SCP-X Overview

This picture shows what SCP-X looks to the unaware observer. Its true form cannot be ascertained by humans due to our limited frame of reference.

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-X is a Euclid Class Reality Warping Location that should not be entered under any circumstances unless approved by Level-4 Research Personnel. Any Foundation staff member found interacting with or experimenting with SCP-X shall be either be demoted or terminated based upon how long the interaction took place. Proper testing can be requested through Level-4 Research Personnel and shall also be approved by the O-5 Council with a majority vote.

Five (5) Security Personnel are to be stationed at an undisclosed location near SCP-X and observe the SCP-X around the clock to prevent and containment breaches either by civilians or by unsanctioned Foundation personnel. Memetic devices currently being used on the local populace to discourage explorations of SCP-X to prevent SCP-X from gaining more attention.
Any entity that emerges from SCP-X is to be promptly contained by any means necessary, no exceptions. After containment occurs successfully, Grade-A, Grade-E and if needed, Grade-G Amnestics shall be released into the air upwind from the town's location to effectively wipe the memories of the entire town of ██████.

Description: SCP-X is located in ████, Iowa and takes the form of an old abandoned home with overgrown tall grass. The grass is designated SCP-X-1 and the home itself is designated SCP-X-2. SCP-X-1 takes the appearance of an unknown species of prairie grass that appears outwardly to be course and unarranged, similar to the growing patterns of weeds. This is not the case upon closer inspection as the stems do not intertwine or interfere with any other stems' growth. SCP-X-1's height starts at 1.64 feet (0.5 meters) in height but quickly grows to 6.71 feet (2.05 meters) as it grows closer to the front door and garage door of SCP-X-2.

SCP-X-2 is an old, abandoned house that is in a severe state of disrepair but upon closer inspection, the window panes and curtains are in pristine condition. Movement within the home has also been seen and occasionally lights appear as well. Brief instances of conversation have been heard coming from the home as if there is a large gathering of people attending a social gathering, far greater than the size of the home allows for. How any of these occurrences happen or what is causing these phenomena to occur is unknown at this time.

SCP-X-1's anomalous properties manifest when any living creature wanders into and out of sight of the observer. From there, no trace of the creature that entered can be viewed or ascertained. Analysis reveals that as soon as the line of sight is broken the creature in question completely disappears. How this process takes place is currently unknown and is still being investigated.

Addendum X-A: Upon further investigation of the property, it is revealed that this property belonged to a man by the name of "Jacque Franz Montague" and his wife "Aisha Cameron" up until their disappearance in ████, prior to the end of the Cold War. Montague became an immediate pillar of the community shortly after moving into SCP-X with his wife. His wife became a standard of what the women strove to be and modelled their behavior and all appeared to be well. There were no outward signs of a broken marriage or adultery. The last time they were seen by the public was on September ██, 19 ██ after they walked home from a community meeting. The last time individuals were seen when a large gathering of people entered the home shortly afterwards on September ██, 19 ██ during the evening as the sun was setting.

Addendum X-B: Upon further investigation, it appears that "Jean Franz Montague" and "Aisha Cameron" were front names and either never truly existed in the first place or were wiped from existence in their entirety. The true identity of the man and woman were never found and are deemed lost and irretrievable until further notice. Further attempts pending approval from O-5 Council.

Addendum X-C: Approval granted by O-5 Council to use higher dimensional devices capable of peering into the past, present and future to gleam what happened on the day the individuals disappeared. Three (3) D-Class personnel were used to for the experiment and were instructed on how to operate the machine and what their task was. Please view They understood and agreed to perform the task.

Show Incident X-C Report

Incident X-C: Upon using the device to peer into the past to review the circumstance, the D-Class using the device immediately began to suffer violent convulsions and began to bleed from their eyes, ears, mouth, and nose saying obscure obscenities while crying out in pain. After applying time/space distortion safeguards, Level-3 Research Personnel peered into the device and discovered that at the exact moment the door closed after the husband and wife entered the home, the entire property dislodged from local space/time and left behind a visage of the home. The current location of the home itself is outside of the scope of the dimensional viewing device.

The D-Class personnel were provided Class-A Amnestics to erase the immediate trauma inflicted on their minds in an attempt to ease their pain. This was met with mixed results—the D-Class do not remember anything that transpired at the time of testing but the events were ingrained into their consciousnesses and are in effect permanent damage done. Further investigation is needed on this matter to see if these psychological wounds are truly irreversible.

