Item #: SCP-4285
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4285 is to be kept in a secure storage unit at Site-15 when not in use. SCP-4285 has been transferred to Site-01.
Description: SCP-4285 is a an HP brand laptop running a linux OS used by the Foundation. It comes pre-installed with the standard Foundation software suite which includes access to the SCP database. While the software functions like that of any Foundation issued laptop, including checks for security clearance level of the user, it also gives the user the ability to delete entries in the database regardless of their security level. Selecting this option does not alter the database used by the Foundation but results in anomalous effects on the user (see Test Logs SCP-4285-A) as well as removing the entry from the laptop software.
Addendum4285-01
SCP-4285 had been assigned through normal means to a researcher at Site-15, who upon discovering the database editing option reported to his superiors that he had accidentally been given administrative access. Before on-site security had managed to retrieve the laptop the researcher had used the software to delete an entry for SCP-███. When this was discovered by on-site security who inquired why he had deleted the entry, the research assistant answered that he had no idea what entry they were referring to. Further investigation showed that the entry had not actually been deleted from the SCP database, but that it had been deleted from the database accessed by SCP-4285, with the researcher having no memory of deleting the entry nor any memory pertaining to the SCP-███.

Dr. █████ has tested…
Basically, it's a laptop that switches you with a version of you from a universe that doesn't have the SCP you delete from the database - which is over-time getting smaller and smaller until you end up with a universe which has no SCPs. It can therefore be used as an escape-route for a single individual in the event the world goes under, but it can also be used by the foundation to replace foundation staff who are injured or debilitated by SCPs. So long as they can operate the laptop they would be replaced with a version of themself from a universe that lack the SCP in question that injured them, although this can only be done once.
That's the drawback of it in a way, that the database gets smaller and smaller.
While it doesn't interact with the "real" database, it does update based on it, so if you add a SCP-entry to it, it'll be added to the laptop as well.
