killed at the scene. MTF-Alpha 9 was dispatched to the site to control the situation. Although the specimen was finally sedated and brought back to containment cell, Agent █████ was permanently blinded. No other personnel injured or killed. From ECG records, among all the negative emotion phase, the panic phase yields out the strongest destructive signals, going up to 15 meters in radius.
After the incident, SCP-4186 is regularly sedated when it is idle. Calming music is played more frequently in its cell.
