Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX's access is to be restricted by a 10 feet high fence that runs around it. Civilian vehicles driving towards SCP-XXXX are to be redirected using roadblocks and signposts. The Foundation has collaborated with the government of Illinois to create a new highway section which acts as a replacement for SCP-XXXX. A cover up story was given that the section was improperly built and that it was no longer safe to be used.
Recovered SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 instances are to be amnesticized, given medical care if necessary and can be safely returned into the public.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a section of U.S. Highway ██ between █████ █████ and ███████████, Illinois and is believed to be approximately ██ miles in length. Under regular circumstances, SCP-XXXX does not display any anomalous behaviour and appears to be an ordinary highway.
SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects activate when a vehicle containing one or more persons (jointly designated as SCP-XXXX-1) stops on SCP-XXXX's shoulder due to an emergency. Examples of emergencies that cause SCP-XXXX to activate include vehicle malfunctions, health emergencies and traffic collisions.
When it activates, the occupants (jointly designated as SCP-XXXX-2) of a vehicle currently driving past SCP-XXXX-1 become anomalously compelled to approach and aid SCP-XXXX-1. However, the behaviour performed by SCP-XXXX-2 has always been observed to be the purposeful worsening of SCP-XXXX-1's situation. The degree to which a new instance of SCP-XXXX-2 will negatively affect SCP-XXXX-1 increases each time it activates. SCP-XXXX activates every 2 to 7 minutes and will cease only if either all of SCP-XXXX-1 have left SCP-XXXX or have expired.
Observed SCP-XXXX-2 behaviour:
- Destruction or disposal of SCP-XXXX-1's tools and equipment necessary for reparation of SCP-XXXX-1's vehicle.
- Attempts at applying additional damage to malfunctioning parts of SCP-XXXX-1's vehicle.
- Attempts at increasing the health risk of an SCP-XXXX-1 member in need of medical care.
- Physical attacks on SCP-XXXX-1 ranging from non-fatal to extremely violent.
Despite its violent behaviour, the speech of SCP-XXXX-2 remains friendly. SCP-XXXX-2 members will often verbally offer to help before performing the behaviours described above and will kindly bid farewell even if all of SCP-XXXX-1 are unconscious or dead. Interviewed individuals of SCP-XXXX-2 instances claim to have no recollection of their actual actions and instead believe they successfully aided SCP-XXXX-1.
Addendum XXXX-1: Discovery log
SCP-XXXXwas discovered by Agent McKenna when he was on duty screening 911 calls for potential anomalous activity. Agent McKenna, posing as a police officer, drove to the position of the 911 caller who described three strange men destroying their vehicle with hockey sticks on the side of the highway. The following is a log of the event described by Agent McKenna.
<Begin log>
Agent McKenna arrives at the scene. There are four cars parked on the shoulder of SCP-XXXX, one belonging to SCP-XXXX-1 and the other three belonging to instances of SCP-XXXX-2.
An older man (SCP-XXXX-2-A), presumably one of the first to be affected, is striking the engine of SCP-XXXX-1's vehicle with a wrench. Two young men (SCP-XXXX-2-B) are hitting the vehicle at random with hockey sticks.
A middle-aged man and woman (identified as SCP-XXXX-1) are being physically assaulted by another couple (SCP-XXXX-2-C). Agent McKenna approaches. The attacking couple are heard speaking; "Don't worry, sir, we're almost done."
Agent McKenna attempts to order SCP-XXXX-2-C to back away from SCP-XXXX-1. The order is ignored. The SCP-XXXX-2 instances appear unaware of the existence of other individuals besides SCP-XXXX-1. Agent Mckenna manages to incapacitate SCP-XXXX-2-C using physical force.
As agent McKenna engages the other SCP-XXXX-2 instances, a new vehicle parks on the shoulder. The driver (SCP-XXXX-2-D) is heard asking; "What seems to be the issue? Anything I can do to help?", before firing a pistol at SCP-XXXX-1 from its window. Agent McKenna pushes SCP-XXXX-1 behind their car and returns fire.
Agent McKenna successfully terminates SCP-XXXX-2-D. At this moment, another vehicle driving at near maximum speed steers from the lane towards the vehicle of SCP-XXXX-1 and collides with it. The vehicle is launched into SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX-2-A, a member of SCP-XXXX-2-B and SCP-XXXX-2-C, killing them as a result. The other member of SCP-XXXX-2-B is severely wounded.
The driver of the vehicle (SCP-XXXX-2-E) remains unharmed. Afterwards, SCP-XXXX-2-E drives away and is heard shouting; "My pleasure! Have a nice day!". Agent McKenna calls for backup and shortly after, Foundation teams arrive.

Addendum XXXX-2: Interview log
Interviewed: Mr. ███████, formerly SCP-XXXX-2-E.
Interviewer: Dr. Wallace
Foreword: Mr. ███████, a 34 year old male, collided his vehicle with the the vehicle of the former SCP-XXXX-1, causing their deaths and the deaths of four other SCP-XXXX-2 individuals. Mr. ███████ was apprehended by Foundation staff shortly after the incident.
<Begin Log>
Dr. Wallace: Hello, Mr. ███████, I'm going to ask you some questions.
Mr. ███████: Sure, I'd like to know what's going on.
Dr. Wallace: Please tell me what happened today.
Mr. ███████: I was driving home from work like I do every day, and I suddenly notice that the front of my truck is completely busted. So, I stopped to take a look and that's when you people showed up.
Dr. Wallace: Do you have any idea what could have caused this?
Mr. ███████: No, I don't remember anything happening to it. I think I might've been in a car accident and hit my head, or something. I was hoping you could tell me.
Dr. Wallace: Do you remember what happened before that?
Mr. ███████: Before that? Well, there was a couple on the side of the road with car trouble and I stopped to help them out. That's it, really.
Dr. Wallace: Why did you feel like helping them out?
Mr. ███████: I don't know, I would normally have just drove past, but I just felt like helping them was what a good person would do, you know?
Dr. Wallace: What did you do to help them, exactly?
Mr. ███████: Oh, there was something wrong with their engine. I was able to fix it without too much trouble.
Dr. Wallace: Where they alone?Mr. ███████: Yeah.
At the time of the collision, five other SCP-4240-2 individuals and Agent McKenna were present. Dr. Wallace notes this inconsistency down.
Mr. ███████: What exactly does this have to do with my truck, though? And what are you writing?
Dr. Wallace: So, you didn't do anything to hurt those people?
Mr. ███████: What do you mean? Of course not.
Dr. Wallace: You don't remember crashing your vehicle into theirs?Mr. ███████: What? No!
Dr. Wallace: Okay, thank you, Mr. ███████, that should be enough questions for now.
Two guards enter the room to take Mr. ███████ to containment.
Mr. ███████: Hey, wait! What is this?
<End Log>
Addendum XXXX-3: Testing
Retrieved SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 instances were placed into containment for 1 month and were exposed to tests to determine if they still performed or attracted violent behaviour. The tests concluded that individuals that were exposed to SCP-XXXX are no longer considerate anomalous after the event took place. After amnestication, the individuals were released back into the public.
