Item #: SCP-(Huh, what?)

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-(Huh, what?) is contained in an enclosure with abiotic and biotic ecological components resembling those of Java and maintained at temperatures 26-28℃ with a humidity of 88%. SCP-(Huh, what?) is to be fed on a diet of various live fish, crustaceans, molluscs, birds, and small mammals native to its region on a daily basis. Level 2 security clearances are given to security officers and research personnel in order to eliminate instances of SCP-(Huh, what?)-1 while SCP-(Huh, what?) is temporarily anesthetized and relocated to Site-██. Janitorial personnel are to clear the enclosure of any traces of human presence or existence of SCP-(Huh, what?)-1 before SCP-(Huh, what?) is returned to its enclosure.

Description: SCP-(Huh, what?) is a humanoid entity resembling a woman of Indonesian descent with a height of 150 centimeters and weight of 46.7 kilograms. The entity is clothed in a white chador1 coated with plant mass, fungal matter, and sediment in order to camouflage with its environment. Although SCP-(Huh, what?) possesses no visible limbs or appendages, the entity can travel up to 30 kilometers per hour, often when in pursuit of prey or in defense of SCP-(Huh, what?)-1. SCP-(Huh, what?) demonstrates an acute vision ability while hunting despite displaying severe cataracts in both eyes. The entity also possesses a highly developed memory capacity, as it has been observed to detect minute changes in the positions of instances of SCP-(Huh, what?)-1 by mere centimeters. Upon detection of these changes, SCP-(Huh, what?) responds with violent, unintelligible vocalizations and becomes increasingly hostile for roughly two weeks. SCP-(Huh, what?) reacts similarly when it detects traces of human presence, such as footprints, fingerprints, and hair. When not hunting, SCP-(Huh, what?) often lays in a nest curled around SCP-(Huh, what?)-1. Research personnel have observed SCP-(Huh, what?) whispering to SCP-(Huh, what?)-1 in Javanese and Indonesian.

SCP-(Huh, what?)-1 is an egg that resembles that of the species Crocodylus porosus. SCP-(Huh, what?) produces about 40 to 60 instances of SCP-(Huh, what?)-1 each Islamic New Year. The production of instances of SCP-(Huh, what?)-1 is called a Muharram Event. Research personnel hypothesize that a Muharram Event is really a form of parthenogenesis, though others argue that it is a result of self-fertilization. The exact processes that cause a Muharram Event are unknown.

Further inspection of a brood of SCP-(Huh, what?)-1 reveals that each egg contains a living human embryo with an umbilical cord connected to a large yolk. DNA analysis on each embryo shows that each SCP-(Huh, what?)-1 is genetically unique despite potentially originating from asexual reproduction. Studies performed on SCP-(Huh, what?)-1 have shown no other anomalous properties.

SCP-(Huh, what?) also exhibits behavior identical to that of Muslim-identifying H. sapiens. SCP-(Huh, what?) is seen performing salat2, making dua3 in Classical Arabic, and fasting in the month of Ramadan. During Islamic holidays such as Eid, SCP-(Huh, what?) hunts more frequently and aggressively, usually amassing large piles of animal corpses that the entity consumes later in one sitting. SCP-(Huh, what?) can also be observed skinning mammals and plucking feathers off of birds to furnish its nest for SCP-(Huh, what?)-1 with its mouth which has overabundance of incisors and canines.

Discovery: In July 2006, a population belonging to a remote village in the ██████ District of East Java, Indonesia alerted officials of "multiple demons" possessing students of an Islamic high school. Field Agent Ratna Suwandi was assigned to investigate the incident. Field Agent Suwandi identified that the 23 students ranging in ages from 15 to 17 were suffering from severe non-epileptic convulsions and had ordered locals to stop their attempts at exorcising them.

Before medical help could arrive, the students began to remove their clothing, pile on top of each other, and coalesce into SCP-(Huh, what?)-0. SCP-(Huh, what?)-0 is a large, amorphous mass of human tissue covered with a series of limbs. SCP-(Huh, what?)-0 cohesively utilized the vocal cords of its substituent members to vocalize at about 100 decibels. Field Agent Suwandi led her team in firing at SCP-(Huh, what?)-0, but the entity appeared to be resistant. However, the loud gunfire did startle SCP-(Huh, what?)-0, and it frantically fled to various rooms inside the school in attempt to escape.

Field Agent Suwandi's team and the Mobile Task Force managed to remove the entity from the premises before it broke free from restraints and collapsed into a nearby river, where the entity quickly dissolved. SCP-(Huh, what?)-0 melted into a viscous, frothy liquid that diluted in the river's rapid current. Testing the affected areas of the dissolution have revealed no traces of SCP-(Huh, what?)-0. All villagers were administered Class C Amnestics and reports of the incident were erased from the media. The Foundation had the school demolished and replaced with a mosque to prevent suspicion.

Dr. Puja El-Amin was assigned to monitor the location and record any anomalous activity.

Attached is Dr. El-Amin's written observations of the location from July 2006 to December 2010.The observation log has been translated from Javanese.

