Special Containment Procedures:
Due to the immense area SCP-5171 covers and it’s increasing size, proper containment is implausible. The Foundation has recieved permission to establish an exclusion zone around SCP-5171 by the United States Government.

Population of [DATA EXPUNGED] during Anomalous Period

Description:
SCP-5171 is a deserted urban collection approximately 90 kilometres northeast of Topeka, Kansas. SCP-5171 was once named [DATA EXPUNGED] and was the ninth most populous city within the US state of Kansas at 10█,000 citizens. On February 3rd 1995, [DATA EXPUNGED] gained it’s current anomalous properties. The Foundation was alerted of [DATA EXPUNGED]’s properties on February 11th 1995 and was contained and designated within the following 24 hours.

SCP-5171 is capable of consuming any matter it can reach except terrain. When this process occurs on an instance of any mammal, it will devour the entire body within 72 hours in this fashion:

• 1 Second: The Host will begin its consummation at the point(s) of contact.
• 1 Hour: Asphalt begins seeping into every open orifice causing immense pain for the Host.
• 9 Hours: Asphalt within the body severs essential arteries such as the femoral artery.
• 13 Hours: Host becomes totally immobile. Central Nervous System fails.
• 23 Hours: All Fluids are expelled. Host dies. Consummation accelerates.
• 51 Hours: Body is entirely encapsulated in asphalt and begins to spread within the body.
• 76 Hours: All Bone, Muscle, Flesh and Organs are replaced with Asphalt. Consummation is complete

However this will obviously vary due to the alternate anatomies of different organisms.
SCP-5171 has also displayed the ability to expand. This behaviour was first recorded on January 13th 2003. The source of new asphalt is currently unknown.

• 7 Minutes: Leaves are entirely encapsulated with asphalt
• 1 Hour: Subject starves to death.

• 25 Minutes: Entity is proven unresponsive.
• 31 Minutes: Entity is fully converted into asphalt.

Autopsy 5171.1:
An instance of an immobilised citizen of SCP-5171 was brought to the SCP Autopsy Laboratory on the 12th September 2014. Citizens were discovered to be the exact end result of Test-Mammalia.
