All forms of online media must be screened through our established sound detection program which will flag instances of SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX is a melody, dubbed ‘Tommy’s Song’ upon its discovery, composed of 18 different notes of a specific frequency. The anonymous properties of SCP-XXXX was originally thought to be limited only to the cassette tape that gave way its discovery, but the song was eventually reproduced by sound technicians and it yielded the same properties.
SCP-XXXX has no direct effect on its listeners, however a link has been established between the clarity and frequency at which the listener subsequently recalls SCP-XXXX and the severity of its effect on the listener, with a somewhat directly proportional relationship. There are three components to SCP-XXXX’s effect, the specifics of which differ from person to person, but are consistent to individuals. These components have been labelled SCP-XXXXa, SCP-XXXXb and SCP-XXXXc.
• SCP-Xa appears as a naked humanoid entity that will appear at a distance of approximately 25m in a circumference around the subject after they have initially recalled SCP-X. The entity is completely motionless and will always have a majority of its face obscured by some means. Over 80% of test subjected effected were convinced that the entity appeared as someone they know or knew. It will always remain a certain distance from the subject. Attempts to move closer to the entity will result in the illusion of the entity moving away.
• SCP-Xb is an auditory stimulus that varies, but it is always unpleasant and/or abrasive. A common form of SCP-Xb described by subjects as that of a distressed infant’s cry. SCP-Xb will initially not emerge at constant rate, unlike SCP-Xa, but will emerge more frequently and at higher volumes the stronger the effect of SCP-X.
• SCP – Xc is an olfactory stimulus and much like SCP-Xb it varies and is unpleasant to the subject. This can be anything from the smell of decayed flesh, to the smell of bodily fluids and excrement like blood, faeces or vomit. SCP-Xc emerges much later, when SCP-Xa is much closer to the subject.
