*The following is the transcript from a debrief from Doctor [redacted], a researcher investigating anomalies on behalf of the foundation, and the Director.*

Director: Hello Doctor, I am the Director.

Director: I understand you’ve recently had an encounter with an anomaly unlike anything we have ever seen before.

Doctor: Yes, if I had known you would be interviewing me I wouldn't have waited so long to talk about this.

Director: Waited? What do you mean?

Doctor: The encounter happened last week, I only sent in the report the other day because I had volunteered to help another research team identify something they found at the bottom of the mediterranean sea. I knew it would be transferred to this site so I figured I could catch a ride over considering I don’t even know where in the world I am right now.

Director: I see, so why don’t you start from the beginning and tell me what happened.

Doctor: Of course. It was April 14th, 1985, I was in the mountains of Italy just sitting under a tree, enjoying the view, and thinking about the world. All of a sudden, I saw a strange blue light out of the corner of my eye but when I turned around nothing was there but I had an uneasy feeling that I was no longer alone so I turned back around to collect my things and leave but that's when I saw it. A beautiful cat, the size of a man standing on all fours right behind me just watching me. The cat's fur was two different shades of grey but something was wrong it wasn’t like the grey you’re used to it…seemed wrong somehow if that makes any sense.

Director: This was the anomaly?

Doctor: Yes.

Director: In your report you referred to the anomaly as Schrödinger. Can you explain why?

Doctor: Of course, while I was examining the cat something happened that made me jump back in surprise. The cat spoke! It spoke with a man's voice and said “Hello Doctor. My name is Schrödinger, I'm an anomaly but not like any you have ever encountered before”.

Director: I understand why you were hesitant to talk to someone, in all my time with the facility I have never heard of another anomaly that named itself before.

Doctor: Trust me, it gets a lot stranger from there.

Director: Continue your story please.

Doctor: Schrödinger seemed to know I was questioning if what I just heard was real so he spoke again. “ Don’t be alarmed, I just want to talk to you for a while”. After the initial shock, I asked Schrödinger why he wanted to talk to me and why he called himself Schrödinger. Very calmly and without hesitation, Schrödinger responded. “ I wish to tell you about myself because I have been alive for so long with no one to talk to and besides you are one of the best scientists working for the SCP foundation and I know the foundation would love to know about me. But the reason I call myself Schrödinger is simple, I can be anything at any time but I will never know until I become what I am.”I told Schrödinger that his name makes sense but I was curious about his odd grey fur, and in the same calm, non-hesitant voice he says, “ The reason my fur seems strange to you is simple. It's not grey, you just perceive it that way. My fur is a color on the spectrum higher than blue that your eyes cant see, that's why you saw a faint blue light out of the corner of your eye when I first arrived”. At this point something occurred to me so I asked Schrödinger “If you're an anomaly, and all anomalies are created by something by complete accident…then what created you?” Unlike the last questions I asked, Schrödinger did not answer right away, he waited a moment and when he did finally respond he was hesitant…almost like he was scared. “I’m not supposed to talk about it” he said. “They don’t like anyone talking about it, even though they don’t know anything about it besides that it’s an SCP but I understand why They are scared…I can’t blame them because I’m scared too”. I couldn’t believe that… I asked Schrödinger how he could be scared of something if he could be anything and he says “I am scared of the SCP because it is the only thing in every universe that even They don't understand, however, I’ve met it and it almost ripped me apart atom by atom on accident”.

Director: Schrödinger kept saying “They”, did he mean the SCP?

Doctor: I asked him about that and no he didn’t. He explained to me that there are an infinite number of dimensions and the dimensions we live in are created by gods who control every detail of our lives like stories that other gods read for entertainment and if our universe is not good enough then it is erased from existence, that's why Schrödinger said: “ They don't like me talking about it”.

Director: That’s… unsettling to think about. Continue your story.

