SCP-5901 (can I use this picture?)
Special Containment Procedures: An area of 1609.34 meters is to be quarantined in Medicine Bow National Park, WY. This area must be changed every twenty two days, and the park must be surveyed every twenty one days to locate a new instance of SCP-5901. Due to its size, the park as a whole cannot be properly contained, and the quarantine is the Foundation's current solution to prevent loss of life.
Staff assigned to be SCP-5901 are to be vetted based on their resistance to cognitohazards, and their knowledge of ecology and environmental science. The quarantine is to be maintained by staff under the guise of an ecological survey on the park. Civilians are to be gently turned away from the SCP-5901 site.
Staff are to be transferred every four days to both prevent and replace employee casualties. Staff must undergo daily observation and mental evaluations during deployment, including five days before and after being stationed at Site-5901. Staff are forbidden from entering SCP-5901. In the event that any member of the staff enters SCP-5901, at least one member of a group MUST keep their eyes on SCP-5901 at all times within SCP-5901-1.
Description: SCP-5901 is a white door measuring approximately 3.048 meters in height, 0.914 meters in diameter, located in the Wyoming region of the Medicine Bow National Forest. SCP-5901 emits a cognitohazard effect, which compels nearby humans to attempt to explore and investigate SCP-5901. When a subject walks though SCP-5901, they will enter an alternate version of the forest, designated SCP-5901-1, the end of which has not yet been observed.1 SCP-5901-1 maintains a constant temperature range of 17.6°C to 24.1°C, regardless of season, as well as appearing to remain the same time regardless of the time entered, or how long subjects remain. The sun inside SCP-5901-1 does not appear to move, and will always appear close to twilight.
Humans can leave SCP-5901-1 by passing back through SCP-5901 the way they came in. The exception to this occurs if a human, or any members of a group, lose sight of SCP-5901. When this occurs, SCP-5901 cannot be relocated, even if the individual or any members of a group return to the exact point of entry.2
SCP-5901 changes position randomly every twenty-two days, meaning the park must be monitored a minimum of every three weeks, to prevent civilians from encountering on SCP-5901. The location SCP-5901 manifests appears to be random, and attempts to predict its next location are ongoing. The location when entering SCP-5901-1 changes when SCP-5901 moves, but it is not understood how the entrance correlates from both sides.
The cognitohazard that compels humans to enter seems to have a range of 12.19 meters. This effect can be resisted, but continued exposure to SCP-5901 results in the exposed forcibly attempting to enter SCP-5901, even resorting to violence, after an average of six days of exposure. Staff stationed at Site-5901 are to be monitored and evaluated daily to ensure they are not compelled to enter SCP-5901. As of now, [DATA EXPUNGED] staff members have "snapped" and vanished inside SCP-5901-1.
While inside SCP-5901-1, humans have experienced other cognitohazard effects, listed below in Addendum 5901.1. These effects appear to increase in intensity the longer a subject spends in SCP-5901-1, and have been observed to fade in two to three days if a subject leaves SCP-5901-1.
| Addendum 5901.1: SCP-5901-1 Cognitohazard effects | Specific examples | |
| Nausea | Subjects report an immediate feeling of dizziness and exhaustion upon entering SCP-5901-1. | |
| Paranoia | Subjects that spent 5 minutes in SCP-5901-1 reported believing they were being watched. | |
| Migraines | After approximately twenty five minutes inside SCP-5901-1, subjects reported developing a "pounding headache" that makes it hard to focus or walk | |
| Memory loss | If a subject spends closer to an hour inside SCP-5901-1, they appear to forget details of their life, including their name, job, relationship status, and gender | |
| Hallucinations | The most commonly reported effect of exploring SCP-5901-1. Subjects report multiple hallucinations after ninety minutes within SCP-5901-1, including: 1.) Friends of [REDACTED] appeared, begging the subject to follow them to the "Unblessed" to be purified. 2.) Antlers sprouting from subjects body, causing physical discomfort but not pain. 3.) SCP-5901-2 appearing and giving chase before vanishing. It is unknown if this was a hallucination or a sighting of SCP-5901-2 toying with prey. | |
| Increased libido at unusual stimuli | The least common effect of SCP-5901-1 exposure, includes sexual attraction to oak trees, desire to [REDACTED] with a fistful of grass, self stimulation after self burial, and attempts to sexually assault other members if in a group, regardless of attraction or orientation. | |

An SCP-5901-2 entity (Can I use this picture?)
