Item #: SCP-4262

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4262 is contained by isolating the willow tree it inhabits within a 10-meter electrified perimeter near Osnabrück, Germany, preventing public access. Interaction with the crows is strictly prohibited to avoid activation of their anomalous effects.

Description: SCP-4262 refers to a group of seven crows (Corvus corone) that reside exclusively on a specific willow tree in Osnabrück, Germany. Each crow can be identified by two distinct white feathers on its wings. SCP-4262 displays normal avian behavior until an individual deliberately feeds them.

When SCP-4262 is fed, within 24 hours, the crows will deliver an object to the individual. This object will ultimately cause the death of the feeder through a series of seemingly coincidental or unavoidable circumstances. The items brought by SCP-4262 appear mundane but become instrumental in the subject’s death. SCP-4262 demonstrates an uncanny intelligence in selecting these objects, suggesting a form of precognition or deterministic knowledge.

If any crow in SCP-4262 is killed, it does not disappear or relocate. Instead, the entity’s body shows signs of rapid decomposition, and within 24 hours, a new crow manifests on the willow tree to replace the deceased. Analysis of the corpses has revealed that the crows are partially organic and partially composed of a wood-like substance. Their bones and feathers contain fibers resembling willow wood, while their flesh remains organic. This composition suggests a symbiotic or direct connection to the willow tree itself.

Addendum:

Addendum 4262-1:
Autopsy of SCP-4262 Instance
During an incident in 2004, one crow was euthanized for dissection. Analysis revealed the following:
• The skeletal structure was predominantly wooden, composed of dense cellulose fibers identical to those found in willow trees.
• Muscle and organ tissue were organic but lacked typical avian cellular structures.
• Feathers showed a mix of keratin and lignin, with the white feathers being entirely composed of a smooth, bark-like material.
• The stomach contents included standard bird food, suggesting SCP-4262 consumes normal food for sustenance despite its unusual physiology.

Further studies indicate that the crows are inherently tied to the willow tree. Researchers theorize that the tree is the source of SCP-4262’s regeneration, with the crows functioning as extensions of the tree’s anomalous properties.

Addendum 4262-2:
Historical Records
Local legends in Osnabrück reference a “Cursed Willow” where travelers would often hear whispers warning them to avoid feeding the “Ungrateful Birds.” A 17th-century tale describes a miller who gave bread to a flock of strange crows and later found himself crushed under a fallen millstone. This suggests SCP-4262’s anomalous nature has persisted for centuries.