Doctor: I asked Schrödinger, if he obeyed the same laws of physics that a human does and his answer didn't surprise me. “No, physics are just recommendations to me. Take time for example, you live at one point in time and are constantly moving forward, where I exist in every point of time all at once which is another reason why I call myself Schrödinger. This got me thinking, “what about the SCP that created you, does that obey the laws of physics” I asked and he said yes which sparked my next question, “If you exist at every point in time then that means you exist before you were created…how does that work?” His answer was again simple “Time is a measurement of distance, what I am is greater than any distance.” “But what are you?” I asked. For the second time Schrödinger did not answer the question immediately, in fact this time he didn’t answer at all but instead looked at me and said “I have a gift for you” before pulling a book from thin air before handing it to me.

Director: Is that the book you've had in your hand this whole time?

Doctor: That's correct. When Schrödinger first handed me the book I looked at it and noticed the cover and all the pages were blank, like it is now, so I asked Schrödinger why he was giving me the book and all he said was “just think and focus on the book”. That's when the cover of the book changed, in big gold letters read the words “SCP INFINITY”. I opened the book and on the first page was a picture of Schrödinger giving me the book, I flipped through the next few pages and everything that I was reading was happening right now, so I flipped to the end of the book and that's where I learned that the book was an encyclopedia of the universe and that I could learn everything about anything. I turned back to Schrödinger and asked him why he would give me this but nothing would prepare me for the answer. “Because you're an anomaly like me and you are the only one alive who could understand the book because you can understand the world as it truly is. I looked down at the book and back at Schrödinger but before I could say anything he was gone…like he was never there in the first place. I looked back down at the book and thought…sure enough, golden letters spelled out “Schrödinger” across the cover of the book, I opened it and there I learned what Schrödinger truly was.

Director: So let me get this straight, the SCP in your report was the book and not Schrödinger himself?

Doctor: Yes that's correct

Director: At the start of the interview, you said you were in the mountains of Italy on April 14th when you met the anomaly. Why do you think he picked that day of all days to talk to you?

Doctor: Well… I was in the mountains to take a break from work and celebrate my birthday witch a good view, maybe it had something to do with that but I'm not sure.

Director: I see, how is it you remember everything the anomaly said to you? I would think you would have forgotten some details.

Doctor: What were you doing when you heard the news that the great war had begun.

Director: That information is classified.

Doctor: But you remember that day in good detail right?

Director: Yes. What's your point?

Doctor: My point is Schrödinger is similar to a god, that's not something you forget easily.

Director: That's understandable, tell me more about how the SCP works.

Doctor: I haven't yet figured out how or why it works but the first thing I do is think of a topic and the topic appears on the cover of the book. At the very beginning of the book, is the past of whatever I am focusing on, let's say for example I was thinking of a person. If I were to think of a person and open the book to the first page I would see a drawing of their birth and I've discovered that if I go one page at a time I could see every day that person's life. If I open the book to the middle, I can see what is happing to that person right now and if keep flipping the page then I can keep up with them in real-time. And if I flip to the end of the book I can see the person's future or death however I have learned that doing this is never a good idea because the future is always changing and simply knowing what happens will most likely change it, even if I don't tell anyone. And besides, no one wants to know how or when they will die.

Director: Do you think you could view every moment of someone's life?

Doctor: As far as I can tell, it depends on how much I focus and what I think about so, in theory, yes, but I don't believe I have the mental capacity to do that.

Director: I see, what do you think we should do with the SCP?

Doctor: I’m the only one who can understand it and it's completely harmless otherwise. The best thing for the foundation is for me to keep it so I can help the research of SCPs.

Director: I agree, but I have one more question for you. What is Schrödinger?

Doctor: Schrödinger is…

[Intercom in distance]: WARNING! WARNING! UNKNOWN SCP HAS ESCAPED THE RESEARCH LAB AND IS LOOSE IN THE FACILITY! PROCEED TO NEAREST BUNKER IMMADLEY!

Director: I guess that means we should be going now doctor.