August 2006 Two young female women are punished under suspicion of "witchcraft". A village leader dumps buckets of animal excrement on them and forces them to wash themselves in the same river where SCP-(Huh, what?)-0 had disappeared . When the women enter, they begin to dance as if they were ronggeng4. The villagers are initially confused by this strange behavior but find it entertaining, leading many to mock and mimic them. The two women recite poetry about how they will all return if they apologize. The performance lasts for about half an hour before both women suddenly faint. Upon regaining consciousness, both women display signs of retrograde amnesia. The women's poems were hard to understand and transcribe because I don't speak Bahasa Osing (I'm from Aceh), and neither do my fellow researchers. They were very pretty though. I still can remember some of the words. It's such a shame they can't remember them though. The words were haunting, deceptively beautiful. They made me almost forget what they were even about. But then again, I don't know who "they" are exactly. I'm not sure.
February 2007 An epidemic has plagued the entire village, though it targets almost a third of all men aged 25 to 65. Symptoms include lethargy, headaches, fever, coughing, and bleeding from the eyes and penis. Medical professionals struggle with diagnosis. In most cases, symptoms worsen until the victims die from organ failure. Some villagers have blamed the farmers on producing a bad crop while others still suspect witchcraft. Tension builds, and fights have become more prevalent. I feel so bad for the families. Every day I see them going to the mosque and praying for the sick men. Sometimes I pray with them too, but it feels different. My prayers feel hollow and cold, as if Allah (SWT) isn't even paying attention. I know my deen will be challenged in such difficult times, but I just have this bad feeling I can't explain.
March 2007 All of the men who had contracted the illness died this month. The village begins to segregate and villagers become distrusting of one another. Many families have barricaded themselves into their homes in fear of contracting the illness and out of distrust for other neighbors. Villagers limit their time outside to only travel to get basic necessities such as food, medicine, and water. Many villagers have grown more conservative in their beliefs. Village leaders strictly enforce Sharia Law. Any form of music and dance are forbidden. The two young women who were punished last year were banished from the village, and religious leaders are taking on a more prominent role in establishing societal norms. Women and girls now wear niqab and men and boys wear thobes. Gender segregation has intensified and members of the mosque show strong influences from Wahhabism in views and mannerisms. People pray six times a day now: Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Magrib, Esha, and Janazah. It breaks my heart to see so many tears shed and nothing getting any better. The villagers have started to act more aggressively toward me and the other researchers, so we maintain a distance now. The sheikh talks about the apocalypse so much now, it drives me crazy. I hate how he's fueling all these schemes and rumors about others when he quotes from the Qur'an. It's just making things worse. Whenever I see him, I feel sick like those men. And when I try to read Qur'an, I can't stop thinking about distrust and betrayal and all those things. There's not really much for me to do here. I feel lost and helpless.
June 2007 Spread of the disease has appeared to have stopped. Villagers are more willing to go outside more, but still show signs of suspicion and distrust of one another. There is an alarming increase in miscarriages and stillbirths. Some families have been caught and banished for leaving the village in order to visit dukun to improve fertility. The population of the village has shrunk by a half, from ███ to ███. Mosque attendance, however, has more than doubled. Depression and anxiety remains a growing problem in women. Suicide rates have increased steadily. I really wish I could just leave. The other researchers and I have started to lose meaning to why we're even here. I feel like I can tell what's going to happen. They're all just going to die here. I'm documenting nothing of use to the Foundation. We're all like tumors here. We just take up space and do nothing. I want to leave. Why am I here?
August 2007 After a two day period of catatonia, one villager, a 35 year old male named ██████ ████████████, removed his clothing, walked to the center of the village, and shouted incoherently. The frightened villagers formed a mob around him and assaulted him. ██████ ████████████ was stoned, beaten with sticks, and dragged until he was thrown into the river. A bystander claims he last thing heard from the victim was "█████." No comment entry was written.
December 2007 [DATA EXPUNGED] Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, how could you allow this to happen? What test are you trying to give us? What do you mean by these dreams? I keep having these dreams like the rest of the villagers. I keep seeing the crocodile in my dreams and it's horrible and wonderful at the same time. I'm scared at why I feel so amazed by it. I am losing my mind. I keep praying and praying every day for something to make sense. But I don't know anymore. I don't think I can know anything anymore. These people are savages.
April 2008 [DATA EXPUNGED] They're ready for it to come. Everyone is. We've all been so horrible to each other, but we can start all over. I cut off some of my hair and put it into the river. It was funny seeing it dance away in the water like the ronggeng. I felt so much freer. I could breathe. In sha Allah, I will be anew.
November 2009 The village celebrates Eid. The men, women, and children are all in good health. Alhamdulillah! I had so much fun today! It was nice taking a break from focusing on all the work we had to do, but we will be rewarded! I can feel Allah (SWT) smiling down at us all today. We've been good. So good. I'm so happy!
December 2009 [DATA EXPUNGED] We're making a sacrifice here. We'll be coming back to help others on Earth like angels. Jannah is for the lazy. We're still here to work.
June 2010 A female humanoid entity with highly memetic properties has entered the village, attracting research personnel and civilians. The entity appears to have wrapped the remaining ███ members of the population, including research personnel, collectively in a white sheet. The Mobile Task Force has been unable to release them. Tearing at the cloth only reveals another layer. The ground surrounding it has proven to be impenetrable, even with the usage of explosives. The entity poses no apparent risks toward personnel. Field Agent Ratna Suwandi here, continuing Dr. Puja El-Amin's observation log. [DATA EXPUNGED]. La hawla wala quwwata illa billah5. My apologies to everyone in the Foundation.
