Director Hollender and Doctor Holtz quickly shuffle through the hallway, avoiding the usual bustle of the morning of Researchers carrying stacks of files, others carrying equipment for their next experiment. It was a beautiful day outside, Hollender and Holtz passed through the open-roof garden in the middle of the complex, complete with a set of benches surrounding a fountain with hedges and lush grass. Charles looked up to see the bright sun showering him in the warming light of the afternoon. He looked back down to see that he was standing still in the middle of the pathway while Holtz peered at him with a smile.
"C'mon Charles, it's your big day."
"I know, I know. Just enjoying the sun."
Holtz smiles at him and takes hold of his cold marble hands.
"You can enjoy it more after we get this off of you." She says pointing at Charles' SCP-6703 infection.
Charles gladly lets Holtz guide him through the corridor. He imagined it as one of those childhood experiences you had back in the day. The way that all the problems faded away and all that mattered was that you were happy and with the people that supported you. It made Charles feel appreciated and loved. Charles had decided to bring his dog Jäger to the site today. Of course the other directors had disapproved of this, but he didn't care. Today was about him and him only. Jäger was acting as excited as ever, wagging his tail and bringing joy to all the staff that saw him, going from researcher to researcher asking for a scratch behind the ear. Finally, Hollender and Holtz reached the medical office. His excitement had died down a little, and he dragged himself back into reality.
"Charles, are you ready for this? You've been waiting for this moment forever now!" Holtz said enthusiastically.
"I guess so. Thanks for being with my today, Evelyn."
"Of course, no problem." She jabbed Hollender with her elbow playfully.
"Alright, here we go."
The pair walked into the office, the natural light of outside quickly disappearing, but Charles' good mood still remaining. All of Hollender's close friends had come to support him; Doctor Langly, Researcher Brett, Researcher Michael Wreathes, and a few members of his security detail from MTF Gamma-14 had been there to reinforce his positive attitude. Charles had been so used to being pessimistic about life ever since he caught the Contagious Stone infection, but now he felt like his life would be put back on track and he could finally be allowed to visit his family for Christmas and Thanksgiving. Ever since he was contaminated with SCP-6703, he has been kept at the site he oversees, Evelyn and Even Gregor, the captain of Mobile Task Force Gamma-14. Doctor Ville patiently waited at the front desk.
"Good day Director Hollender, come in for any particular reason on this fine day?" She says while smirking at him slightly. Her tall, narrow body combined with her long black hair established her authority in the room.
"I have come to get rid of my SCP-6703 infection, if it wouldn't be a problem for you." He replies.
"Certainly Director. Right this way." She gestures back into the clinic and Hollender follows.
The two walk through the brightly lit hallway and make themselves through the winding corridors of the medical ward. They finally make their way to the examination room. The florescent lights shining into Hollender's eye, annoying him slightly.
