Containment Procedure 121: Nightlight
SCP-5078, due to its nature cannot be contained but is to be hunted and monitored by Squads: Alpha 548, Beta 349, and Charlie 808. Once a SCP-5078 instance has manifested squad Alpha 548 and Beta 349 are to monitor the area that SCP-5078 has manifested in. While Charlie 808 is composed of randomly selected civilians who are not to be made aware of the procedure, and to enter the area, Charlie 808 for all intents and purposes are bait for SCP-5017 instances.
Squad Alpha and Beta are to keep any form of media of SCP-5078 contained. Alpha and Beta will engage SCP-5078 before the fifth night of the manistifation or loss of civilian life will occur. Charlie 808 is to be given Class F Amnestics and are to be given a new life. Any personnel that are captured by SCP-5078 are to be considered M.I.A and no rescue is to be attempted, ignoring this rule can result in termination. Squad Charlie 808 is to contain at least one adult male, one adult female, and two children regardless of gender. D-Class cannot be used as SCP-5078 has shown awareness of the foundation and is known to ignore any family with current or former Foundation personnel regardless of security class. AT ANY POINT Squad Charlie 808 BE LEFT IN TOTAL DARKNESS OR LOSS OF ALL PERSONNEL WILL OCCUR Hence the name: "Night Light"
Description: SCP-5078 are, as a species ambush predators. Most range from 5-8 feet tall, and can be either male or female, even though the female instance is far more rare. They are highly intelligent and sapient, they are very sadistic and will often play with their prey. SCP-5078 instances have been shown to engage in ambush tactics and mimicry. Through unknown means it appears that any personnel the instance kills, it can mimic their voice to perfection.
SCP-5078 does not produce waste, and does not have a method of reproduction, but does seem to feed. SCP-5078 manifests within a fifty meter range of young children, preferably ages 3-9. The instance then enters a eight day cycle with the family it has attached itself to, It only marks children that have gone through a great deal of trauma in their life, but very rarely will mark and attach itself to an adult. When the SCP manifestes on the first day nothing will happen, on the second day the target will report seeing SCP-5017 in there nightmares, by the third day the nightmares get far more intense and the target will see SCP-5078 in the corner of their vision, such as in mirrors, or just in the corner of the room. On the fourth day SCP-5078 will manifest in the targets house, it only appears for minutes at a time but usually uses this day to taunt and play with it's target. It usually manifests in closets or under beds, at this point it cannot be viewed by other family members. At day five SCP-5078 enters it's 'active' phase where it enters the home and begins hunting the target, and their family. At this point one of three things can happen, there is a 70% chance that SCP-5078 will hunt down it's targets family saving it's target for last. There is a 10% that for the rest of the subjects life SCP-5078 will haunt them but not attack. And there is a 20% chance that on the fifth day just the target vanishes along with the scp.
SCP-5078 manifestations have been known to stay in the house after killing its prey and in some cases, in urban areas, even move on to other households nearby regardless of the targets mental health or age. SCP-5078 vanishes after it has killed all nearby prey, or the house it has marked has not been habbited for at least three years. SCP-5078 cannot be damaged by normal ammunitions but is weak to normal light, but UAV light will kill it. SCP-5078 has shown the ability to turn off electronics within a ten meter radius. If the SCP-5017 instance is submerged in full darkness growing up to [REDACTED] the SCP will [REDACTED] [REDACTED]

Subject: One Charlie 808 Squad
Procedure: Charlie 808 is to be moved back into a house inhabited by SCP-5078. the house is filled with cameras and Charlie 808 is equipped with audio devices and hidden cameras.
Details: At this point it is day one of the experiment, SCP-5078 has just manifested in the home:
Day:01:
Charlie 808 is here called by A,B,C,D.
C: "Daddy! Daddy!"
A: "What is it?"
C: "Did you meet the person in my closet?! Their super nice and wants to meet everyone!"
