Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be wrapped tightly by two lengths of rope and sealed within a .40m by .60m by .51m box. The lid of SCP-XXXX is never to be removed by non-D class personnel. Researchers exposed to SCP-XXXX may be given amnesiac medicine if requested.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an ornate silver platter .40m by .60m by .01m, with a design popular during the Victorian era. A .50m tall lid sits on top of the platter that, when lifted, will reveal the severed head of the subject who last thought of it, who will be referred to as SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-1 will have its head missing, corresponding to the head produced by SCP-XXXX. In the case that multiple subjects are thinking of SCP-XXXX at the same time, it seems to pick a subject at random.
Infra-red videos indicate that the head materializes at the moment approximately 30% of the circumference of the lid is removed from the platter. Human subjects do not need to be present to activate its affects. If SCP-XXXX-1 dies, the living subject who thought of it last will become SCP-XXXX-1. Its effective distance appears to be limitless as subjects in other dimensions have been affected.
If a subject has no head or has a head too large to fit within the dimensions of the lid, it will not become SCP-XXXX-1. If the lid has not been returned to the platter, it will return to its lidded state in 24 hours. When the lid materializes on the platter, any materials it would be covering disappear. It is unknown if the materials are destroyed or teleported elsewhere.
Addendum XXXX-1: Discovery
SCP-XXXX was discovered during an investigation of an abandoned Victorian-era house by Agent █████. After failed communication with the agent, a team was sent to investigate. SCP-XXXX was found in the dining hall along with the corpse of Agent █████, which was missing its head. The lid of SCP-XXXX was lifted in an attempt to recover Agent █████’s head, resulting in the death of Agent ██████. The head of Agent █████ has never been recovered.
Addendum XXXX-2: Incident XXXX-A
During an experiment where D-81728 stood on SCP-XXXX as it recovered its lid, [REDACTED] communication with D-81728 ceased. It is unknown if D-81728 is alive. If D-81728 is found, transfer it to Dr. Placeholder.
