Special Containment Procedures: Containment of SCP-5118 is physically impossible. All information regarding the biological lifeform SCP-5118-A is to be suppressed and kept out of the hands of all other civilian and government agencies with the exception of NASA, who the foundation was worked close with when monitoring SCP-5118. Any expeditions to SCP-5118 not sanctioned by the O5 Council are to be deterred. Any foundation agents or members of MTF groups Beta-7 and Zeta-9 returning from expeditions to SCP-5118 who are suspected of infection or are infected with SCP-5118-A are to be neutralised accordingly. Observation of SCP-5118 is to be conducted using the ORION Space Telescope or with the Umbral-5 satellite array. Any objects contaminated with SCP-5118-A is to be incinerated or disposed of appropriately by Beta-7.

Description: SCP-5118 is an earth-like exoplanet located approximately 7 light years away from the Solar System. SCP-5118 has a diameter of 10,716 kilometres and a mean surface temperature of 15 degrees celsius, SCP-5118 also has a breathable atmosphere that is composed primarily of oxygen and nitrogen, the height of the atmosphere is 9.1 kilometres. Geographical features of SCP-5118 include barren, rust-coloured deserts coupled with minimal vegetation, many mesas can be found and the planet itself has a large, singular ocean combined with many small but scattered bodies of water, all of which have a dark blue hue. Strangely enough, SCP-5118's only natural resource is freshwater, there are no ores, fossil fuels or oil that have been found on the planet.

The largest concern for containment of SCP-5118 by the foundation and it's primary anomalous property is that every single bit of matter on the planet, water, earth, plants, with the exception of gasses that compose the atmosphere contains or has SCP-5118-A on its surface.

SCP-5118-A is a type of virus that if infected with, will result in the physical mangling of infected subject. followed by death within ██ minutes to 2 days. SCP-5118-A is extremely infectious, being capable of transmission by touch, body fluids, sneezing or coughing and via intercourse. Symptoms of SCP-5118-A include paranoia, delusion, red watery eyes and rashes. SCP-5118-A distorts physical features of infected humans, causing hair to molt into the skin, twisting of bone and muscle, eyes being popped far out of their sockets and loss of intelligence. Because of the major containment risk posed by SCP-5118-A, all expeditions must be done with proper CBRN equipment.

SCP-5118-A may be the most likely cause for the abundance of sapient life on SCP-5118, a barren planet where every bit of matter harbours a deadly virus.