A: "*Chuckles, you sure about that buddy? Tell me more about them"
C: "Well, they had ketchup all over his face! So… that's cool! Daddy, have you seen Whiskers?"
A: "(Long Pause) Where did you say your 'friend' was?"
C: "In my room silly!"
A and C head up to C's bedroom, A has a nervous glance on his face
A: "Ok, I don't see it buddy."
C: "Daddy over there!"
On C's camera SCP-5078 is shown sitting on the bed
A: "Ok, where? I don't see it!"
C: "He's on my bed! Right there"
On C's camera SCP-5078 is shown charging at C and lifting him up, on A's camera it appears C is randomly thrown into the air.
C: "(Screaming) Daddy! it's got me! Daddy please!"
A: "Oh my god…"
A is shown running up to C and grabbing his leg, at this point SCP-5078 vanishes.
Day:03
Day 02 was skipped because nothing remarkable happened, this occurs during the night.
A: "Babe I think he is finally asleep"
B: "Do you think?"
C is at this point asleep but his heart rate is shown as rapidly rising and he begins sweating.
A: "Yeah I'm sure of it"
C is shown at this point as waking up and SCP-5078 is shown at the foot of his bead watching him, before going back into the closet, just before SCP-5078 shuts the door it is shown as using it's finger in a shushing movement. C's heart rate monitor is shown that his heart rate has nearly doubled.
B: "You know, I'm getting worried about him… What do you think all this means?"
A: "I-(Pause) I don't know, he just flew into the air right in front of me! Maybe its a ghost or maybe I… was just seeing things but… I just don't know"
Day:04
This is the day in which D comes back from spring break to re-join their family
D: "███, ███, ███! I'm home!"
A: "Welcome home!"
B: "███!"
C at this point is sitting in his room, SCP-5078 is manifested behind him and stroking his hair, It is at this point known that this manifestation is female in a direct likeness to ██████ D begins heading upstairs along with A and B, At this point SCP-5078 vanishes.
D: "Hey little bro!"
C doesn't reply and is hesitant to get up and hug D
B: "Remember that on Monday we are going to see a special doctor about your 'friend'."
It is of note that this in fact is not a security breach due that during the experiment it is Thursday
D: "He's really taking this thing hard isn't he?"
D: "So who's your friend? Is he funny, or cute?"
C: "She"
It is noted that C is starting to show signs of anxiety and depression due to his in counter with SCP-5078
A: "I know! Why don't we go get some lunch!"
B: "That's a great idea! Come on, we will get your favorite!"
C: "She doesn't want us to leave…"
At this point the whole family goes silent, on C's camera SCP-5078 is shown standing directly behind D and holding up one of it's clawed-fingers to D's throat.
A: "Alright then buddy, we won't if it bothers you that much."
A: "███, ███ care to join me in the kitchen?"
A, B, and C all leave the room and C is shown as laying on his bed and crying.
A: "Ok, so what should we do?"
B: "I don't know! I've heard of this thing with kids before, I'm sure it will pass."
D: "I don't know ███ seemed serious."
A: "Well if this all in his imagination, what lifted him into the air?"
Day:05

Charlie 808 has been relocated and moved across the continent. B did not survive the encounter and D has been taken into Foundation custody after several injuries to her person including [REDACTED] severe damage to reproductive systems, [REDACTED] [REDACTED]
Experiment Log:02
In this experiment Foundation personnel attempted to test the strengths and weakness of SCP-5078
and to attempt to see if containment was somehow possible.
Test:01
SCP-5078 was hit with a direct beam of a flashlight with a power of 3000 lux, SCP-5078 seemed to take a little damage from this but it did seem to hurt the instance, it made it's skin darker almost like a sunburn and it ran away from the light.
Test:02
SCP-5078 cannot conceal itself when in a box lined with at least 3in thick layer of lead, 2in of iron, and 1in of steel. SCP-5078 after staying in this box will eventually die for unknown reasons just falling to the ground and breaking apart and dissipating.