The forest inside SCP-5901, SCP-5901-1, was previously thought to be devoid of animal life, but what is believed to be a unique species was encountered on ██/██/2020 during Expedition 5901.2, designated SCP-5901-2. These entities are approximately 2.45 meters in height, humanoid in shape, with what appears to be an empty deer skull in place of a head. SCP-5901-2 are reported to wear white cloaks that appear to be made of silk, and it is unknown what SCP-5901-2 looks like under this cloak. SCP-5901-2 appear to possess human hands and feet.
SCP-5901-2 are to be considered hostile, as they will stalk, attack, torture, and consume humans they capture inside SCP-5901-1, for perceived religious and ritualistic purposes. Humans captured by SCP-5901-2 will, over a series of days, have their limbs severed one at a time, and consumed by SCP-5901-2 entities. In some cases, victims have been forcibly fed their own flesh before death3. SCP-5901-2 are reported to be capable of teleportation inside SCP-5901-1, and to use this ability to toy with their prey while stalking them.
It is unknown if SCP-5901-2 emit the cognitohazard found in SCP-5901-1 or if SCP-5901-1 is the source of this cognitohazard. Research is ongoing, but the two appear to positively correlate. Exposure to SCP-5901-2 has also increased the effects of the SCP-5901-1 cognitohazard, and investigations to determine the exact source of the anomaly are ongoing.
Human parts not consumed have been turned into effigies and hung from trees in SCP-5901-1. A list of confiscated effigies is included in Addendum 5901.2 below.
| Addendum 5901.2: SCP-5901-2 recovered effigies |
A human right hand with the fingers removed, with five human tongues sewn in their place.
Addendum 5901.3: Discovery
SCP-5901 was brought to foundation attention through police documents, who reported a team of ten officers had entered a door in the Medicine Bow National Forest and never returned. Foundation staff recovered two survivors who came back through SCP-5901, and claim to have called the police after four of their friends went missing in SCP-5901-1.
The two survivors, Gregory ████ and Marcus ████, explained they had been on a road trip with a group of six students for spring break, five men and one woman. For clarification, the friends names will be listed by their first letter, instead of being redacted every time.
Marcus, Gregory, A, L, N, O, and L.
Foundation began containment by administering amnesics to the police and the two students, and opened site-5901 with a quarantine of the surrounding area. Testing and observations of SCP-5901 began immediately.
| Addendum 5901.4: Initial experiments and observations |
Researcher █████ sent to explore a similar path that Mark took when exploring SCP-5901 and come right back. Researcher █████, although carrying recording equipment and a tracker, was not seen again, and attempts to locate her have failed. Further testing reveals that continued sight on SCP-5901 is required inside SCP-5901-1, as SCP-5901 will vanish and not return if an individual or all members of a group lose sight.
Addendum 5901.5: Exploration log 5901
Addendum 5901.6: A second effect of this cognitohazard prevents SCP-5901 from harm, as attempts to destroy it have all failed. A record of destruction attempts can be found below.
Addendum 5901.7: Shortly after the Exploration team 5901 was lost, SCP-5901 has been creating humanoids, designated SCP-5901-3, and resemble a healthy variation of subjects who vanished in SCP-5901-1, although they do not possess memories from before or after their disappearance. At first mistaken for a missing volunteers from Exploration Team 5901, the entity attempted to lure researchers into SCP-5901, rushing back in before the foundation could contain them. SCP-5901-3 entities are not inherently violent, but will attempt to persuade nearby humans to walk through SCP-5901, ranging from begging to demanding through force. Instances of SCP-5901-3 are to be terminated, and are believed by Dr.███████ to be an adaptation to the foundation preventing entry, raising the concern that SCP-5901 may be sentient in some way. Investigations into this problem are ongoing.
Addendum 5901.8: An instance of SCP-5901 was discovered in Yellowstone National Park on 02/██/2020. Containment plans are in development and should be implemented by [REDACTED]/2020. The plan to retrieve the camera have been postponed until these containment procedures are in place. SCP-5901 status upgraded to Keter.
