Description: SCP-4XXX is the given designation for SCP-4XXX-1 through SCP-4XXX-3, a series of anomalous books signed by the pen name Justin Esclave. The effects of SCP-4XXX remain uncertain and results vary wildly. Due to this unprofessional nature of SCP-4XXX, SCP-4XXX-1 through SCP-4XXX-3 are believed to be manmade, most likely by the entity Justin Esclave.
SCP-4XXX-1 is a 2018 Winter edition of the Old Farmer’s Almanac, with the title obscured with ink.
SCP-4XXX-1 constantly rewrites itself to portray complete meteorological accuracy within a two-day time period. On the inner cover is written “Esclave’s Almanac” in elaborate script. Any text that predicts weather farther than two days in the future remains unchanged from the original text. All articles that portray any sense of untruth are removed or rewritten.
Any attempts to write on the pages of SCP-4XXX-1 with inorganic liquids have been met with little to no efforts. Any substance that makes contact with SCP-4XXX-1 “slides” off. Any substance applied to unchanged text does mark the pages but disappears during the two-day time range. During testing, human blood unintentionally made contact with the pages of SCP-4XXX-1, causing about [REDACTED] by exsanguination, however [REDACTED], but not more than two weeks. Human testing on SCP-4XXX-1 has been indefinitely suspended.
SCP-4XXX-1 was discovered on the shore of Lake Michigan. No water damage has been detected, and Agent Spear’s discovery report claimed that the object was dry upon discovery.
At the time of acquisition, Document SCP-4XXX-a was found between the front cover and the first page.
SCP-4XXX-2 is a blank canvas-bound book, consisting of twenty pages. Anything portrayed1 on the inside of SCP-4XXX-2 will be completely comprehended by any readers at a minimum of a basic level, which may vary depending on the complexity of the portrayal. The front cover of SCP-4XXX-2 is blank, save for the signature of Justin Esclave written on the bottom right corner.
When illegible writing is entered into SCP-4XXX-2, persons who interact with the writing may slowly lose the ability to read, write, or speak over time. Although rare, some tests have resulted in persons losing all linguistic ability but gaining the ability to communicate with gallus gallus domesticus2. The adjoining of human blood with the pages of SCP-4XXX-2 yielded similar results as SCP-4XXX-1.
SCP-4XXX-3 is the entire transcript of "█████████ Civil War History" hand-copied into a canvas-bound leather book. When read, SCP-4XXX-3 causes readers to enter a catatonic state, during which one will hallucinate vividly the events of the Battle of Hampton Roads, an event that lasts approximately four hours and thirty-one minutes. After this time period, any subjects under the influence will either enter a permanent catatonic state or will become [REDACTED] causing great damage to their surroundings in an attempt to construct an ████████ and are to be terminated.
Closing SCP-4XXX-3 was thought to negate the lethal effects until D-19820 caused a containment breach while collecting "materials" by ripping plates of iron off of walls with her bare hands.
Any interaction with the text contained within SCP-4XXX-3 has resulted, directly or indirectly, with the deaths of all persons involved. Human testing on SCP-4XXX-3 has been indefinitely suspended.
On the front cover of SCP-4XXX-3 is a crudely drawn sailboat with "S.S. Esclave" written on the hull.
Efforts to locate Justin Esclave has been unsuccessful thus far and is believed to be a nom de plume.
Agent Spear, who discovered SCP-4XXX-1 has been put in charge of operations to uncover more anomalous items that may have been created by persons under the name of Justin Esclave.
