Scp practice: Dr. Richards

Title: did you see that?
Scp-????
Threat level: Euclid
Special containment procedures: SCP-???? Is to be kept in a standard containment room . SCP-????’s containment room should never be lit beyond 5 lux unless testing is being run, at which point no light source above 20 lux is to be allowed inside. In the case of containment breach security teams should throw the emergency blackout switch located in the nearby security office. Once the blackout switch is thrown all lights within 20m of containment will go out, security teams in the area should turn off all flashlights and switch to night vision goggles until containment of SCP-???? Has been confirmed. Once security teams have confirmed continued containment of all other SCP’s a 10 lux light should be turned on in SCP-????’s containment chamber with a single D-class subject in order to confirm its return.

Description: SCP-???? Is an unknoen entity first located in [redacted] after a string of strange murders were reported to local authrorites and picked up by operatives in the area. SCP-???? Is only active in light levels between 10-20 lux. When in an area below 10 lux SCP-???? Appears to hibernate but will not be visible even with thermal imagining. Any level above 20 lux will cause SCP-???? To immediately relocate to an area within 15m of its current location that meets its required levels.

While SCP-????’s exact form is still unknown it has a easily identifiable pattern. Any time a human enters SCP-????’s current containment with a light between 10-20 lux it will activate. The moment it activates the subject will report that they see something flickering in the corner of their peripheral vision but cannot manage to see it. Subjects exposed to SCP-???? Will repetitively appear in the subjects peripheral vision for one minute, after which two things will happen. If the subject remains inside of SCP-????’s area of influence the subject will begin to receive bite marks over their body, always in a place they are not currently able to see on themselves. These bite marks are consistent with that of the average human male and will continue to appear more frequently and deeper until subject is removed or expires from blood loss.

In the scenario that subject is removed from containment after being bitten, subject will begin to exhibit a strong aversion to light. The next time the subjects go to sleep if they are not within veiw of another human being, bite marks will begin to appear on their body again until they die.

If a subject is removed immediately after viewing SCP-???? Before a bite mark appears subjects will exhibit strange behavior. Within the first hour subjects will have heightened sense of paranoia, and subjects with anxiety report it worsening. After one day has passed subjects will report seeing the flickering in the corner of their eye outside of containment. Once this symptom begins of subject is not in sight of another human being they will disappear. Attempts to track where subjects have gone with GPS trackers shows the subjects returning to SCP-????’s containment, but they cannot be found.

Addendum:

SCP-???? Broke containment on 04/13/17 after Chief Researcher [Redacted] entered the containment chamber with a high powered flashlight. The researcher then proceeded to run through the blackout area with the flashlight, allowing SCP-???? To roam far outside of the 20m blackout area. Upon being captured for a mental evaluation a document was found on his computer.

“I have seen the true face of it, the darkness. It is there in every corner, in every inch of darkness on this planet! We are fools to try and contain it, to try and keep that which has always existed, and will exist long after us in a box. They cannot see it, they cannot comprehend it! But I can see it, I see it there, and it sees me.”

Testing for possible memetic effects are underway and object class has been upgraded to Euclid.
