Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX extraction protocols must taken during daytime hours while the specimens are in a dormant state. All instances are to be kept within a two to five mile containment field, bordered by ten-inch concrete walls as to avoid containment breach. Specimens are to be fed within a five day period of live small-to-medium sized prey items.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an instance of organic creature of unknown origin. The body typically resembles that of a Hudson Hornet, though other specimens vary in physical appearances depending on the environment in which SCP-XXXX is located, including Chevrolet Chevelle, Standard Vanguard, Pick-Up Truck, Jeep Patriot, COE, and included public transportation vehicles such as a transit bus, and according to one instance taking appearance of an electric street tram. Public organic vehicles are labeled as SCP-XXXX-02. SCP-XXXXs weight and height very between appearances, and are identical to the vehicle it takes appearance of. The outer body of SCP-XXXX is made up of highly concentrated levels of Keratin, which is concluded to give the creature its "metallic" appearance.
The eyes of SCP-XXXX are made up of three sets: the first pair located in the frontal headlights, a secondary pair of eyes on the rear-view mirrors, and a third pair on the rear headlights, giving SCP-XXXX a nearly three-hundred sixty degree level of vision, with the exception of being above SCP-XXXX, as it's unable to look upward beyond 30 degrees in its rear-view mirrors.
Its mouth is located underneath the vehicle body, hidden in between the frontal wheels. No teeth are visible within the mouth cavity, instead discovering a tongue measuring at one meter across and three meters long, lined with barbs also made of a keratin-like organic matter.
The location of the heart, lungs, and stomach are located under the frontal hood, resembling the common parts of a car's engine, and the small and large intestines are made up of the car's pipes. A highly acidic substance is observed within the stomach cavity, which are able to dissolve organic tissues approximately ten to fifteen minutes after ingestion. Excretions are observed being released through the exhaust pipe. Each one of these internal organs are also coated in a keratin-like substance, resembling that of metal.
The seats and steering wheel of the creature is made up of soft, skin-like tissues, the accessories such as the cupholder and frontal dash being made up of a smoothed, calcified substance not yet identified. (samples only received from deceased SCP-XXXX specimens).

Behavior
SCP-XXXX are known to appear near and/or within human suburban or urban settlements, typically where common prey is in close proximity. Most reports of SCP-XXXX are located near abandoned homes, empty fielded lots, or alongside old roads. SCP-XXXX remains dormant during 500 to 1800 hours in the day, becoming active throughout nighttime hours which it will then roam and patrol for signs of prey. Rarely, if ever do SCP-XXXX instances venture off flattened terrain in search for prey.
multiple SCP-XXXX organisms had been observed at a singular site, often being mistaken as "car graveyards" by local encounters. Amounts of this instance vary between five to fifty organisms. There is no current evidence of dominance hierarchy and/or herd mentality between individuals, as SCP-XXXX aren't shown to interact with one another, excluding times of hunting as previously mentioned. Despite no dominance hierarchy, they had been shown pack hunting behaviors, more notably in smaller instances, hunting in groups of three to five. These packs are sighted often where prey is highly abundant, as less prey will result in singular hunting instances on a higher scale than instances of group hunters.
SCP-XXXX is observed to be an ambush predator, and will find a suitable area where it will wait until prey wanders within reach. Once a prey item is within a hundred feet radius, SCP-XXXX will become active, and chase after the prey item, which it will attempt to incapacitate by brutally running over the prey item. Once the prey is incapacitated, it will move and place itself over the body, and proceed to swallow the prey item whole, the body digested within its stomach cavity in acidic juices. SCP-XXXX is not shown any scavenging behavior, and will not eat any deceased organic material prior to nighttime hours. Types of prey items vary on the size of SCP-XXXX instance, though animals matching or exceeding human size, such as full grown cattle, aren't commonly targeted.
SCP-XXXX-02 is observed to have a drastically different hunting behavior when compared to SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-02 instances will locate a lone individual, or a group of individuals, and attempt to lure them into its interior body by driving up to them and opening its passenger door. If the individuals enter said instance, it will proceed to drive back to its resting site, and then proceed to incapacitate its prey with a similar gas being released, effects similar to chloroform. Once all individuals are incapacitated, SCP-XXXX-02 will proceed to release its acidic juices onto its prey, liquifying them, and absorbing them into its skin and into the stomach cavity. No physical mouth is evident on the exterior of SCP-XXXX-02.
Defense
SCP-XXXX's vulnerable area is within the seating compartment. It is possible to enter the seating compartment of SCP-XXXX, but if one does this, SCP-XXXX will suddenly become active, and lock the creature inside, sealing all "doors and windows", and releasing a type of gas from the "AC units". The victims die of suffocation after two to three hours of exposure. The exact type of gas released by SCP-XXXX is currently unknown as attempts to extract the gases emitted by SCP-XXXX had been unsuccessful due to its behavior of sealing itself prior to the release. It can be hypothesized that this is SCP-XXXX's defense mechanism, as it will not activate this unless the individual harms the interior in some way.
Reproduction
There isn't any observed sexual dimorphism between SCP-XXXX specimens, though it's been noted that SCP-XXXX females become more agitated and prone to attack during the start of February to the end of may. the trunk compartment of SCP-XXXX female specimens are revealed to be used as a brooding pouch to hold and nurture their unborn young. The trunk compartment is sealed shut during incubation periods, only willingly opening up once the young are fully developed.
Juvenile SCP-XXXX specimens mirror their surrogate parents in appearance upon fully developing, and wild specimens will leave their territory just two days after birth.