Follow-Up Report to Incident X-C: It has been determined that positive psychological therapy mixed with Class-G Amnestics allowed for total reversal of psychological damage upon the D-Class Personnel. Following this reveal, Doctor ██████ █. ████████ was promoted from Level-2 Researched to Level-3 Researcher at Site-██. Doctor ██████ █. ████████ is appreciative of her promotion.

Addendum X-D: Further investigation of the town reveals that occasionally a person is seen standing near or on the property, usually during midnight hours when "the darkness it at its deepest." The description of said person is unknown as nothing can be seen in the darkness of night. There is a substantial missing persons log of the people that have decided to either explore the property or have disappeared around the same time the figure appeared on the house's property. Further testing pending O-5 approval to begin sending in D-Class.

Some information may contradict other information as is the case of the standard Reality Warping Event. Collaborative efforts were used to make sure the Test Logs are as accurate as possible by utilizing an Objectified Observer¹ on all the incidents that occurred during testing.

Test Log #001 | March █,20██

Subject: D-Class 67103-7, a slim, latino male aproximately 5'9" (1.75 meters) in height and 135 lbs. (61 kilograms) covered in graphics tattoos that depict all the murders he has committed. Currently convicted of 5 murders but is suspected of committing over 51 murders.

Procedure: Testing of the boundary of SCP-X-1's radius of influence began on March █,20██ by using one (1) D-Class Personnel as a test subject. The D-Class was outfitted with a simple cable and head mounted video camera that used the tether to stay tied to a hardline. The instructions were simple—simple take a step one step at a time as instructed. The D-Class managed to make it seven feet in before vision of the D-Class became obstructed enough that the D-Class disappeared. The cable did not continue to move. Foundation personnel attempted to contact D-Class with no results—the feed was severed. Research personnel on scene proceeded to reel in D-Class but the retrieval failed. The test began with approximately 30 feet (9.144 meters) and ended up with a staggering 782 feet (238.35 meters) of cable and the cable continues to extend into the tall grass unabated.

Results: The experiment was deemed a failure. The D-Class personnel was lost and presumed irretrievable.

Analyisis: Foundation is staff is unsure what to do with a sudden surplus of cable that won't seem to end no matter how much has been pulled from SCP-X-1. Pending review for course of action in regards to retrieval.

Addendum Test Log #001: Further testing approved by O-5 Council.

Test Log #002 | March ██,20██

Subject: D-Class 989105-1, a heavy-set white male, approximately 6'3" (1.90 meters) tall and 385 lbs. (174.63 kilograms) in weight, convicted of third degree murder on over twelve individual women.

Procedure: Attempt number two in ascertaining the true nature of SCP-X, this time with the use of wireless communication devices that are solar powered and battery powered. Another D-Class personnel was utilized for the test. The D-Class personnel was instructed to walk ten steps into the tall grass. At this time, one of the guards for the security detail placed a gun to the D-Class's head and the D-Class became compliant with the demand after being put at gun point. At this point the D-Class personnel disappeared from view. Foundation personnel hailed the D-Class 989105-1 after a brief period of 30 seconds of silence. The D-Class replied to the radio communication after a one-minute lapse of silence. Below is a transcription of what took place.

Transcription of Conversation Between Level-3 Researcher R. Daniels and D-Class 989105-1:

Researcher Daniels: "D-Class 989105-1 do you copy? Over."

Silence.

Researcher Daniels: "D-Class 989105-1. Do you copy? Over."

Silence. The silence continued for another minute until D-Class 989105-1 responded.

D-Class 989105-1: "Yeah I'm sorry I was trying to figure out how this works. I can hear you clear as day. Where am I?"

Researcher Daniels: "What do you see?"

D-Class 989105-1: "I see just tall grass but it's different. The grass is suddenly way taller than it should look and I can't see over it."

Researcher Daniels: "Do you see anything else?"

D-Class 989105-1: "Just grass."

Researcher Daniels: "Okay. Turn on your headset camera. There's a button on the side."

Researcher Daniels: "D-Class 989105-1, is there a breeze?"

D-Class 989105-1: "Yeah a pleasant one. Can I come back now? It's really quiet here. Like, really quiet. Almost too quiet if you ask me."

Researcher Daniels: "Please explain."

D-Class 989105-1: "I can't hear any birds chirping or bugs buzzing. I can't even see any insects in the dirt on the ground."

Researcher Daniels: "Please dig into the soil and see if you see any kind of life within the soil. Please place the sound in hands-free move."

