Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-448 is currently being contained at Site-06, a sister site of Site-02. Site-06 is located in the Canadian Wilderness. SCP-448 is to be contained in a specially designed cell measuring 10 meters by 10 meters by 3 meters, with walls made of light-absorbing materials to prevent shadows. The cell should be maintained at a light level of 0.5 lux to pacify SCP-448. In front of the door, there are three high-intensity Aerobeacons producing 25,000 lux, positioned on each side and above the door. Bortle level detectors are installed to trigger the Aerobeacons if a Bortle level of 1 is detected. Bortle Level detectors are used in detecting brightness. The door is a hermetic titanium-steel alloy door to prevent escape. Only Level 4 personnel or higher are permitted access, and all personnel must undergo psychological evaluation. Continuous monitoring is mandatory, and any unusual activity must be reported immediately. In the event of a containment breach, the facility must go on lockdown, with all lights at maximum output and extra generators activated. Mobile Task Force units equipped with light-absorbing gear and high-intensity flashlights are to be deployed to recontain SCP-448.

Description:

SCP-448, also known as “The Shadow Reaper,” is a nonhumanoid shadow with no discernible form. It is a pure shadow that can harm individuals through their own shadows. SCP-448's eyes can be made out because there are oval holes for SCP-448's eyes. are not made of shadow and are in fact, light. for some reason SCP-448 does not blink. SCP-448 can speak but hardly ever does, when it has, the voice is reported to be male, coarse, and generally not kind. SCP-448 has shown a numerous number of abilities including:

• Shadow Manipulation: SCP-448 can interact with and manipulate the shadows of living beings to cause physical harm. It has been observed to choke individuals by attacking their shadow’s neck, lifting them into the air and strangling them with an invisible force. SCP-448 can also steal the shadow weapons, such as knives, to inflict fatal injuries. For instance, it has used a shadow knife to stab a D-class personnel’s shadow in the heart, resulting in a corresponding fatal wound on the person.

• Light Manipulation: the area around SCP-448 has proven to be a permanent Bortle level of 1 around it. If the area around it is higher than that, it will slowly cause the area to darken until the area is around Bortle level 1

• Energy Manipulation: SCP-448 has the ability to stop electrical currents, mainly when these currents involve powering a light source, SCP-448 has caused lights to burn out, light switches to malfunction, electrical currents to stop, etc. it has been noted SCP-448 cannot manipulate electricity if it's running above 5 Kilovolts.

• Flight: SCP-448 can appear in a 3D form in areas with 0.1 lux or less. in this form SCP-448 has the ability to fly, it has never been tested how fast SCP-448 can fly.

• Shadow Morphing: SCP-448 can make itself look like the shadow of any creature or anomaly and gain some of that creature's attributes. for example, it transformed into the shadow of elephant gaining a large amount of size and strength.

• Phasing: it has been noted that in SCP-448 3D form, it has the ability to phase itself out of any material

• Shadow Displacement: in its 3D form SCP-448 can literally tear out a person shadow from their living body causing the person to fall into a comatose state until their shadow is returned, it is unknown what happens to their shadow.

• Shadow Control: once a person has lost their shadow, SCP-448 can impersonate their shadow and control them, the person awakens from comatose, only to have control of their voice and brain, while SCP-448 has control of their body.

Addendum:

It has been noted that SCP-488 cannot stand lux levels above 15,000 and can't exist in levels above 20,000 of course this is not a permanent solution. If confined to an area, SCP-448 will instantly cease to exist, disappearing at a rate of one inch per hour until it reaches a location where it can manifest again. In this state SCP-448 is considered neutralized.

Incident Report Log 3: Shadow Manipulation

Description : During a test, D-8132, a 25-year-old male African American, was placed in SCP-448's cell to observe its reaction. SCP-448 initially appeared intrigued but soon became hostile when D-8132 asked, "What are you?" SCP-448 reacted violently, manipulating D-8132's shadow to choke him by attacking the shadow’s neck, lifting him into the air, and strangling him with an invisible force. D-8132 was lifted off the ground and began having trouble breathing, soon calling for help with the remaining air in his lungs as bruises formed on his neck. The Aerobeacons were activated, causing SCP-448 to vanish, and D-8132 was able to breathe again. Psychological evaluation and medical treatment were administered. The incident was reported to the Site Director.

Incident Report Log 14: Shadow Manipulation Occurrence 6

Location: SCP-448 Containment Cell
Description: SCP-448 used a shadow of a knife to stab Lead Researcher Evan Lemmel's shadow in the heart, resulting in a corresponding fatal wound on Lemmel. The incident occurred during a scheduled interview attempt. The containment cell was immediately locked down, and the incident was reported to the Site Director. Lead Researcher Lemmel was pronounced dead on the scene.

Incident Report Log 17: Shadow Displacement

Location: Outside of SCP-448 Containment Cell
Description: SCP-448 tore out Security Guard Peter Rober's shadow from his living body, causing Rober to fall into a comatose state. Rober was passing by the cell when SCP-448 suddenly phased through the door in a 3-dimensional state, startling Rober. SCP-448 then proceeded to rip out Rober's shadow. Rober's shadow was observed to be under distress as SCP-448 dragged it off. It is still unclear how SCP-448 managed to access its 3D form, but once it did, it caused a containment breach, and Rober was just the first victim. The incident was reported after the breach, and the containment cell was resecured. The investigation into how SCP-448 escaped is ongoing. Medical personnel were unable to revive Rober, who remains under observation in the medical bay.

Incident Report Log 18: Elephant Shadow Transformation

Location: Site-06 right corridor.
Description: During a Containment Breach, SCP-448 transformed into the shadow of an elephant, significantly increasing in size and strength. The transformation resulted in extensive damage to the wing, including the destruction of monitoring equipment, damage to other cell and cell doors, and structural damage to the walls. The Mobile high-intensity Aerobeacons were activated, and Mobile Task Force Unit Epsilon-9 "Shadow Hunters" were deployed to recontain SCP-448. The incident was reported to the Site Director, and repairs to the containment cells were initiated. multiple personnel were injured and killed during the incident. Containment protocols were reviewed and updated to prevent future occurrences.
