Item #: SCP-7286
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-7268-1 is to be kept in a windowless room with a clear floor space of at least ten (10) meters. Two circles have been drawn around SCP-7286-1, one with a radius of three (3) meters, and one with a radius of one (1) meter. SCP-7286-1B is to be placed in a small alcove inside the room. ALL personnel entering the containment room must be accompanied by at least one trained guard. At least one doctor of outside personnel will be notified prior to any and all entries.
Description: SCP-7286, Maker of Kings, consists of a pair of heavy iron shackles; referred to as SCP-7286-1; and a note. Each shackle is approximately four (4) centimeters in diameter, and the chain connecting it is ten (10) inches. SCP-7286-1B refers to a dirty one/fourth (¼) sheet of printer paper with torn edges and a drop of [REDACTED] in the center. In hurried, messy scrawl, the words “If thou art a king, thou shalt fear no [DATA EXPUNGED],” are written on the paper. SCP-7286-1B displays no anomalous properties.
SCP-7268-1 remains in a dormant, nonmoving state until a human comes within three (3) meters of any part of it. Once a human crosses this perimeter, SCP-7286 begins to manifest several anomalous properties. The human that has entered the three (3) meter perimeter can henceforth be referred to as SCP-7286-2. From the point SCP-7286-2 is ‘created,’ SCP-7286-1 will begin to rattle quietly through some unknown means. The volume and intensity of SCP-7286-1’s rattling have been observed to increase inversely to its distance to SCP-7286-2. If SCP-7286-2 becomes closer than one (1) meter to SCP-7286-1, SCP-7286-2 will be compelled to put the shackles on their wrists.
Once the shackles are secured around the wrists by SCP-7286-1, if no attempts to interfere are made within thirty (30) seconds, an anomalous event will begin. Attempts to persuade SCP-7286-2 to remove the shackles or exit the area of SCP-7286-1’s effects have proved futile, and use of force caused SCP-7286-2 to [REDACTED], leaving three (3) agents with minor injuries, and several D-class personnel [DATA EXPUNGED].
SCP-7286-1 will begin an anomalous event, in which one of two outcomes will occur. In outcome one (1) SCP-7286-2 will begin to spasm uncontrollably, and SCP-7286-1 will fall off SCP-7286-2’s wrists. Approximately 95% of D-class personnel used for testing received this outcome, becoming emotionally and mentally unstable. Any attempts to interrogate them yields only untranslatable ramblings, and the sentence: “…I am not a king…” All instances of SCP-7286-2 who receive this outcome attempted suicide, and if restrained, self-harm to the point of death. Instances of SCP-7286-2 that receive this outcome are referred to as SCP-7286-2A.
In approximately 5% of cases, SCP-7286-1 will begin to glow brightly, and a tattoo will begin to form on SCP-7286-2’s right pectoral. All clothes will disintegrate around the area of the tattoo as it forms. The image of the tattoo appears to be golden in color and takes the shape of an ornate crown adorned with jewels. Further testing in the lab has confirmed the ‘ink’ used for the tattoo to be that of pure twenty-four (24) karat gold. These instances are referred to as SCP-7286-2B.
The tattoo manifests only one anomalous property, the ability to freely manipulate the actions of any instance of SCP-7286-2A. This control is extremely powerful, causing the affected to neglect their own health and well-being for the trivial needs of their ‘master. When asked why they are treating failed instances of SCP-7286-2A as slaves, they simply respond: “I am a king, they are my servants.”
History: SCP-7286-1 was discovered in an abandoned factory after reports of ‘mass mind control.’ SCP-7286-1B was found underneath SCP-7286-1.
Addendum: Attempted removal of the crown tattoo results in the ‘king’ instance of SCP-7286-2 and all ‘slave’ instances of SCP-7286-2 becoming [DATA EXPUNGED], causing all aggressors to be immediately, and fatally wounded.
The drop stain on SCP-7286-1B has been identified as human blood, but simultaneously matches multiple people’s DNA. It is of note, that all DNA matches except for three (3), have been D-class personnel that has undergone the SCP-7286-1’s ‘judgement.’
When an instance of SCP-7286-2 has any link to royalty, the outcome has been observed to be 100% 'slave'. The test group for this is still quite small, which may mean inconclusive data.
It is worth noting that of the current number of kings, approximately 50% do not treat their ‘slaves’ as worth less than themselves. All do, however, take part in manipulating them against their will. It is also of note that all instances of SCP-7286-2B in the category were morally sound before the experiment, and showed higher altruism than their ‘slaves.’
D-2187, an instance of SCP-7286, was interrogated; she stated that “…I was a king, but it changes its mind…” D-2187 was recovered from the test chamber with a bleeding wound in the shape of a crown on her right breast, with no tattoo present. This could be valid data to classify SCP-7286 as ‘sentient,’ but in inconclusive due to D-2187’s history of schizophrenia, and hallucinogenic behavior in the past.
