SCP-451

Item #: 451

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
Due to the risk posed by a containment breach, all instances of SCP-451 are permanently contained in a formerly government owned space station orbiting the moon, designated "Talos-1". All instances of SCP-451-1, -4, and -5 are to be contained in specialized lead-lined containment tanks. SCP-451-2, -6 and onwards are to be contained in the already present microgravity chamber, designated "Kletka". A fully armed security team should be on standby at all times.

Personnel are advised to keep track of loose objects around them. All personnel should clearly state when they are moving or placing objects to any eventual coworkers. If any "undocumented" objects are seen, security must be called to perform a full sweep of the room. Faliure to do so is reprimandable.

Note: To fully utilize all space on Talos-1, it doubles as an R&D facility currently developing technology to help more effectively contain and test SCP-451. Use of said technology on other SCPs is pending evaluation.

Description:
SCP-451 is an alien species, nicknamed "Typhon", that is believed to have originated from some point in deep space. All SCP-451 subjects concist of a previously unencountered material, that appears "shimmering" and black, with hints of purple. This material has been found to be biological in nature, but attempts to ascertain other qualities of the material have proven inconclusive.

Autopsies reveal that no types of Typhon have a centralized nervous system or a standard metabolism of any kind (See SCP-451-1). Detailed descriptions of different types of Typhon can be found below.

Discovery:
SCP-451 was dicovered in 1961 by a 2-man team of cosmonauts attempting to repair the Vorona-1 satelite put into moon orbit by the soviet union, that had ceased operation some time prior. Video recordings showed that after removing a service pannel, they were attacked by at least 3 instances of SCP-451-1. The instances destroyed their helmets, and they quickly perished.

With help from the US, Kletka (russian for "cage") and eventually Talos-1 would be built arond Vorona-1 to contain SCP-451, authority of wich would eventually be passed onto the SCP Foundation.
