SCP-001 is both extremely special but also extremely unimportant in the grand scheme of things.
The O5's think they know what it is but then again so does the Administrator. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
In reality we cant afford to let them know, because it is a secret among us, us here in the foundation its only the biggest secret of the foundation because that is what the O5's want to make it seem like but in reality they do not know anything about it undoubtedly you've heard rumors.
yes Rumors that state that it is the reason that the foundation was founded.
but in truth you've also heard the stories that the O5's aren't allowed anywhere near SCP objects

And i will also bet that you hard Stories that I am on the Ethics Committee this is one rumor that is true, so you may ask me why i, Dr.Cimmerian, a member of the Ethics Committee is making claims about SCP-001. well it is quite simple really. only members of the Ethics committee are aloud to be Privy to the True Nature of SCP-001, if you remember correctly during your Orientation you were told that we are the secret power within the foundation, and that "We are the ones who balance the moral costs of everything the Foundation does. And in order to balance those costs, we must know those costs. Do you realize what that means, Doctor? It means that we know everything the Foundation does, has done, and will ever do. Everything that has ever been redacted or expunged, we know it. Every last detail." so it only stands to reason that we know what SCP-001 is, after all we have to, for if we did not then we wouldn't exist
its both the reason that the foundation was founded, as well as why we are not the same as the GOC.
but first I really must ask you something, call it a test if you will,
