Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object class: Safe

Special containment procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a 2m x 2m x 3m cell.
The cell is to have a regulator set at 0 degrees Celsius at all times to assure the safety of the entity.
If the regulator is sat higher than 0 degrees Celsius , it must be set back to the correct temperature as soon as discovered.
SCP-XXXX is to be provided a sugar water mixture. If the mixture freezes, it must be thawed and replaced 12 hours after discovery.
Failure to follow the containment procedures will cause death in the entity.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a 4cm long butterfly. The entity’s wings are a luminescent blue color and end in points.

SCP-XXXX spends most of it’s time flying in it’s cell and drinking it’s sugar water mixture.
If it is introduced to a living mammal, SCP-XXXX will fly towards the subject before landing on the head, back, or arm.
SCP-XXXX makes the subject chosen immune to the cold and provides a sense of calmness.

If provided with a non-living mammal, or non-mammalian animal (snake, bird, fish, etc.) SCP-XXXX’s anomalous properties will not be triggered.

Human subjects exposed to SCP-XXXX report, “still feeling a level of calmness” after breaking contact with the entity.
Subjects have been reported to be willing, and even happy, to regain contact with SCP-XXXX

SCP-XXX has shown to have a exceptionally longer life span than all known species of butterfly.
How long the entity can live is currently unknown.

SCP-XXX Has also shown to Be capable of remembering previous subjects.
If the entity is given a new subject and one it has previously been exposed to, SCP-XXXX will choose the previously exposed entity 80% of the time.

When exposed to Subjects suffering from Lepidopteraphobia, SCP-XXXX tends to avoid the subjects.
Subjects report becoming less fearful of the entity after leaving it’s cell.

Addendum: SCP-XXXX was taken into custody during [DATA EXPUNGED] when citizens of the nearby town reported seeing a butterfly “only when all the water froze.”
The woods SCP-XXXX was discovered in has not yielded other butterflies similar to the entity as of yet. Searches are still on-going.