The D-Class does as he is told and proceeds to dig. He dug a hole one-foot-deep with his bare hands. No insects, mites or worms were seen during the whole process of testing. The D-Class is breathing heavily as he digs.

Researcher Daniels: "You may stop now."

D-Class 989105-1: "Can I come back now?"

Researcher Daniels: "Return in the opposite direction in which you can."

D-Class 989105-1 is seen and heard walking through the grass just as he is told. Five minutes pass by with continuous walking.

D-Class 989105-1: "How far is this walk? I know I didn't walk this far."

Researcher Daniels: "Please exit the tall grass."

D-Class 989105-1: "I should have left the grass by now!"

The faint sound of footsteps can be heard approaching the D-Class.
D-Class 989105-1: "Is that you coming to get me?"

Researcher Daniels: "We haven't sent anyone in there to retrieve you. Do you see who is approaching you?"

D-Class 989105-1: "No but I hear them. This isn't funny I can't see anyone. Who's there? Show yourself!"
The footsteps continue to grow in volume at a steady pace.

Researcher Daniels: "D-Class 989105-1. Look in the direction of the sound."

D-Class 989105-1: "How?! The sound is coming from behind me only! No matter how I turn my head it's always behind me!"

D-Class 989105-1 is seen and heard running in a panic through the tall grass. Whatever that is chasing D-Class 989105-1 is giving chase. D-Class 989105-1 trips and falls, knocking the headset camera free. D-Class 989105-1 cries out in pain about a sudden pain in his leg from a pulled muscle.

D-Class 989105-1: "What the fuck is that?! OH GOD GET IT OFF ME HELP ME! AAAA-"

Abrupt silence.

Researcher Daniels: "D-Class 989105-1 what is going on? What happened? Respond."

Silence. Foundation staff attempted to reach D-Class 989105-1 to no avail. No further communication is detected but the sound of footsteps can be heard through the microphone. After thirty (30) seconds, all sounds cease except for the sound of rustling grass.

End of Log.

Results: D-Class 989105-1 was attacked and presumed killed by an unseen and unknown entity through a silent method. It was deemed humanoid from the sound-enhanced review of the audio of the entity's footsteps. The test was deemed a failure.

Analysis: It has been revealed that possible humanoid entities resides within SCP-X-1 which brings credence to the sightings of men-shaped individuals standing on the property during midnight hours in sporadic intervals over decades. Still need more evidence to provide to the O-5 Council.

Addendum Test Log #002: Further testing approved by O-5 Council; O-5 Council is becoming interested in the bizarre circumstances of SCP-X's ability to warp reality.

Test Log #003 | August ██,20██

Subject: Three subjects were used for this test as approved by O-5 Council. The D-Class to be used are listed below. Each was given an extensive psychological evaluation before being approved for the testing.

D-Class 5468-5: A short, stocky male of Asiatic decent, approximately 5'4"(1.63 meters)
in height and 160 lbs. (72.57 kilograms) in weight. This D-Class was charged with First-Degree Murder and, Assault and Battery, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Note: Due to the gruesomeness of the crime, this man's fists were labeled deadly weapons.

D-Class 801004-4: A tall, lanky male of Nordic decent, approximately 6'8" (2.03 meters) in height and 230 lbs. (104.32 kilograms) in weight. This D-Class was charged with a whole slew of cyber-crimes that are too long to list.

D-Class 89033-8: A slim, petite female of Navajo decent, approximate 5'3" (1.60 meters) in height and 119 lbs. (53.99 kilograms) in weight. This D-Class was charged with hunting, abducting and ritualistically killing men of various ages in an attempt to create "the perfect man" to become the vessel for her "god".

"If we have an entity or possible entities that are inhabiting this space/time anomaly it's better to have multiple D-Class used for this next round of tests. At least one should be able to catch a glimpse of whatever is stalking the D-Class during the test." ~Level-4 Researcher Greg █. █████.

Procedure:
The three D-Class Personnel were outfitted with standard issue surveillance equipment and were instructed to enter the tall grass. After 10 seconds the D-Class ceased to be visible and were fully engaged with the effects of SCP-X-1. Their surveillance equipment was running at optimal power. They were instructed to keep each other in sight and they obliged.

Below is a transcript of the conversation that took place.

D-Class-A, D-Class-B, and D-Class-C are on screen walking within close proximity of each other. D-Class-B is casually reaching out and touching the tall grass. D-Class-C slaps his hand down to discourage this behavior.

D-Class-B: What was that for?

D-Class-C: Do not touch the grass. You do not know what properties it has. You're like a child touching things he doesn't understand.

