Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept within a soundproofed room made of 20-centimeter thick steel, suspended between the floor and ceiling with 4 meters of clearance. The walls and ceiling are to be lined with open-cell rubber foam and the ground must be heavily carpeted to prevent sound from escaping the room. Anyone who listens to SCP-XXXX is to be given an immediate psychological evaluation.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an antique gramophone that, when used, induces hallucinations to the listener. SCP-XXXX is one of the first gramophones ever produced, dating back to 1892. The horn is composed of brass and the base of the object is composed of mahogany. On the left side of the base, there is a narrow compartment containing several records and 3 aged notes.

The subject of these hallucinations are dependent upon the song being played and the life experiences of the listener; these hallucinations affect all 5 senses. While they are not limited to a particular subject, they do tend to focus on the regrets of the listener, even if the song does not have a remorseful tone. These hallucinations have been seen to unnerve subjects (sometimes to the point of major, or in extreme cases, psychotic depression), especially those with a difficult past. Adversely, these hallucinations have also vastly improved the cooperation of some D-Class personnel, some stating that the music gave them 'a new outlook on life'. These subjects are to be closely monitored.
