Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be housed in the office of Dr. ███████ in Site 19. It is to be played once per day to ensure that all parts are working.

SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a storage locker with a security card-reader that only accepts Level 4 identification in Site-45.

Following Incident XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX is to be stored at Area-32 in a soundproofed box 5x5x5 meters in volume, with a microphone connected to a screen that visualizes the waveform of the sound. Due to the nature of SCP-XXXX, this waveform should completely fill the screen. A pair of headphones are to be inside of the box at all times. Neither SCP-XXXX nor the headphones are to be removed from this box at any time., and all staff in Area-32 are to wear protective gear when accessing SCP-XXXX. If SCP-XXXX's waveform visualizer goes blank, it is to be reported to an onsite staff member with Level 4 clearance, who will then contact the Overseer Council. SCP-079 is not to be allowed access to SCP-XXXX informed of SCP-XXXX's existence.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a Stradivarius violin, discovered during an MTF Raid. The instrument is largely regular, with the exception of one knob located on the body of the instrument labeled 'Volume' and a switch with no label located under the instrument. the effect of this switch are currently unknown, and efforts are being made to discover it's purpose.¹ The primary anomalous effect of SCP-XXXX is when the volume knob is turned, SCP-XXXX is incapable of producing sounds that are not of the volume it was set to. This effect is considered memetic in nature, as a person who plays the instrument will be unable to play it at any volume except for what the knob is currently set to.

The knob increases at a 1:1 ratio with the volume of the instrument, and it is believed that the knob does not have a theoretical end and can be increased to volumes that would be considered hazardous to living beings.²

Addendum 1: Following the events of Incident XXXX-1, the switch on the body of SCP-XXXX has been named SCP-XXXX-1, and the phenomenon it activates has been named SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX is now believed to be a terrorist device. SCP-XXXX-2 is a phenomenon in which a sonic pulse of random cacophony is sent from SCP-XXXX. The volume of SCP-XXXX-2 is believed to be controlled by a volume knob on SCP-XXXX-1. A secondary effect of SCP-XXXX-2 is the transmission of itself through the closest audio mechanism it can transmit to. Due to the fact that SCP-XXXX-1 has not been disabled, SCP-XXXX-2 has been occuring since [REDACTED].

Incident XXXX-1: During a Site-19 containment breach, the switch on SCP-XXXX was flipped by a member of D-Class personnel. The effect of this was that a major sonic pulse was expelled from the instrument, which caused $██████ in property damages and nearly constituted an informational breach.

S.D Samuel: Elaborate.
S.R Trisha: During the event with SCP-XXXX?
S.D Samuel: Oh, of course. Well we were having an outbreak with ████-
S.R Trisha: ████?
S.D Samuel: Sorry, SCP-████. So, we were having the outbreak with SCP-████ when a D-Class walks into Dr. █████'s office and flips the switch on the skip. I'm not quite sure how to describe what happened when he did.
S.R Trisha: Go on. Take your time.
[Site Director Samuel pauses for 10 seconds]
S.D Samuel: The only way I could describe it is every sound that has ever been made and ever will be made was made at once. It was an absolute nightmare. Most of our men went deaf and the building was almost flattened. It was madness. It probably would have been less of an issue, had it not been transmitted through the site intercom. We aren't even sure how it got into the intercom. It's a good thing that the volume was set relatively low.

S.R Trisha: I understand.
S.D Samuel: Consider this my official petition to the 05 that we move the skip down to Site-45. We can't let this happen again.
S.R Trisha: I'll see what I can do.