D-Class-B proceeded to reach out to the grass again to agitate D-Class-C. D-Class-A intervened with the threat of violence. D-Class-B and D-Class-C began to behave again. D-Class-A has appointed himself as leader. The three D-Class personnel resumed their trek straight through the grass. Seven minutes passed by uneventfully.

D-Class-B: How long are we gonna be walking?

D-Class-A: As long as it takes.

D-Class-B: What do you think this grass is?

D-Class-A: Don't know, don't care.

D-Class-B reaches out and pulls on a single large stalk of grass. It takes substantial effort to break it free from the ground—D-Class-B was seen and heard struggling until the stalk finally pulled free. Immediately afterwards the grass and ground began to tremble and shake as if convulsing from pain, then the tremors stopped as abruptly as they began. D-Class-B holds the tall grass stem in his hand and D-Class-C punches him in the face. He falls to the ground and she kicks him in the stomach.

D-Class-C: What did I JUST say about touching things here?! Unbelievable! Men are so STUPID!

D-Class-C picks up the stem and was about to throw it when she noticed that the stem was releasing a viscous red substance from the torn section. She looks closely and smells the red liquid. Curiosity takes the better of her and she samples the blood. D-Class-C promptly drops the stem and backs away. D-Class-B rises to his feet during this time.

D-Class-C: We need to keep moving and fast.

D-Class-A: Why?

D-Class-B: Yeah, why?

D-Class-C: Because this isn't grass that we're standing in. It has blood in it. What kind of grass has blood in it? RED blood? HUMAN blood? I know the taste of human blood anywhere and let me tell you that's bonefide human blood right there.

D-Class-B: C'mon I think you need to calm down.

D-Class-C: No you need to stop being stupid before we-

D-Class-C was interrupted by the sound of approaching footsteps. Multiple overlapping footsteps all walking asynchronously towards the D-Class Group. D-Class-C glares and slaps D-Class-B. Without further need for discussion all three D-Class Personnel were running in the same direction in an attempt to avoid the creatures walking towards them. The creatures kept pace. The height of the tall grass began to fluctuate wildly and in small pockets the tall grass was growing down from the sky in random large patches. After running for a solid three minutes, the D-Class came to a large clearing devoid of the tall grass. The D-Class ran into the clearing and turned to see what was standing within the tall grass as their followers had stopped near the edges of the grass. At this point, all visual equipment began to distort and glitch and error out from the human perspective. The creatures following the D-Class apparently retreated back into the grass as evident from the sudden return of high definition video feed.

D-Class-B: What was that?

D-Class-C: I don't know but probably has something to do with the fact that you pulled the grass out and probably summoned spirits to come kill us you idiot.

D-Class-B: You don't believe that do you?

D-Class-C slapped D-Class-B again.

Test Log #004 | September █, 20██

Subject: D-Class-E

Procedure: D-Class-E was instructed to move the lawn in its entirety with a normal, non-anomalous lawn mover, edger and trimmer. That was his only task. Elite Task Force "Lawn Service" was in place to deal with any anomalous creatures.

"What an anti-climatic test. After all the weird shit we've dealt with over the course of these tests on SCP-X and nothing crazy happened? I feel cheated." ~Level-4 Researcher Greg █. █████.

Results: D-Class-E had completed his task to near perfect over the course of four (4) hours. There were no mishaps during the length of the experiment. At 12:41 A.M. for approximately 1 hour and six minutes, multiple instances of shadowy figures designated SCP-X-3 were seen on the property and appeared en masse through anomalous means. Over 76 different instances were seen standing on the property. The humes reading increased dramatically during this time and reach unknown levels. Multiple residents from the town of ██████ began to cry out in fear as many individuals began to be abducted by the humanoid entites that appeared all over the tower. In response to this sudden surge of activity, the usage of large-scale reality anchors to disperse the humanoid entities and to mitigate the total loss of life.

The deployment was a success with a few casualties—these were unavoidable as the individuals that perished we half phased into another reality and were subsequently bisected. Class-A, Class-E and Class-G Amnestics were utilized to remove all knowledge of the victims as well as the manipulation of birth records, financial records, health records and living arrangements to remove tangible evidence of the victims. Approximately at 6:41 A.M. the grass appeared to be fully grown with no signs that any attempt to shorten it was made. D-Class E also reported hearing ominous whispers that couldn't be deciphered but was overall unharmed.

Analysis: Attempts at cutting the grass nearly ended up with the complete destruction of ██████ and the total annihilation of all sentient life within the town itself.

Subject: D-Class-E
