item #: SCP-xxxx
Object class: Euclid

Containment procedures: Due to the nature of SCP-xxxx only a few instances are currently contained. All instances discovered of SCP-xxxx are to be placed inside a lockbox and held in a high-security locker only accessible by level 3+ personnel, any instances of SCP-xxxx discovered are to be marked with the appropriate letter corresponding with the order in which they were discovered e.g SCP-xxxx-a. Under no circumstances are the tapes to be viewed by anyone outside of approved testing.

Any subjects under the influence of SCP-XXXX captured are to be designated SCP-xxxx-1, and detained in a standard D-class cell. If there is more than one subject held within the facility the affix of a letter corresponding to the order in which they were attained is to be utilised in their designation e.g SCP-xxxx-1a.

Description: SCP-xxxx are unmarked anomalous copies of the 1935 animation "Parrotvile post office" in VHS format that when in close proximity will cause an intense compulsion view it, upon viewing it the affected enter an altered state of mind in which they will seek out the nearest post office and attempt to steal anything they perceive to be of value.

If there is no post office with in a reasonable distance the subject will enter a state of elevated distress attacking anyone around them who is not under the effects of SCP-xxxx with their nails, teeth, appendages or any melee weapon they can gain access to through reasonable means.

If there are no lifeforms or post office in close proximity to the subject they will become actively suicidal and seek out any way of ending their own life.

It should also be noted that the anomalous properties of the tape only affects those in the standard way with a below average MARS (mind altering resistance score). Those with an average or above average MARS will instead seek out other humans in their approximate area (observed to be within a range of 10 miles) and attempt to force them to watch the anomalous VHS tape, they have not been observed to be violent but will attempt to incapacitate their victim if they attempt to resist by restraining them until they tire enough that they provide no resistance or until another instance of SCP-XXXX-1 comes to their aid.

So far neither amnestics nor memetic memory loss agents have been proven to have any effect on SCP-xxxx-1 and the only permanent solution is termination.

Any attempts at communication with those affected has proven ineffective as they seem to only be capable of communicating through lines quoted from the animation.

Addendum xxxx.1: Discovery
SCP-xxxx was discovered in a farm house on the outskirts of [Data Expunged], Richmond County, Georgia when a series of small-scale robberies had been reported across the county, local law enforcement agencies contacted the foundation after a small cult-like group were found kidnapping travellers and forcing them to watch the tape, all those who were present were taken into foundation custody alongside SCP-xxxx.

Currently there are 12 instances of SCP-xxxx in foundation custody, the locations of their discovery are as follows:

[Data Expunged], Richmond County, Georgia, USA. [Redacted] instances of SCP-XXXX-1 found with it.

[Data Expunged], West Siberian plane, Russia. Three instances of SCP-xxxx discovered and [Redacted] instances of SCP-XXXX-1, five of whom were taken into foundation custody.

[Data Expunged], North Ayrshire, Scotland. Only a single instance of SCP-XXXX-1 was found, subject was hostile; terminated on sight.

[Data Expunged], Bavaria, Germany. Two instances of SCP-XXXX-1 dead on arrival.

[Data Expunged], Lorian county, Ohio, USA. Five instances of SCP-XXXX-1 were found with a sixth one in the process of being converted. Two members of the MTF unit [Redacted] were affected and subsequently terminated along with all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 present.

[Data Expunged], Qinghai, China. Two instances of SCP-xxxx discovered with 4 instances of SCP-XXXX-1 found at both, several SCP-XXXX-1 also found dead in varying stages of decomposition at both locations.

[Data Expunged under order of the 05 Council and the “ethics committee”]

[Data Expunged], Greater Manchester area, England. A single instance of SCP-XXXX-1 was found in an elevated level of distress attempting to gnaw its own wrists.

[Data Expunged], Chad, Africa. [Redacted] instances of SCP-XXXX-1 found, MTF squad was overwhelmed; reinforcements were sent in but it was too late. All instances of SCP-XXXX-1 terminated at range via high calibre sniper rifles.

Addendum xxxx.2: Termination attempts

Numerous attempts made at the destruction of a single instance of SCP-xxxx but to no avail, SCP-xxxx appears to consist of ordinary anomalous plastic but all attempts made at damaging SCP-xxxx have proven ineffective.

The full list of attempted destructions are as follows:

D-class attempted to snap SCP-xxxx. Result: ineffective.

D-class attempted smashing SCP-xxxx with a 25kgs sledgehammer. Result: ineffective.

MTF unit APC driven directly over SCP-xxxx. Result: ineffective.
The tape of SCP-xxxx burned with a cigarette lighter. Result: ineffective.

SCP-xxxx thrown off of the roof of the facility. Result: ineffective

SCP-xxxx submerged for 48 hours in hydrochloric acid. Result: ineffective

SCP-xxxx submerged in liquid nitrogen for 24 hours and hit repetitively with a 25kgs sledgehammer. Result: ineffective.

