SCP 5007 Keter
Containment:
Scp 5007 is held in a 10m by 10m room in a 2m by 2m metal box. The interior of the box stays at 35 degrees Celsius. The cold appears to slows 5007’s movements and breeding. The hive has stayed at around 5000 individuals. If the SCP ever breaks out of the box, the room’s air will drop to 0 degrees fahrenheit. Despite being freezing this does not seem to kill the insects but put them in a hibernation-like state. Smashing as well as burning seem to be the only way to kill them. Containment for SCP 5007 is starting to seem slowly getting less effective. Due to the rapid breeding of mosquitoes, the hive is slowly been getting more cold resistant. The hive also skips the aquatic phase of the mosquito's life cycle. SCP 5007 is class keter.
Description:
SCP 5007 is a swarm of mosquitos with two glowing red eyes. The swarm is constantly in motion in a blob like shape. SCP 5007 can/will change its shape as well as disperse. The entity has been seen transforming into tornados as well as spheres. The species of mosquito has been identified as the yellow fever mosquito. Each mosquito seems to have multiple bards on its proboscis. Each barb contains tiny retractable thread like tentacles hidden, each 3 meters long. SCP 5007 is a hive mind. Each individual mosquito is under the control of one mental entity. If one mosquito sees it, they all instantly are given the information. When a mosquito attaches itself to a host the tentacles inject themselves into the nerves, spine, and brain taking full control of the victim. They gain access to body functions and memories. Studies with D Class personnel have shown SCP 5007 takes control of it’s victims to access new areas as well as having new members defend the swarm. In colder weathers the SCP moves slower and reproduces less. In warmer weather the SCP moves faster and breeds very rapidly.
Addendum 5007.1: Psychological Evaluation of Raymus Hanson
Doctor Raymus Hanson’s PSYCH EVAL log
Doctor: Can you please tell me who you are again
Raymus: I’mmm, I’mmmm, Doctor Raymus Hanson. I was born in nineteen eighty… eighty.. eighty…
Doctor: Nineteen eighty one.
Raymus: Yes june eighteenth, nineteen eighty one.
Doctor: Raymus, do you remember where you were going. Why were you sent there.
Raymus: I was…. I was…. Sent to africa to help a remote tribe. They were suffering from diseases like AIDS, Yellow fever, West nile, and something else…
Doctor: …. to examine the threat of a possible world ending disease
Raymus: Yes, I was sent to register the likelihood of a new catastrophic disease
Doctor: what happened when you got there
Raymus: I had to take a three day hike to reach the tribe through the savanna. As I… When I walked… the buzzing…. The buzzing…. THE BUZZING MAKE IT STOP!!!!
Doctor: Someone hold him down when I inject the sedatives
Raymus was held down and sedatives were injected
Addendum 5007.2: Psychological Evaluation and Mission Briefing of Rick Morrison(MTF-Nine Tailed Fox)
Sargent Rick Morrison’s mission briefing:
Doctor: Can you please state your name and birth?
Rick: Rick Morrison, born in missouri on january first nineteen seventy three.
Doctor: Well you seem to have your head together. Why don’t you inform me about the mission. Run down what happened.
Rick: Me and 11 other men were sent into the savanna to make contact with a Doctor Raymus Hanson. After a three day hike in the desert we started running into environmental problems. At first we thought it was a sand storm slowly picking up. Then we noticed that is was mosquitos, with the swarm getting thicker as we moved closer to the village. It go so thick we couldn't see past one in a half, maybe two meters.
Doctors: How far away were you from the village?
Rick: When the swarm first started picking up we were about 30 meters away but now we are in the village. We tied rope to each other like were rock climbing just so we don’t get lost.
Doctor: So what happened in the village?
Rick: When we arrive we couldn't find any of the natives. The place seemed run down. Then out of the swarm the natives started jumping at us. They held primitive weapons like dull knives and clubs. They killed four of my men, so my unit is down to eight. These natives we unhuman, some of them looked half dead, down to the bone but could jump and move like animals. One of them even got ahold of my mens gun and tried using it like a club. We shot them all and even then they kept twitching. The only one that got away had our gun but didn’t seem to know how to use it.
Doctor: Didn’t seem to know how to use it?
Rick: I’ll get to that. So men and my seven remaining men go into a small hut. Raymus is staring at the wall sitting down with his back towards us. We called out to him but he did not respond. As one of my men, I think private Jackson, reached towards him, he turned around with a knife. Jackson’s helmet has a small crack in it about 5cm. I hit Raymus on the back of the head with the butt of my gun. I remember noticing that I smashed a mosquito lodged in the back of his neck with that hit. We handcuffed him and started dragging him back to the chopper. At that time one of my men pointed out that the swarm started going into the crack in Jacksons full body suit. At this time the tribesmen with the gun broke into the tent. Suddenly Jackson and the native started shooting at us. A man who never even seen a gun before suddenly knew how to use it like seal team six. Me and my remaining men got down and started firing back. When the fight was over it was down to Me, Raymus, and four more of my men. We started heading towards the direction of the chopper but didn’t notice the swarm dieing down. It kept at the same thickness. I told my men to go on. I went back with an incendiary grenade and blew up one of the tents and booked it. The swarm suddenly surrounded the tent in a large tornado putting the fire out. Luckily we all got away when the swarm was distracted with self preservation.
Doctor: So that is all?
Rick: We got on the chopper and came back here. On another note, how fucked in the head is Raymus?
Doctor: What would leave you to believe that Doctor Raymus has any mental problems?
Rick: What you said before “…well you seem to have your head held together” almost implying that it should be broken in some way. If I’m not mistaken Raymus was also in here right before me. So let me ask again, how broken is Raymus?
Doctor: Have a nice day sergeant
Addendum 5007.3: Second Attempt at Capture Summary
Second attempt at capture/containment of SCP 5007 was unsuccessful. Only 100 mosquitos were brought back for studies. The use of insecticides on the swarm only agitated it causing the swarm to fight back. The swarm was able to find holes in a few soldiers suits and took them over. Of the 50 soldiers 32 died and 14 injured. The use of fly tape was ineffective. Not only could majority of the mosquitos break free after the first 100 initial got stuck the swarm was already notified of the trap. Due to some soldiers being controlled by SCP 5007, it is estimated that the hive knows all information that the soldiers knew about the SCP facility. Some codes have been changed as well as passwords.
Addendum 5007.4: Data on Specimens Brought Back
Studies for the first 100 specimens of SCP 5007 have shown a dislike towards lower temperature. At 35 degrees SCP 5007 becomes sluggish and breeds less. At 0 degrees the mosquitos go into a hibernation like state. They don’t drink or eat and will eventually die if left in this state for 3 days. Warmer temperature cause the mosquitos to move and breed fast. Test with warm temperatures were stopped after the new forming swarm attempted to escape unsuccessfully. Due to the risk of breeding and low number more mosquitos are needed.
Addendum 5007.5: Third Attempt at Capture Summary
SCP 5007 was successfully captured. A new MTF squad lead by Rick Morrison tied a rope to the end of a blood bag. After dragging the blood bag into the 2m by 2m box we closed it and dropped the temperature. The insects in the box slowed there movements and seemed sluggish. After leaving the site, the bomb jets disposed of the village and all remaining mosquitoes belonging to the hive. SCP 5007 can be found in vault .
