Item #: SCP-5713

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Due to SCP-5713’s extraterrestrial nature, it is currently not possible to contain. The only way to observe SCP-5713 is with a high powered multi-directional telescope, which is currently housed on Site-76. SCP-5713 is to be kept under constant surveillance by at least three Research personnel at all times. Each personnel is to be shifted every 5 hours to ensure consistent surveillance of SCP-5713. At the end of each month, a new set of researchers is to be rotated. To ensure that any non-personnel are unaware of its existence; amnestic agents are in place.

Description: SCP-5713 is an exoplanet located approximately 45 million lightyears away from the Milky Way Galaxy. It has a radius of around 2.467*10^18 kilometers, making it take up about the same angular size as the moon. It has a rotational period of around 1.637 million years, causing the surface to move at the speed of light relative to earth. This would suggest that time is not passing on the surface of SCP-5713. Because of the apparent lack of gravitational pull, the mass is currently not determined, but it is estimated at about 3.0028763*10^67 kilograms based on the volume and the average density of rock. Fortunately, due to the fact that it is made out of a material that is very absorbent to every frequency on the electromagnetic spectrum, SCP-5713 is not visible to any equipment that is publicly accessible. The terrain has been observed to be flat and desert-like with small mountains scattered relatively evenly. SCP-5713 has no known moons, accompanying exoplanets, or stars.

SCP-5713 was discovered by Dr. ████ ███████ on August 13th, 2007 in Site-76, initially, it was not reported to 0-5 Command until Dr. started to observe anomalous effects. No life has been detected thus far but strange symbols line the equator, suggesting that intelligent life exists there. The symbols do not appear to match any known human language, but they do have a frequency consistent with Zipf’s law. Most researchers have noted they resemble crop circles or Native American Medicine Wheels. It is unknown what material the symbols are made of or if they are carved into the surface. Due to SCP-5713’s substantial size, the speed at which observation takes place is very slow. As a result, new symbols are documented periodically. Parts of the surface have been split into sectors for research purposes.