SCP-xxxx exposed to 4500kgs of pressure from a pneumatic press. Result: ineffective.

SCP-xxxx exposed to temperatures exceeding 500°C. Result: ineffective.

Following a site-wide contaiment breach the on-site alpha warhead was detonated, recovery teams discovered SCP-xxxx still fully intact. Result: ineffective.
(Further testing to the destruction of SCP-xxxx has been put on hold for the foreseeable future)

SCP-xxx-1 however can be terminated in any way that would work on a standard human.

Addendum xxxx.3: interview logs

Following the events of the 10th discovery of an instance of SCP-xxxx the MTF squad involved were assessed for signs of mental trauma and offered amnestics, this interview is of one of the MTF agents and the squad commander who’s identites will not be disclosed to prevent possible re-emergenceses of their amnestisised memories.

(The following interview requires level 4 clearance to access)

Interviewed: MTF agent and MTF squad commander

Interviewer: Researcher O’Connel

[Begin log]

Researcher O'Connel: (clears his throat whilst straightening his documents) Hello agent [Redacted], I’m sure you know why you have been called here today.

MTF agent: (appears distant, waiting a few moments before responding) yes, yes I do.

Researcher O’Connel: Very good, you don’t seem to be in the best of states. Is there anything we can do to make you more comfortable during this interview?.

MTF agent: (takes a moment to think) no, i doubt even SCP-999 would be of any help. But maybe a hug? I know it seems childish but. (he begins to tear up slightly)

(The two embrace for a minute)

Researcher O’Connel: now not to be rude but we really must be getting on with the interview. Can you tell me what happend that day?.

MTF agent: (takes a moment to regain their composure) We were sent out to investigate an instance of SCP-xxxx, business as usual right? That’s what my squad do.

Researcher O’Connel: (taking notes) continue.

MTF agent: But they wouldn’t tell us where we were going only the grid reference for the map. We got there and it was a FUCKING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. (he slams his fist into the desk, clearly still shaken up by the situation)

Researcher O’Connel: That sounds awful, I can’t imagine what that must have been like to go through.

MTF agent: Thats not even the worst part, when we got inside the school….(he appears distant for an extended period of time)

Researcher O’Connel: Agent [Redacted]? (He clicks his fingers in an attempt to get his attention] agent [Redacted] can you hear me?

(The MTF agent falls onto the floor in the fetal position and begins screaming and sobbing loudly)

(At this point he was removed from the interview chamber and the squad commander was brought in)

Researcher O’Connel: Hello Squad commander [Redacted] i assume you know why you’ve been brought here today?

MTF commander: I am fully aware.

Researcher O’Connel: Ok. Let’s just get right into it then, with the previous agent we interviewed we got up the point of your squad entering the school building. So if you could please continue from there that would be great.

MTF commander: It was awful, the smell was the first thing to hit us. There must have been at least a hundred corpses, and the blood, there was blood everywhere.

Researcher O’Connel: (gagging sightly) that sounds horrible.

MTF commander: you think that just from hearing about it? Imagine actually being there. We made our way further into the school past the dorms to the assembly hall and that’s where it happened.

Researcher O’Connel: so it was a boarding school, that wasn’t on the records thank you for that information, can you tell me what happend when you entered the assembly hall?

MTF commander: There must have been atleast forty of them all coverd in the blood of their classmates and teachers, some of them even eating the bodies. They all looked at us with their innocent expressions like they’d done nothing wrong.

Researcher O’Connel: (visibly shaken from the description still taking notes) please continue if you can.

MTF commander: I’ll try, is it ok if I stand outside for a few minutes?

Researcher O’Connel: Thats perfectly acceptable, its almost lunch break anyway we can continue this after.

(They both exit the interview chamber for their lunch break returning shortly after)

Researcher O’Connel: Ok squad commander [Redacted], now that you’ve had a break do you feel you are able to continue?

MTF commander: Yes, Yes I think so.

Researcher O’Connel: Whenever you’re ready, we were at the part where your squad entered the assembly hall and found several juvenile instances of SCP-XXXX-1.

MTF commander: (his posture stiffens at the mention of the incident) They all just stopped what they were doing and looked at us, several of them started screaming and the others began approaching us. We assumed they were going to attempt to force us to watch SCP-XXXX, and the others seemed they were going to attack.

Researcher O’Connel: I think I see where this is going, its understandable why you and your squad were so shaken up by it.

MTF commander: We…We had no choice, I gave the order to open fire. They trained us for every possibility but nothing can prepare you for that (he begins to softly sob). Two members of my team they….they couldn’t handle it they…took their own lifes after all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 were terminated.

Researcher O’Connel: Ok, that will suffice. You and your squad can have amnestics now if you wish. Do you have anything else you'd like to say on record?

MTF commander: No, I don't. That would be appreciated, thank you Researcher O’Connel.

(End log)

(All involved in the incident and subsequent interview were administered class-A amnestics)
