Description: SCP-5XXX is a knife, with the words "Love: Lily" painted on its handle. Anytime SCP-5XXX is held by a sapient subject, SCP-5XXX will cause a mind-altering effect on the subject that causes them to see SCP-5XXX-1 instances.
SCP-5XXX-1 instances, according to affected subjects, are different varieties of fishes that swim in the air and are able to move through physical objects. SCP-5XXX-1 instances possess an association effect: subjects holding SCP-5XXX will associate all SCP-5XXX-1 instance they see with a specific memory, the size usually proportionate to the clarity of the memory.
SCP-5XXX-1 can only be terminated through the use of SCP-5XXX. Once terminated, SCP-5XXX-1 instances are observed to bleed a grey substance as they drift towards the ground, before dissipating into grey smoke. Once a SCP-5XXX-1 instance is terminated, the thoughts associated with the SCP-5XXX-1 instance will disappear. No attempt at recovering these thoughts have been successful.
Discovery: SCP-5XXX was discovered in the collection by the police while investigating the apartment of Rose Meichu, a 23-year-old woman who had recently disappeared. Rose Meichu had a long history of mental challenges related to traumatic memory. SCP-5XXX was found in a suitcase, where its anomalous properties were discovered when held by a detective.
Investigations of SCP-5XXX's laptop uncovered a series of emails documenting interaction between Rose Meichu and POI-5869-23. Included below is the transcript of an email relevant to SCP-5XXX.
