SCP-552 attacking a human cell.
Item #: SCP-552
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-552 must be kept in Site-179's high item storage facility in a refrigerated storage that is -10C. For no reason should this be opened, unless testing was authorized by Site Director+. Ethics Committee must be required to attend the test, and so are Mobile Task Force Unit NU-7 Hammerdown. In case of breach, all surfaces infected by SCP-552 are to be incinerated.
All infected organisms must be incinerated. Evacuation procedures must follow, and anyone not in the breach shelter during an SCP-552 breach must be terminated without hesitation.
Description: SCP-552 is an evolved bacteriophage that is able to kill human cells, and as well bacteria. When inserted into a victim, SCP-552 will cling onto a cell. SCP-522 will then inject it's genetic material into the cell. The cell will then be taken over. In results, the cell is forced to build new SCP-552 instances and terminate immune system cells. After these stages, SCP-552 will begin to kill macrophages, and monocytes. These cells are the guards of the human body. During the attacks to macrophages and monocytes, these cells will tell neutrophils to begin releasing fluids. This causes massive internal bleeding, and neutrophils, which are weak to viruses, begin to fight the bacteriophages but all this does is create more infected cells.
Bacteriophages will then make it's way into the liver, killing a mass amount of liver cells. Organ failure begins to start in this point. During this stage, the victim's body will activate a cytokine storm. This is an SOS signal by the immune system which makes all of it's weapons desperately try to take out the virus at the same time. This usually kills most of the virus, but leaves collateral damage to blood vessels. Blood will now spill out through every hole of the body, causing lack of blood to survive. At this point, chances of surviving is very low. SCP-500 has been attempted, and is able to cure the virus. However, these bacteriophages can evolve again to be immune to SCP-500.
SCP-552 has been marked as the most dangerous virus held in the foundation.
