Item #: SCP-6001
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-6001 is to be contained in a sound-proof bunker beneath Armed Reliquary and Containment Area ███, with a minimum of two (2) Security Officers, properly equipped with noise-cancelling headphones and standard equipment. The bunker is to be sound-proofed to noise-cancel a minimum of 99% outgoing sound.
An automatic arm is to be used to lift the needle from the vinyl record to end the song when testing is complete. Secondary Containment Procedure: Should the robotic arm fail or somehow break, a minimum of one (1) Security Officer is to go in with specialized noise-cancelling headphones (different from those standard issued to those guarding the bunker) to lift the needle from the record when testing is complete, and put the record back into its sleeve. Following incident I6001-B, a secondary and tertiary arm are to be in place, should the primary arm fail.
Description: SCP-6001 is a Gramophone dated to have been produced in the late 1890s, with no signs of regular wear and tear, along with an absence of any markings or distinctions as to whom the manufacturer is. Coupled with SCP-6001 is an unmarked vinyl record in an unmarked transparent orange sleeve, given the item # SCP-6001-1. SCP-6001-1, once placed onto SCP-6001, and the needle placed upon it, will begin to play the 2018 meme Despacito II on loop. The audio coming from SCP-6001 will start at 20 dB, and increase by 6 dB every 15 seconds until the arm is lifted from SCP-6001-1.
Test subjects who begin to hear the audio from SCP-6001 feel an uncontrollable urge to gouge out their eardrums with their own fingers. If the audio is left to continuously play until it reaches upwards of 150+ dB, internal bleeding, deafness, multiple organ failure, and death will occur. It is at this point that, if the subject has not yet died, the automatic arm is to be triggered to lift the needle from SCP-6001-1, and the subject is to be removed from the bunker for termination.
Addendum 6001-A: Containment Protocol updated. See Incident Report I6001-B.
Incident Report I6601-B:
██/██/████, Armed Reliquary and Containment Area ███, Containment Bunker ███Due to a malfunction of the automatic arm, Secondary Containment Procedures were activated. > One (1) Security Officer was utilized until the arm could be repaired and redeployed. During testing on D-7834, the record was left playing until the volume reached 266 dB. Upon noticing violent vibrations outside the cell, MTF Unit Mu-4 ("Debuggers") was deployed to move the needle off the record.
12:05:32 AM, Testing initiated.
12:06:23 AM, D-7834 begins to claw at his ear, screaming in agony. Barely heard over SCP-6001.
12:09:55 AM, SCP-6001 begins to reach 60 dB.
12:15:17 AM, SCP-6001 begins to reach 120 dB, hearing loss and nausea occur in both the officer and D-7834.
12:29:01 AM, SCP-6001 reaches 266 dB, D-7834 dies along with the officer. Violent vibrations start to form cracks in the containment chamber. Camera fails due to acoustic stress.
12:32:45 AM, MTF Mu-4 ("Debuggers") deployed to Bunker ███.
12:46:12 AM, Vibrations stop, 3 MTF Mu-4 agents deceased, needle is moved off SCP-6001-1 through unknown means. Bunker ███ shows severe structural damage, SCP-6001-1 removed from SCP-6001 and placed back in its sleeve.
After Action Report
SCP-6001 and SCP-6001-1 are packed up and shipped to Site ██ for re-containment. D-7834's body was disposed of along with the officer's after the incident. Bunker ███ is undergoing complete remodeling to repair the severe damage caused by SCP-6001. Another officer was added to the Security Department to compensate for the officer lost during Incident I6001-B.
