SCP-XXXX: The Reverse Snorkel

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 are to be locked in two, separate standard object containment boxes. No personnel may interact with SCP-XXXX except for testing purposes only.¹ An 8 m x 5 m rectangular hole with a depth of 9 meters is to be installed near SCP-XXXX's containment boxes. The hole shall be filled with only water. Any non-water substance is to be removed from the pool immediately. The water is to be constantly heated at an 26°C-32°C to ensure personnel safety if SCP-XXXX is ever to be combined and worn. Any leaks in the pool should be attended to immediately, and the pool is to be refilled to compensate for the lost water.

Description: SCP-XXXX is the designation of two parts of a standard commercial snorkel set. The mask (SCP-XXXX-1) and the snorkel itself (SCP-XXXX-2) are two separate parts that can be removed and combined at will. SCP-XXXX was discovered in █████ █████, Florida, when reports of a man wearing a snorkel mask nearly drowned despite never getting in the water until right before he was about to drown. When asked about the set, the man said that the box of the snorkel said "This dandy device will help you breath underwater!"

SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 do not display any anomalous properties when separated, and function like a normal snorkel mask and snorkel of their quality and build. Anomalous properties start to manifest when both are combined and put on a user. Immediately after a subject puts SCP-XXXX on, their lungs and their entire bodies start to fill up with salt water. If they are not submerged in water, they cannot take off SCP-XXXX without [DATA EXPUNGED]. (See Incident XXXX-F19) Once the wearer's body is at least 50% submerged in water, the excess water in the wearer's body will be drained, and SCP-XXXX can be removed. If a user drowns from SCP-XXXX or dies from any other means without getting in the water, then the water will stop filling up the wearer, however it will stay in their body, and SCP-XXXX can be removed from the corpse.

Once a subject dives underwater with SCP-XXXX, it will enable the wearer to be able to breathe underwater through unknown means, even if the snorkel opening is below water. This can enable the wearer to breathe underwater for any amount of time. No limit to SCP-XXXX's capabilities have been recorded to date. SCP-XXXX will also give its wearer small resistance to water pressure, allowing them to swim further underwater without the risk of body parts being crushed.

As SCP-XXXX was supposedly bought from a store, investigation is currently underway to ensure that there are no other instances of SCP-XXXX.

Addendum XXXX-A: For God's sakes, SCP-XXXX is not a freaking toy! It is an SCP for a reason. I do not care what reasoning you have, no one may interact with SCP-XXXX except if it is for testing. If I hear one of you treating it like a toy again, I won't hesitate to report you to administration. - Dr. ████

Input credentials

On 04/24/██, Dr. ██████ tested to see if it was possible to remove SCP-XXXX from a subject without submerging into water. D-7208 was instructed to put on SCP-XXXX, and then to take it off again. After putting on SCP-XXXX, D-7208 was naturally in distress from the sudden water filling his body. He immediately tried to take of SCP-XXXX, but found he couldn't. He tried harder and harder and continued to fail. However, before Dr. ██████ could instruct him to go into the pool, D-7208 pulled on SCP-XXXX extremely hard one last time, and got it off, but his face was also [DATA EXPUNGED]. Cleaning teams were sent to dispose of D-7208, corpse.
