Item #: SCP-4569
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-4569 is to be monitored continuously via surveillance systems installed at gas stations in known hotspots, particularly in Bangor, Maine. Personnel assigned to SCP-4569 must undergo psychological evaluations and specialized training in managing analog horror entities. Any reports of SCP-4569 activity are to be immediately relayed to Site-██ for further investigation.
During the ten-year cycles of increased SCP-4569 activity, Mobile Task Force (MTF) Σ-23 ("Night Watchers") is to be deployed to affected areas to ensure civilian safety and apprehend instances of SCP-4569 if encountered. Civilian advisories regarding the dangers of traveling alone at night during these periods must be disseminated widely.
Description:
SCP-4569, collectively referred to as the Night Stalkers, comprises a group of humanoid entities that embody a disturbing blend of the mundane and the supernatural. They are primarily encountered during nighttime shifts at gas stations, where they lure unsuspecting victims. SCP-4569 exhibits several distinct forms and behaviors:
General Appearance: Members of SCP-4569 display grotesque, inhuman characteristics. Skin tones vary from tan to dark to pale white, and their faces are stark and devoid of emotion, featuring wide, unsettling eyes that emit a faint glow in low light. Hair is long, curly, and wild, cascading past their shoulders. Nails extend approximately 15 centimeters (six inches), sharp and unbreakable.
Taller Night Stalkers: These entities measure around 2.4 meters (7'9") in height. Their faces are stark white, and they possess unnaturally wide smiles that bleed from the corners. Their metallic nails reflect light menacingly. While moving, their eyes appear to melt; however, this does not impede their speed, allowing them to reach velocities of up to 150 kilometers per hour (93 mph) while emitting a distinctive, unsettling screech.
Felix (Rare Species): SCP-4569-1, known as Felix, resembles a large, shadowy entity akin to a Dementor. Unlike other members of SCP-4569, Felix exhibits protective behaviors, acting as a guardian against the more hostile entities. Felix is larger and stronger than many of his counterparts and possesses the ability to ward off attacks from other Night Stalkers.
The Black Figures: These entities are blind and function as illusions created by the long-haired Night Stalkers. They manifest exclusively within the dream realm, drawing victims into psychological traps. Although they lack a physical form, their capacity for mental manipulation renders them particularly dangerous.
The Crawlers: SCP-4569-2 entities display horrific, deformed characteristics, moving in contorted and unnatural manners. Their skin appears to melt, resembling rubber. These entities typically inhabit tight spaces and approach victims with unnerving speed. They can project hallucinatory visions, such as Dementors or an old woman in a hospital gown, that lead victims into peril.
The Puppeteer (Master): The true leader of SCP-4569 remains unidentified and is referred to as the Puppeteer. This entity exercises control over the other Night Stalkers, particularly the long-haired variants. Reports indicate that the Puppeteer can manipulate electrical currents, causing lights to flicker and inducing hallucinations that force victims to confront their worst fears.
Addendum 4569-A:
Every ten years, an unusual phenomenon occurs in Bangor, where the sun appears to rise but sets almost immediately. This event marks a period of heightened SCP-4569 activity, during which SCP-4569-3, known as Demotes, emerge. These creatures drain the life force from their victims, leaving them in a state of prolonged isolation.
Addendum 4569-B:
Light sources are critical during encounters with SCP-4569. Street lamps and other illuminated areas serve as safe zones; however, victims stepping outside these light zones trigger relentless pursuits by the Night Stalkers, with Demotes acting as the final, insidious threat. Continued research into SCP-4569 is ongoing, and personnel must adhere to strict safety protocols during any engagements.
