Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-5031-A substance perching on a branch from SCP-5031
SCP-5031 substances and the main body is to be closed off in a large research enclosure. The size of the enclosure is to be around 100m x 100m x 100m, this is to allow room for it to grow and be researched. 35 bird substances are to be allowed inside the enclosure if more than 35 are in there those birds or bird is to be terminated. Any substances spotted outside the enclosure are to be caught with a special stun net. After catching the substance it is allowed to be let loose into the enclosure.
Other animals are not allowed if another animal substance is spotted it is to be moved to another enclosure where it will be studied. Overgrowth of the substance ex, the main tree body, is to be trimmed with care in order not to harm it. SCP-5031-B instances designated "Birds of the Forest" are to be feed regularly with special nutrient-filled feed.
Containment protocols are to light on the enclosure if there is a tear or hole in the net. Repair needs as a glass pane would be put in its place. Wildlife staff is to research the bottom layers where the tree fully extends downward. Soil samples regularly change based on the weather by an unknown means. Other samples such as leaves, feathers, or wood are to be contained in a zip-lock bag or jar.
The tree is to be regularly watered via a sprinkler system on the catwalk above. Regular maintenance on the system and lower canopy, water system (ex. streams from the pond) are to be cleaned with anti-bacterial water drugs. Personnel are to use Bacteriostatic Water for cleaning, other antibacterial drugs are not allowed inside the pen
Description:
SCP-5031 was found on the outskirts of a forest in █████ ████, Argentina, in 1992. It was at first thought to be a common tree. However, upon closer inspection, it became apparent that SCP- 5031 was growing animals other than its regular functions. Most of the animals were identified by research crews and documented (See next paragraph).
SCP-5031 can grow anything out of its leaves/flowers. Objects begin growing almost instantaneously and reach maturity within a matter of 2-weeks. A limit of substance has been previously recorded. Objects that SCP-5031 has thus far produced include birds, cats, bats, wolves, leopards, snakes (See Addendum #1), lions, camels, dogs, fish (See Addendum #2), hyenas, bears, tigers, buffaloes (See Addendum #3), jaguars, javelinas, and cougars.
Human substances through SCP-5031 is as of yet unknown if possible, as they appear to not to form. The majority of these substances live, on average, nineteen (19) weeks. After a thorough examination of the live substances, it has been determined that they had begun altering their organs to survive in the environment.
Addendum 5031-01
SCP-5031-A Up close on a tree branch from SCP-5031
If a snake is present with-in the original environment, most of the snakes are deemed harmless instead of python instances. Most harmless snakes are allowed to roam the enclosure. Pythons are to be forcefully removed from the area and put into containment blocks at site-66. Most of these pythons are kept alive until they die at their normal expectancy for a substance.
If another species of the snake is formed they are to be taken out and put into research until returned or contained for further study on the substance. Other snake species that live in the trees have a function to adapt them to their new environment.
Future studies on the snakes are to be permitted and tested. Most snakes in the region co-op with the birds for food. Mice if present or any other small prey is to be feed to the snakes via a feeding claw.
Addendum 5031-02
In the case of fish growing. A small pond is to monitor for the tree and the fish. most of these substances are to be manually removed and put into the pond. Regular check-ups on their habitat zone are to commence, after a few days, the pond is to be tested for bacteria or another harmful organism's present within the water. A fish safe chemical is to be used to kill any other organism present within the pond.
Certain chemicals are to be used to keep the fish alive. Special food mixed with water is to be poured in for them. Rocks or other plant life is welcomed for the pond unless it's deemed an invasive species inside the habitat. Other animals are allowed to drink from the pond if they want to.
As of a few referendum's presents on the habitat, all fish are allowed to swim in the new rivers flowing from each end. These rivers are believed to be created by SCP-5031, no harm is allowed to these waterways as it might affect the way SCP-5031's ecosystem works. If the ecosystem is harmed for the fish they are to be moved into a special tank alongside the main enclosure.
Addendum 5031-03
SCP-5031-A during the first Research Expedition
In the case of a buffalo growing from 5031, they are to be removed when they are a calf. After removal, they are sent into a special research field and deemed protected. As of now no harm or change to the Research field has been done as they are believed to have an instinct to not mess up land even out of the 5031 containment enclosure.
Buffalo herds are common as they expanded the enclosure to include a prairie field seemingly not expanding the infinite amount of square miles within the pen. It is further researched that the tree can make any environment fora new substance without taking up room.
Currently, it is unknown how it makes fields and doesn't affect the outside of the enclosure or the regions within it. The prairie is believed to help grow more buffalo greatly bringing their numbers from 5 to 42 buffalo in a matter of 2 weeks.
During the weeks following the research team Delta-12 // The current team has been disbanded see Addendum 5031-04 for further details// has discovered further herds of buffalo up north of the current magnetic pole affecting the region. The current herds have been identified as non-anomalous creatures.
Enclosure Protocol
After the discovery of the smartness of 5031, the current research team expanded to research the prairie and how it functions. Normal weather has been documented in the prairie, as it goes on forevermore buffalo have been documented to around 207 as they found another tree suited for the prairie. It was deemed 5031-C, it cant be further explained as most of the tree is understood so far.
As of now no containment revision's have not yet been ratified. All living organism's inside the enclosure are friendly, most predatory animals, of course, were documented as hostile. Once out of the enclosure hostile animals are to be researched in another biological habitat wing.
In case of a brief containment breach from the enclosure, MTF unit Lambda-4 ("Birdwatchers") is to report to the sight. If most of the birds stay within the region they are to be captured. Or when birds stay inside the enclosure they are to be also captured and contained within a bird enclosure until the main enclosure is repaired.
Addendum 5031-04
After further inspection of the enclosure, the leading researcher Dr. █████ has determined that the current prairie research team will be disbanded until further notice. Documents of 5032 have been reviewed and stored at the office corridor ██-█. All files are to be reviewed over and sent back to the original documenting room.
Further research suggests that SCP-5032 will have the capability to make warp zones to other regions. All zones are to be immediately closed off and secured by foundation personnel. Any life forms that are born before the warp zone has formed are to be implanted with a Tracking Chip.
All protocols are to continue as normal. Any change in the enclosure is to be reported to the current researching doctor.