Item #: SCP-5405
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5405 is to be put inside a room with a floor covered in a minimum three (3) centimeter thick layer of only its own ash. No personnel is to be allowed inside without proper safety precautions(possible thin coating of SCP-5405's ashes). No openly circulating drafts or breezes are to be allowed within the chamber, due to the possibility of the ashes on the floor scattering. SCP-5405 is to be made a comfortable as possible despite its condition. At least once per day, a doctor or some member of an agent will converse with SCP-5405. We do not want to anger SCP-5405, in which case it could actively attempt to [DATA EXPUNGED] leading to the destruction of the facility. Due to this threat, SCP-5405's personal nickname 'Ash' should be used to refer to SCP-5405 while within earshot.
Description: SCP-5405, To Ashes, is a 7-foot tall humanoid entity, with the appearance of an adult male human. The being’s skin is an ashen gray, and its hair is completely black. SCP-5405’s fingernails and toenails are also black. SCP-5405’s scleras are the same ashen color, its irises are black; and its pupils are gold-colored, the only part of the body with colored pigment.
When SCP-5405 comes into contact with any object, it is instantly transmuted into ashes equivalent to its original mass through unknown means. This effect is classified as ‘anomalous,’ because the ashes have been tested and confirmed to be that of maple wood. It is to be noted that this effect does not exclude [REDACTED]. This effect does not exclude humans, but SCP-5405 attempts to resist contact with them in most cases.
SCP-5405 is capable of speech and has voiced its contempt for itself multiple times. When forced to use its anomalous effect on living objects, SCP-5405 becomes [DATA EXPUNGED]. It has shown high intelligence, and has suggested a name for itself: ‘Ash.’
SCP-5405 is near impossible to contain because any type of restraint fails to secure it, and walls are not excluded from his effect. In a similar way, floors and ceiling are subject to ‘ashification.’ Ashes already created by SCP-5405 will prevent and surface they rest on to be immune to its effect. Research into possible protective clothing for SCP-5405 is underway.
SCP-5405 neither eats nor drinks and does not seem to gain any nutritional value when forced. It does not sleep, but will sometimes meditate silently for hours at a time for an unexplainable reason. When asked about these things it simply responds, “I don’t know.”
History: It was discovered in an abandoned building containing only large piles of ashes. SCP-5405 has been questioned about its history, and the log of an interview is transcribed below.
Interviewed: SCP-5405
Interviewer: Dr. ████
Foreword: A breif questioning of SCP-5405's history.
<[Begin Log]>
Dr. ████: ["SCP-5405, are you ready to answer some questions?"]
SCP-5405: ["Yes."]
Dr. ████: ["Where are you from?"]
SCP-5405: ["I do not know."]
Dr. ████: ["Who created you?"]
SCP-5405: ["All to ashes."]
Dr. ████: ["What did you just say?"]
SCP-5405: ["I do not know."]
Dr. ████: ["Do you like turning objects into ashes?"]
SCP-5405: ["Sometimes."]
Dr. ████: ["Do you enjoy turning humans into ashes?"]
SCP-5405: ["I do not think so."]
Dr. ████: ["Why is that?"]
SCP-5405: ["I do not know."]
Dr. ████: ["That is all."]
SCP-5405: ["…"]
<End Log>
Closing Statement: [It can be conferred from this interview that SCP-5405 does not know very much about its past or current condition.]]
Addendum: When SCP-5405’s effect is applied to ashes, in all recorded cases, they have become maple wood ashes. Testing with {REDACTED] yields the same results.
At random times during conversations, SCP-5405 will answer a question simply with the phrase: “All to ashes.” It is unknown why it says this, and when asked, SCP-5405 states it “Doesn’t know.”
Any object covered in a thin layer of ashes created by SCP-5405 has proven to be invulnerable to SCP-5405's anomalous effect.
[Test A
Subject: SCP-5405
Procedure: SCP-5405, inside its containment chamber, is subjected to multiple forms of physical harm. These include Shotgun, Rifle, Incendiary Grenade, Impact Grenade.
Results: When subjected to bullets from any firearm, the bullet will pass through SCP-5405, but only small amounts of ash flew from the exit hole, and it shows no pain response. It is to be of note that no bullets were recovered. Impacts from the grenades cause SCP-5405 to be moves backward from the force, but once again, no injuries and the shrapnel becomes ash.
Analysis: SCP-5405 seems either to be impervious to projectile damage, as holes open up on its body where impacted, but no permanent damage dealt. Explosions seem to have especially low effectiveness]
[Test B
Subject: D-2294
Procedure: D-2294 has been covered from head to toe in a light coating of SCP-5405’s ashes. D-2294 entered SCP-5405’s chamber and shook its hand before conversing. D-2294 does not begin to transform into ashes. D-2294 is then instructed to act aggressive to SCP-5405, and to attempt physical violence. SCP-5405 attempts to reason logically with D-2294, and seems reluctant to fight back. D-2294 begins punching and kicking SCP-5405, which causes no damage. It is to be of note that SCP-5405 has gone out of its way at this point to avoid the conflict.
Results: SCP-5405 begins to rub D-2294’s face with its palms. SCP-5405 says: “I’m sorry for this,” and touches the exposed flesh of D-2294. D-2294’s body rapidly begins to transform into ashes, starting at the point of contact. SCP-5405 looks directly at the doctor in charge of the experiment sorrowfully, and regretfully states: “All to ashes.”
Analysis: This test confirms SCP-5405’s unwillingness to use its anomalous effect on human beings.]
