Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
Containment procedures have been updated after incident I-XXXX-17

A 250m circular asphalt racetrack is to be maintained in performance condition in the remote foot hills of [REDACTED], CA. This track is to be kept isolated and not connected to any external asphalt roads type of road, path, or trail.

An exclusion zone will be setup establishing a 2K perimeter around the site to exclude any unauthorized persons from entering the site.

On site facilities will host a security team whose duty will be to enforce the exclusion zone.

Additional procedures added after incident I-XXXX-17

A green zone will be setup establishing a 100m perimeter around the track. This zone is to be completely covered in AstroTurf. The surface of the green zone is to be inspected daily. Any damage or wear patterns on the surface are to be repaired immediately. To prevent an repeat of I-XXXX-17, the interior of the green zone adjacent to the asphalt surface of the track is to be lined with anti-tank mines calibrated to detonate at 100 kg of pressure. All personnel before assignment will be weighed to ensure accidents to not occur. On site personnel are to be reminded to be aware of any fluctuations in their weight.

A fixed tower crane has be built on site in the green zone.

Any terrestrial vehicles used in experiments with SCP-XXXX, must be lifted onto the track by the onsite crane. Under no circumstances are the vehicles to be driven onto the track. Remains of vehicles will have to be removed by hand or the onsite crane.

All non-experimental on site terrestrial vehicles are to remain outside the green zone at all times.

Description:
SCP-XXXX has two states of existence, hereafter referred to as predatory mode and non-predatory mode.

When SCP-XXXX is in a non-predatory mode it's being is completely subsumed into the surface of the road it is traveling on. SCP-XXXX appears to travel through the materials of the road as if through a liquid medium. In this state it is undetectable by visual or auditory means. Experiments upon SCP-XXXX have determined it's passage gives off micro-tremors which can be detected by seismic equipment. Unfortunately, use of this method to track SCP-XXXX would be difficult to implement due to vibrations of common terrestrial vehicles on frequently used roads masking the micro-tremors.

When in pursuit of a vehicle SCP-XXXX enters predatory mode. In this mode SCP-XXXX appears as a non-cresting wave consisting of the materials of the road it is traveling upon. This swelling of material will typically reach a height of 50 cm above the road's surface at it's apex.

When in pursuit of a prey vehicle, SCP-XXXX will move directly behind the vehicle and attempt to over take the vehicle. If SCP-XXXX catches up to its prey it will flow under the vehicle and get in front it by approximately 1m. At this point SCP-XXXX's form will elongate into a pillar approximately 7 cm in diameter, with a height equaling half the prey vehicle's profile. SCP-XXXX will then abruptly cease all movement and slam into the prey vehicle. After SCP-XXXX has successfully collided with the prey vehicle it will enter non-predatory mode and move away.

The frequency of predatory mode incidents appear to be linked to the force of impacts occurring at the end of successful predatory mode occurrences. See Dr. Mayrond's notes on experiment log x.
